If you want good food, atmosphere, for a fair price this is your place. Remember that the theme of Ralph & Kacoo's is Creole / New Oreleans style food so go with the flow. You aren't going to find the typical ""Red Lobster"" menu. They have a normal compliment of fried offerings but I find that I enjoy quite a few of their broiled and blackened Items. Many menu items feature rich sauces and large portions. You will not go home hungary. I recommend the catfish acadiana and the oysters on the half shell accompanied by a tall Shiner Bock beer. Ask the waiter/waitress to subistute hushpuppies instead of the default bread at the beginning of your meal you won't be disappointed. If you don't order the bread pudding for desert you have truelly missed out. The New Orleans style bread pudding with a whiskey sauce is to die for and is plenty to share with another if you think you may not have room. The atmosphere is relaxed and you will want to just stay and chat. The bar is nice and I find that I prefer to eat in the bar area just to watch the people. Lufkin locals are very nice and more than willing to strike up a conversation with a visitor.
