Spare Yourself 2/17/2011

2/17/2011\r I took a friend out to lunch there after many years of dinning at the West Hartford location and to my surprise the food was ""Below sub par and over priced"" the kitchen and dinning room should be on the states health inspection list, right at the top.My friend ordered the Red beans & rice with a side of collards. The sausage was overcooked and the beans & rice were undercooked as for the collards they were ok. Myself I tried the Delta seafood platter and a Shrimp Po boy.The fish tasted freezer burned and the Crab cake was burned and full of raw peppers. I took a bite of each and was disgusted. The Po boy traditionally served on a long roll was served up on a hard roll and they had no lettuce or tomato so what I got was fried shrimp on a hard roll. My recommendation for anyone who would venture here is dont waste your time or money on bad food. And to the chef /owner you should be ashamed to call your food Cajun if you served this gruel down south they would run you out of town. more

Low cost, medium value food 2/21/2010

I ordered take-out red beans and rice. Since the beans were not ready, I waited at the counter. I had plenty of time to notice that the grill area, the floors, and the counters were dirty. It is obvious that the walls and crevices had not been visited by a clean cloth in a long time. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was fair, but I will probably not eat there again. Pros: Low cost, fairly tasty food Cons: Not-so-clean kitchen more

This place is amazing 11/14/2007

The restaurant itself is not too pretty, but the people, the food, the atmosphere, it makes the restaurant itself seem like the nicest place on earth. take that disneyland. the owner contributes to non profits and participates in community service, and as far as i can tell his own recipes. 5 stars. i dont care if you're missing a bar stool, 5 stars. more

So, it doesn't look like the Ritz, who cares when the food's this good? Don't be so damn snooty! Come in, sit down and have some good home-style cooking. It's well-worth overlooking the decor. Pros: Food, Inexpensive, Down-to-earth Cons: Too small more

Real Southern homemade food 8/20/2002

The buffet is limited to items that this restaurant produces with excellence. Whether you love crayfish, fried chicken, fried fish, southern potato salad or dirty rice, you will not be disappointed. Try the peach cobbler for dessert. Service is speedy. Pros: Reasonable price, Real Southern food, Does catering too Cons: Parking, limited menu more
