Rainforest Cafe

Our 5 year old son really enjoys this restaurant when we go to the outlet mall. Our latest visit was not good and we will not be returning. We got in pretty fast and were led to a table that had tons of trash underneath the table and surrounding areas. We seriously had to step over it to get anywhere near the table. We asked to be reseated. At out new table we ordered an appetizer and had to wait forever for it. While we were waiting another family was led to the table they had first led us too. They also refused to sit there and were led elsewhere. The trash was still all over the place!! We get out food and it's ok. Nothing great...then the manager is walking by and asks if everything is ok. Well we tell her that the place is kinda dirty. We didn't even let her know that the waitress forgot out refills and we had to remind her. Minutes later she stops by again and says there's been a mistake with our bill. Apparently our brainy waitress gave our bill to another table and they had paid it and already left. Now we have to pay their bill and she would adjust it so it was the same price as ours. Seriously....Then she ordered a free volcano for us. We didn't want the stupid volcano. We just wanted to get out of there. Anyways..this was our trip there. NEVER again. This was the first time I experienced Rainforest Cafe and I was so impressed. We got there early because I read the lines could be long. We were seated right away and the boys were so amazed with the moving animals. It was like taking the kids to the zoo. The animals looked so real and when the thunder and lightening storm started, my youngest was bright eyed looking all around. The food was fantastic and we ordered the famous volcano for dessert. It was a huge dessert and when they brought it out sparkling, everyone was looking at us and then a few others ordered it. It was a great experience for the whole family. Great place for families or if you just want something different. Great assortment of appetizers (crab dip, New England style clam chowder), tasty sandwiches (great turkey wrap), wide variety of seafood (nice combo plate, tasty shirmp) at a good price. Wonderful! The food was not bland as others wrote, or at least what we had was not. We had: cheese stick appetize big assorted appetizer plate for meal chicken sandwich for meal (tastes very flavorful--unlike any I have ever had) volcano dessert (could feed 5 people--neat novelty too) three drinks ----(daugher ate a little off of our plates since she is not a big eater and there is plenty) for a total of right under $50 inclduing 15% tip, I believe. Great waiter also. People complained about the price---it's only about 10% more than what you would pay at chili's or TGI Fridays. With experiences like this for your birthday, it is no wonder we don't want to continue celebrating them. Seated promptly with a reservation, the place was rather empty. So why were 5 people stuck at a table for 4!! The waiter did not know anything about the food. The appetizer, salads, and entrees all arrived at the same time. The table was not large enough to hold this. The 5th person still had not received his silverware. The lettuce wraps were good and the crab cakes OK. Everything else on our table I could make better at home! Then the flaming desert sparked off the table onto my leg and now I have a hole in a favorite pair of slacks!
