Been going to clinic for years. The staff and Dr's have been great. My dog has numerous issues and they address all with great care. Had to have a pet put down couple of years ago and the were very caring. Good clinic. more

Great clinic !! 4/9/2012

I have taken my dogs to this clinic for 10 years, they give it to you straight, and give you the best medical advice, most of time well before your pet even needs it. They care for the animals well being. Not telling you how to be a parent to the animal, but telling how to care for the animal is what I need to know, and they do just that, I couldn't imagine what a vet goes thru in a day trying to diagnose animals medical concerns, but Dr. Silverman has an obvious caring demeanor, and, really try's his 'best' to get to the heart of the problem that may be affecting your baby. I wouldn't go anywhere else.... more

Will not return to this clinic! 2/28/2012

I have had several bad experiences at this Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Silverman was very rough with my dog and gave her pain meds with out any explaination that they were flavored like a treat to make them more pallatable for the animals. My dog ate the whole bottle of pills and ended up in the emergency clinic for 3 days costing me over $1,200 in addition to her $3,000 surgery on her ACL!! Last week I brought my cat in and Michelle the Vet Tech was VERY RUDE TO ME and challenged me over the total cost of my bill. I went back yesterday to put my cat down and Michelle was again very rude to me. She argued about charging me for the euthanasia of my cat which he passed before they had to euthanize him. She then said she wasn't going to deal with me, got up and walked off in a huff. Another Vet Tech came to help and was apologetic, very nice and polite. I called later to speak with the manager and she did say she has had other people with the same complaints on Michelle but she has been there for 10 years so there wasn't much she could do about it. After that comment I told the mananger that I can do something about it and will not come back to that office and will make it known of the poor customer service, lack of tact and compassion for their customers and their pets. I do have to say that the female Veterinarian was very kind and compassionate. I apologize for not knowing her name. \r Diane Olson more

POOR SERVICE 5/1/2010

After $100's of dollars in tests on my dog at this clinic I went to the U of M and got a terminal cancer diagnosis with a medication plan for a quality end of life and yet I knew it was already too late to help her.. My spouce was so freaked out he went there looking for help for my dog and they sold him medications I already had when they knew she was dieing and he was NEVER identified in their office as the animals owner. They should NEVER have sold meds to anyone other than the animals owner and when I called them on this lack of protical it was a DEAL WITH IT SITUATION. I needed my family to get right with the idea of letting her go as her suffering was ripping me apart and selling my spouce meds harmed me and my dog. We put her down there and received a condolance card. Today 3/30/10 I got a card in the mail telling me it is time to bring her in for annual shots. She was my very best friend and my grief has been intense. You do the math but I will never go there again. more

Good care at a good Price: 6/15/2009

We have been going to Ramsey Animal Hospital since 2004 with both our dog and cat. Our dog has seizures and Dr. Audrey has been wonderful with her treatments - very compassionate and helpful to us when we feared the worst. I like their no-nonsense approach and appreciate their frankness. I only have good things to say about this clinic! more

Wonderful, but not for those who don't want to take charge. 6/4/2009

These folks have helped me through two pet deaths and learning how to care for a dog! They give straight-up answers and advice. If you like people to tell you to coddle your pets you won't want to come here! They assist you with helping to be your animals' caretaker, not their parent. Tough advice sometimes (the cat is overweight and you need to restrict the food), but sometimes what we need most is clear direction on what is good and bad. They will tell you that you need to take charge of your animals health. Some people don't want to hear that and that's probably why there are some bad reviews. When there was no hope for one pet, they were direct but compassionate. more

Please do some research before you go here! 5/13/2009

I have been to this clinic for only one reason. They are reasonable about the spay and neuter charges. I learned long ago that if your animal is experiencing some problems, please go elsewhere. I lost a dog here because of faulty reading of an x-ray. They seem to be undereducated and cannot understand the profiles that they do take (blood tests) They also (as i said) have no ability to read an x-ray. The place is usually dirty although last time in they were trying. The techs can be very rude and condescending. But the spay and neuter prices are low. more

