Don't use the Contractor 5/12/2012

I contracted this company to purchase Cabinets. I purchased an entire kitchen of cabinets. With the promise of easy glide drawers and the installation of sliding drawers in the base cabinet. And that they would be the same color. Because the showroom ones were not. These cabinets were off white in color. (I HAD to pay full price before he would deliver so I have no financial recourse from them he already had my money) When the cabinets arrived the first time there were wrong size and they were many colors of off white. After 8 months of heated discussions, His worker came in and customized a bottom cabinet for me to install a mixer lifter which I had purchased. I have never have seen such an unprofessional job. He ripped parts of the cabinet with dull blade and caused the wood to fray and he just left it this way and the front of the cabinet is falling off, a large amount of glue was left in the cabinet seams was oozing out . We never did get the pull out drawers installed they are still in a closet waiting for someone to come to install. Even though I was promised easy glide drawers by sales person when It came down to it they were not included and he wanted 30.00 per drawer to install. (he did come down to 10.00 a drawer but has never showed up to install. The owner Don is the most unprofessional person to deal with. He never returns a call. And his staff cannot get a hold of him. I think with the amount of complaints I had, he would have come to the house and at least looked at what I was complaining about. I contacted channel 6 and they sent him a letter asking for him to fix the mistakes and he total lied to them about what he was going to do. At this time he did offer to paint my cabinets which meant taking them down and spraying them the same color in his workshop. I'm sorry I don't think this is options and declined. He should have been dealing with the manufacturer and getting new ones to replace them. Plus I have seen the workmanship of his staff and this was definitely not an option. I could go on and on. But I will offer this, before you buy cabinets from him you should contact me 919-780-9288 because I am a real person and you can come and see what he left me with. I wonder if he meant another lifetime he would come and fix my cabinets. more

Terrific company and great owner 3/23/2012

I was extremely surprised to read some of the negative reviews that were listed on your web site about Racine Marble and Tile. Two years ago I was struggling with my tile installation in a bathroom remodel. Don Bufton was providing a sink and two counter tops. Don stopped over to the work site while I was out, talked to my wife and by the time I got home had already tiled 2/3 of my bathroom shower. This was a 5 1/2' x 8' walk in shower and without batting an eye Don mixed the thin set actually cut tile and did most of the work before I came home. Don gave me some tips and explained what I was doing wrong. He then offered to give me free of charge three pieces of matching granite cut on very tricky angles to cap the half and short walls of the shower for absolutely no cost telling me that they were extra remenants. I offered to pay him for his labor and the extra granite pieces but he refused and settled for a few beers. Who does that??? I recently had Don do my kitchen counter tops, fair price, quick turn around but we had a problem. The back splash was 1/4 to short. You wouldn't have known it if it wasn't pointed out but Don's guys did and three days later they corrected the problem. No job is perfect and that 1/4 "" mistake cost them dearly because I live in New Berlin almost 50 minutes from their fabricating facility and to send the crew back took the profit out of the job. No body wanted to make that mistakes but this was an excellant example of what both parities may go through when your dealing with these types of conditions. I am working again with Don on another bathroom which includes tile and a vanity with a top and sink and his approach and attitude hasn't changed. When people send in these reviews I wish they would get more specific because I have a feeling having worked in retail that expectations can easily be unrealistic and such harsh critizism should be avoided when dealing with construction issues because nothing is easy when you remodel. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH 1/28/2011

Have you noticed below that the ""reviews"" are very close together and contradict everything the other reviews say? Don the owner is unprofessional, his staff is terrible and the quality is even worse. Well known in Racine has being unprofessional in all ways, they recently changed their name. A lady in our neighborhood filed a suit with them for work not done properly even. Another family that we know of actually filed a POLICE REPORT against them. Terrible Company. Our experience was terrible. more

never did a review but racine marble tile did my granite and its nice and my wife is happy so that works. the whole kitchen was done in a couple days when they started at our house and its a big kitchen. it was all good start to finish. seem to be no problem- Pros: no hassles Cons: not more

Very Satisfied Customer 4/22/2010

My kitchen is just beautiful and I am more than happy to write a review for this company. I went to the new location at the mall and worked with Maureen, picked out granite in my price range and 8 days later, I have exactly what I wanted. I can't believe it. The crew took out my old countertops, installed my new granite and I have been smiling ever since. I can't wait to do my bathroom vanities. Thanks Racine Marble & Tile, job well done! Couldn't be better! 4/12/2010

I have to admit after reading previous reviews I was hesitant to use this company. I spoke to Don personally. Our first meeting was at the warehouse where we were able to see the actual slabs of granite. 12 days later we are already enjoying our beautiful granite in our kitchen. Don was great from start to finish! I wouldn't hesitate one bit telling friends to go to Racine Marble & Tile!!!!! Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing! more

We are all very glad to help every one, and in the proccess of helping everyone some customers may get upset, however each and every one of those customers are happy in the end, including the one below. Not what it appears 10/1/2009

Initial meeting with Maureen and Sandy at the store was great. They were both helpful in choosing colors. That's where it stopped. Received countertops in a timely manner but backsplash in kitchen was 1/2"" too short in height all the way around. Fabricator (Johnny) was here originally for all of about 5 minutes measuring but refused to take any responsibility for his mistake. After waiting for a couple of weeks for them to find more granite and recut backsplash, my husband came up with a solution. There doesn't seem to be much communication between the store and shop and no one calls back to say they are working on the problem. John was belligerent when we talked to him. We were originally going to order flooring tile also, but after this fiasco, we've gone elsewhere. If you're looking for granite, marble or any other kind of tile, I'd suggest you stay away from Racine Marble & Tile. Other than the installers, one of the employees doesn't appear to know (perhaps care) what he's doing. Pros: Installers were great! Cons: fabricator doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes more

Poor Service, Abusive owner 7/24/2009

We placed an order for granite counter tops over 5 weeks ago, paying in full to take advantage of a discount. I picked out the slab over four weeks ago. We were promised that this was an easy installation: as this was a small job, the turnaround was to be within a few days after the measurements were done, according to the store representative. The business has not lived up to ther promises, they do not return phone calls, they lie about installation and delivery dates, and when confronted on their inconsistencies, the owner, Don, and one of his fabricators became belligerent and argumentative, actually bringing my wife to tears. I have come to find that there has been a number of complaints about this business for the same things. (City Search) Unfortuntely they have our money, and they do not appear to be in any rush to complete the job and will not refund our money. I am concerned that the installation, if and when it happens, will be inferior. more

Worst service in town 9/19/2008

Maureen was quite helpful, but that was the end. I waited 3 weeks to hear about a piece that was to be done in 1 week. when I did call, I got 3 different stories--bottom line they forgot to cut my bath vanity top, but didn't forget to cash the check. when I went to pick it up,I was treated very rudely--even told ""get away from me, I am done with you."" When I talked with the owner, he was less than helpful--even told my husband that I had P----- the workers off, and then proceeded to apologize to my husband about the behavior of his workers. I will never set foot in that store again or recommend it to anyone. I am surprised that they are still in business. Pros: good price Cons: late, no people skills, rude more
