The decor is upscale – with a castillian flare. I WAS ""wowed""! Great spot for a date night. RJ's also has a patio area where friends can just relax and chill. The waiter was ""AWESOME""! He offered several recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The mashed potatoes on the side of my plate were scrumptious! Glad I gave it a try. Would I recommend to others? Yes! Would I ever go back? Yes indeed! Happy eating! more

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! In town for Texas-Oklahoma game so we thought we would try RJ's\r \r Our waiter""first letter of alphabet"" was unhappy because we needed an extra chair. He then gave us dinner menus even though it was 1:55PM. We ask for lunch menu which really set him off. (Menu has printed on it ""Lunch is till 4:00PM"" +big difference in $$$). Need less to say service went downhill from then. Even the table next to us mentioned to us what a pain the waiter was.\r \r BUT the final insult was because we were a group of 8 we were automatically hit with a 20% tip. No wonder our waiter could care LESS about us. He knew he was getting a tip! \r \r Hope management reads this because if your waiter""A"" doesn't like his job help him find a new one at your competitors.\r \r Future customer of restaurants nearby!\r more

Perfect Patio!!!! 3/24/2011

What a great place for lunch. Met a friend Downtown today and ended up here for lunch. The weather out is amazing so we sat outside!!! PERFECT Patio! Food was great as well!!!! more

lets see, where to start...the waiter was rude, my husband's drink was flat and warm, my glass of water was dirty, the chips were stale, the waiter jerry took forever to refill the drinks, was an ass when i was asking questions about the menu and the rice tasted like canned rice. HORRIFIC!!! 9/10/2009

My boyfriend and I ordered the queso appetizer, the chef had decorated the dish, which had a line of ground beef in the middle. There was so much grease run off from the beef it pooled on top of the queso. My boyfriend had ordered the beef tacos and I ordered the chimichanga. My boyfriend didn't even take a bite when they came to the table. There was again so much grease run off from the beef that it had soaked through the bottom of the tacos and pooled on the plate. The chimicanga was dry and slightly burnt. When my boyfriend sent back the tacos, the manager just removed the price of the tacos from the ticket, he did nothing else. Did not offer to take a percentage off the ticket or compensate us in any way. One of the worst dining experiences I have Ever had. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The ONLY reason it got one star is because I had to rate it to publish this. Pros: Prompt Cons: Food more

This wasn't the worst Mexican food I've ever had, but it was close. The were some tasy things, the cumin-spiced rice and the spicy salsa being two of them, but many of the entrees we had were lacking. The ribs tasted as if they had been boiled, the ceviche had a heavy ketchup base that was off putting, the rellenos were a little raw. In general, no one at our table of ten walked away vowing to return. (They were also out of a brand of tequila on their admittedly extensive menu.) It is our unbelievable eating experience at RJ Mexican Cuisine. This is our first visit at Dallas downtown; we are from Florida visiting on business trip and found this locally owned restaurant in downtown Dallas. We go out occasionally at restaurants but this is our best ever experienced at RJ Mexican Cuisine. We went to RJ on Nov 2nd 2008, atmosphere at RJ was so excellent, there entree prices were so low, actually we thought it would be a very high price food restaurant., but it wasn?t so.. Food server was so nice and very attentive, our food arrived shortly and we had an excellent time there. We never thought this place would be as good as we ever thought it would be? we would rate this restaurant number one in all aspects?? Pros: Excellent atmosphere, great food and servers more

Great Attitude! 8/11/2008

I highly recommend anyone to go to Rj Mexican Cuisine! Their so kind and can take care of you the way it should be. I went a couple of days ago the service was excilent. The manager was so kind to make sure that everthing was going good and that we were getting the attention we need. I also remember seeing large groups of ladies coming in and all the staff taking good care of them. Everyone seem to be enjoying their dinner. The food was great and the decor was pretty! Pros: Great service Cons: none! more

Best Mexican Cuisine! 8/8/2008

Rj Mexican Cuisine was a wonderful experience for me and my family! From the moment i walked in the door they made me feel as if they were there just to treat me. As i looked around i noticed that they treated everyone with the same kindness. Our server was far the most sweetest girl and very knowledgable about the menu. Ididn't even have to ask for a refil! She was very quick and never once showed any sing of negitive attitude!! Our dinner was excellent. The steak was drepared just like my husband likes it! The desert was incredible! They even have a small area for big parties! As it looked everyone was enjoying themselves and as the time passed i didn't see any complaints being made or any costumers not happy with what they were getting! It was so wonderful and my kids loved it! I surely recommend for everyone to come and check out the place!! Pros: Great Dinning!!!! more

Never coming back here 7/9/2008

This was by far one of the worse restaurants I have ever been. The wait staff was slow and not very knowledgeable or helpful. One of the kids in our party of 6 ordered french fries. It took 10 minutes to get ketchup and it was spoiled and soured. The bathrooms were disgusting, smelly and gross. Even the sink was stopped up and about to overflow with water. It took 15 minutes for a manager to come talk to me. The General Manager Jay Khan wasn?t concerned or apologetic. He even rolled his eyes when I was express health concerns about the spoiled ketchup. NEVER COMING BACK!!! Stay away from this place, there are plenty of better places to spend your money. Cons: beware more

Never coming back! 6/16/2008

The service is pathetic. The waiter had two other tables besides mine and I could never get his attention. He was the great houdini - disappearing all the time. I needed my drink refilled and didn't receive it until the meal was over. I couldn't wait to get out. The bathrooms were dirty and smelly too! more

Great authentic Mexican food. 4/28/2008

Great authentic mexican food. Loved the atmosphere and the Patio is beautiful with a great view of the old cobblestone street. We had wonderful service and a great experience. We always look for good mexican food when we come to Dallas, and we will for sure be back again. Loved the Chile Rellenos. more

Good food. Bad service. 12/30/2007

Great restaurant, but the service does not match the food. Our server greeted us by saying, ""I'm __ and I'm really busy"". Not a good start. Didn't bring the guacamole we ordered, brought 3 tortillas for 2 people sharing fajitas. Walked by our table 4 times (carrying a large empty tray) without clearing our used dishes. Dropped our check and picked up 2 dishes. We would have ordered a dessert as we were celebrating a birthday, but wasn't offered. Horrible service. Good food.
