I went to Kevin Johnson about 7 years ago, he covered an exsisting smaller tat with one similar, but larger and it was like he could read my mind, after one redo/correction i was ver satisfied. It is time for a touch up which i thought were free for life, but i am not sure after reading the other reviews if he would even work me in. I also want to do a knee to ankle tat. I will need help with a design on that one. ---5-27-10 addendem--found out for short touch ups on exsisting work he will work in early part of the day. Reason for long waits are the large projects on individuals and these customers schedule their time out to get the peice finished. I am telling you this place is the best. I just got my first tattoo. It is very small and simple. But after my experience at Ramesses, I have a feeling this won't be my last. Shannon and Kevin could not have been sweeter or more professional. The shop is immaculate and the atmospere is relaxed. I got my ink in a rather intimate area and Shannon made me feel totally at easy. This is the best gift I have even given myself!!! For anyone considering a custom, original and perfect tat, these guys are worth any wait!!!!! more

Kevin and Shannon are good artist and do a nice job with their work. They work directly with me on my design and extended a previous piece. The work and top notch BUT the only problem is they are just open 4-10 five days a week, it is just the 2 of them, and are booked up for almost a year! In Sept they were taking appointments for June and July! OK-- Ramesses Shadow Tatoo in Memphis TN was a great experience for me. Custom tatto that had awesome 3D effect and wonderful colors that 99% retained. Hands down the best ink job I've had. Kevin is a master free hand and Shannon was doing a cool custom piece as well that I witnessed. The Johnson bros are the rave! Both take true custom pieces for their clients and apply as vangou on skin! Shannon designed a awesome custom piece for me-- crest-- it was beyond what I had expected. Shannon is a dream tattoo artist of every sense. He can take a client idea, vision, or even a concept a person scribbled on a napkin and make it come to life in ART. Truly amazing. From a corporate executive who has a top of the line piecie-I am VERY particular and discrete with anything I am doing with my body and Shannon/ Kevin Johnson are as good as they come. Together they own and operate Ramasses Shadow a couple blocks from the Pryamid. Having been to LA INK, MIAMI INK, HARTs place in Vegas, Shannon and Kevin are at or even a higher degree of skill than the above mentioned- who are good. Shannon and Kevin are both some of the best artists I've seen. Recently checked out Harts and Vince Neils in Vegas which are good but not in these guys league. Shannon personally created a piece for me with just some ideas I had. He worked on it in a week and blew my mind on how artist the piece was just on the first draft! They will work with you to get it perfect, even up to the placement. Very comfortable enviroment and friendly. People are starting to come from ALL over the country to see these guys now. 110% recommend both Kevin and Shannon owners of Ramesses Shadow! Excellent! I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday a week ago by Shannon. Obviously I was nervous, this was all new to me! I had an appointment for 6:00 and arrived around 5:45. Immediately when I walked in this very friendly man greets me and asks me if I am (name). He made me feel right at home and all I had to do was fill out some quick paperwork and he was ready for me. I felt an immedaite comfort with this guy, he was very relaxed and nice and down to earth. Made me feel better about the whole experience already. He custom-drew EXACTLY what I wanted, where I wanted it. Perfect size, perfect location, perfect angle, perfect color, perfect shape, perfect EVERYTHING! I was just amazed wondering ""how did he know exactly what I wanted...??"" I had NO pictures with me to show him what I wanted, I just described what I wanted and next thing I know, I look and there it is, drawn on my foot. He asked was that ok and I told him it was perfect so he told me what colors he was using (showed them to me) and he even did ""one little strip' of the tattoo at first just to let me know kind of how it felt since it was my first tattoo. Yes, it was kind of painful but it's NOT that bad at all especially since HE made me feel so comfortable and at ease.I also saw his brother, Kevin, tatooing someone beside me. His artwork was awesome, too. The detail is amazing. I was more than pleased and satisfied with my experience. My mother went with me, and SHE was very impressed with him, and it takes alot to impress her! The price was actually a lot less than I expected, considering the quality of work. He talked with me through it and had a great sense of humor, made me laugh at a not so pleasant time (getting tattooed!) It was just overall amazing and when I'm ready for my 2nd tattoo I will go NO WHERE else but here. I cannot put into words how impressed and satisfied I was. Even though it was my first and only tattoo, I knew I Had come to the r ight place! Ramesses Shadow Tattoo is a Hidden Gym of Elite purportions, but the 2 Bro duo Owners of Shannon and Kevin are well know nationally with the Elite. They have customers from every state in the MidSouth, even some Celeb Tattoo Artists themselves have made the venture down to the establishment by the Pryamid. What sets these 2 guys apart from other good artists, is they are TRUE artists-- you can see it in their drawings and paintings. They do 100% custom orginal pieces unless you bring a ""copycat"" in, then they will do what makes the customer happy. The lines are so crisp and thin, there ""3D"" work is amazing not to mention the detail and exotic colors. There are some other good places in the Memphis area like Underground Art and Trilogy but Ramesse Shadow is the ELITE-- a different level. They can and have competed with the best of the best in the US. With almost 30yrs btwn them, both bros are true artists with extensive art backgrounds. The icing is they are both so wonderful and nice, answering all your questions, working with you to take your piece beyond what you ever imagined. The shop is small but clean and nice-- they dont do 5-6 people a day-- they limit to 2 customers each. If your a pro with sleeves galore or a newbie, these guys are the BEST OF THE BEST and just nice people. Neither of the 2 have have a single tattoo on themselves. In addition to all the Pro Athletes, Celebs, Music mogals, Corp. Executives as clients, the simple Proof is they have been booked out 6 months in advance for years!!! When I get more ink done (and I probably will) this is where it will be. I had a cover up done at another Memphis establisment and was very disappointed. I made an appointment with Ramesses and all I can say is wow!!! Shannon fixed it and went well beyond my expectations. These guys are very curteous (which I can't say about the other place) and you can tell they love what they are doing. I love the fact that there is not a single premade stencil sheet hanging on the wall. Every piece they do will be original and when you are doing something permanent, you want something different from every other one out there. It takes a little while to get it but it is well worth the wait. That said alot to me right there because they are in high demand, Price is a little higher than your average shop but again, you get what you pay for and I ended up wasteing money letting someone else do it the first time anyway. If you are looking for a great tattoo, look no further than Ramesses in my opinion!! Pros: Very friendly and the work is outstanding!! You want the best, you get the best. You may have to pay a little for their top-notch work, but that's much better than paying for it by wearing bad art that you have to go to them to get redone later. These guys are professional, extremely clean, reputable REAL ARTISTS... I mean, this is not your typical 'pick-em and stick-em' type establishment. Kevin and Shannon can design a tattoo for you that only you will have... Something original, and something that you won't mind displaying on your skin... after all it is permanent... so it may as well be done right! They'll tattoo you with something you pick out if that's what you want, but take advantage of their artistic ability. #1 in my book.