Love this clinic 3/5/2009

We've gone to this clinic for several years now. It is a no nonsense place that gives great care for a reasonable price. They don't push services you don't need and the service is excellent. It's not fancy and in this economy I'm thankful for such a place that isn't trying to impress by putting on a good show. They're the real deal. more

Great Care at the Vet 10/31/2008

I highly recommend this vet. We have had great experiences with both our dog and our cat. Dr. Silverman is awesome with animals and their owners. Our dog went through a couple surgeries at this vet and then had to go to the University for further treatments. This is the kind of vet that you can call up and tell the receptionist what is going on with your pet and they will get you in within a couple hours to be seen. I felt like all the staff treated my dog like a family member; as they should be treated. Very affordable and great care. more

Good experiences with them 8/14/2008

I have been going between this place and Barrington Oaks in Elk River. I now price comparison between these two simply because Barrington is closer. Ramsey always wins on the price but the cleanliness factor was a concern when I first went there. Thankfully, they are keeping it very clean now. \r \r I took one of my dogs to be neutered. They did the job at $90 less. Heartworm test was $25 versus $50. Euthanasia was $90 less. I don't feel like the care was compromised. They still discussed the situation several times with me and were very compassionate to me and my dog. more

Great Animal Hospital 8/13/2008

We have been visiting Ramsey Animal Hospital for about 12 years, with a total of 3 dogs throughout this time period. The Vets are wonderful, the staff is wonderful and all have always been very caring towards me and our animals. I have needed to take my animals elsewhere when there was an emergency and this clinic was closed and i can honestly say that you get financially raped by many other locations, without any added benefits other than a pretty atmosphere. This clinic cares about you and your animal without ripping you off. more

Rude 8/6/2008

When I arrived with my puppy and opened the door, there were three very large dogs in the small waiting room that started barking loudly. The vet looked at me and said "take that one and wait outside for a few minutes so these ones can leave". It was not a request or a suggestion but an order. And what about a vet that addresses an animal as "THAT one"??? Once I was inside waiting for my appointment, someone came into the waiting room with a broom to clean up. My usually exceedingly brave puppy backed away from the broom. I laughed at her and then picked her up and put her in my lap. The vet tech behind the desk said "what you should have done was keep her on the ground and pat her reassuringly so that she knows that the broom isn't something she needs to be afraid of". This is by no means my first dog and if I wanted your advice I would have asked for it. While examining her in the exam room, the vet leaned down, sniffed her and said "she smells like she's been sleeping with more

Horrible Vet!!!!!! Take your pets anywhere else 7/8/2008

We had our lab seen at Ramsey Animal Hospital for 2 years and we thought all was fine. Until she was having a hard time walking. We took her in twice and on the second visit after the first medication they gave us didn't work, they took x-rays. After looking at the x-rays they said it may be a pinched nerve or bone spur, but her spinal column looked WONDERFUL for a dog of her age. They gave us 5 days worth of an anti-inflammatory drug, Rymidol. 6 days later, she could not walk at all! We got her records and x-rays from Ramsey and took her to another vet for 2nd opinion. That 2nd vet (Animal Wellness Center in Maple Grove) took one look at the x-rays that Ramsey took and knew it was not good. There was arthritis in her spine, an almost completely blocked spinal cord and after a quick exam, found a large mass in her hind leg. And the worst part about it was that our dog was in pain. Ramsey didn't do a through enough physical exam to even find the mass or determine that she was in horribl more

Small but effective 2/22/2008

Ramsey Animal Hospital may not be beautifully decorated, but what it lacks in human comforts it makes up for with great service, knowledgeable/helpful vets and vet-techs. It is very affordable, especially compared to local Pine-ridge pet care. I will continue bringing my 2-dogs and cat there! more
