Unclear and Inconsistent Purchase Policy 11/8/2010

I've sold items at this store, and feel that I was adequately compensated. However, it's never clear what will be accepted. The brunette accepts more items than the blond. The blond told me she didn't accept any of my items recently because they were older than 2 years, and she wanted more current items. However, all of my items were purchased less than two years ago. In fact, one very modern item was purchased from Old Navy less than one year ago and still had the price tag on it. She obviously doesn't know what she is talking about. Would be nice to have a clear policy regarding purchases. But anything they don't accept, I take to the consignment store. The only clear policy they have is that you need to place items in some container, as it will be placed on the floor while it is waiting for review. more

helpful! 3/10/2009

They actually took time to help me! Imagine that. When they didnt have what I was lookign for, they recommended someone who might. It was actually a pleasant experience shopping at their store, and I'll go back to browse again. Unbelievably large selection. If you cant get in style here, youre just out of style. And the prcies are really reasonable. Support your local businesses and not big chain stores! Pros: They actually took time to help me! more

Need to train the new employees on GOOD customer service. 1/21/2009

i love rag o rama when the older members of staff are working (people who have experience buying and know designers). today i went in to sell items and not only did they pass up ALL of the designer shoes & shirts i tried to sell, but the girl offered no explanation as to why she passed them up (normally when a more senior staff member is there, they tell me when i should come back with items - or they tell me something is too old for purchasing). she bought a few no-brand, cheapo shirts and gave me (in my opinion) too much money for them.... then, the cow just shoved my clothing back in the bags like they were dirty laundry. i spent a lot of time folding the items nicely so that i don't get told they are "too wrinkled" to buy, the least that chunky monkey could have done was put them back nicely! this is a great store, except when the newbies are left to do the buying! if you ever have a bad experience with selling, i suggest you just come back on a different day and try for a more personable, experienced buyer. Pros: massive selection Cons: too many to type in this little section more

huge selection... 4/7/2007

I've never seen a selection quite like this one. it's phenomenal and the prices are wicked. I bought a cashmere sweater for $12. HELLO! Pros: selection Cons: staff is way too cool for their own good... more

Finally, a good experience 1/19/2003

In the past, I've felt the same pretentious vibes emanating from the staff, mentioned previously by other raters. In the past, I've spent ample time digging through racks and racks of overpriced junk, only to walk out empty-handed. I hate to say it, but I always go back. But this last visit was different. I was on a quest...to find jeans. I arrived shortly after they opened. For two hours I scoured every rack, while trying on nearly 40 items of clothes. What a pain I know I was, but the employees were nothing less than supremely helpful. The girl in the dressing room area watched me fill up the rack that I know she (or someone) would have to return to the floor...but didn't convey, in the slightest, any animosity for the work I was creating for them. This time I purchased several items. Thanks, job well done. more

YES!!! 12/6/2002

Rag-o-rama is awesome! I shop there to get most of my clothes, and is by far the best when it comes to stocking whats in. Unfortunately, some of the clothes are a bit over priced (compared to other thrift stores) My advice? Buy pants/skirts here, but go to just regular thrift stores too for shirts. more

Rag-O-Rama is famous for its flamboyant window displays, with mannequins dressed in club-kid duds you really couldn't wear outside of a night out on the town. Once inside the door of this aggressively hip thrift store in north campus, customers roam racks of trendy, quality threads, from tee shirts to party dresses.

    Wild Wear
You won't find a pair of Gap jeans for $2, but you may find some in good shape for under $20. There's also plenty of outrageous (brand-new) accessories for your next Bernie's gig or Halloween party: wigs, bloomers, feather boas, studded dog collars, fish-net stockings, leopard-print everything. The store also carries new college student necessities: ethnic blankets, candleholders, bandanas and scarves, and (of course) incense and incense holders. Selling? The store gives half of an item's value in trade, 35 percent if you want cash.
