We went for a lunch there and scared by one of the reviewers who said that fish tasted fishy, ordered only a couple of sushi pieces (salmon + tuna), pork goyza and shrimp tempura roll.
Fortunately sushi were pretty good (fresh thin-cut fish, properly sized pieces, rice was not too sticky & not too heavy); unfortunately, the service was pretty slow (we saw only 1 cook at the counter who was giving preference to people sitting at the bar), so we didn't end up ordering more as we couldn't wait 30 minutes more for our order to arrive. After all, it was a lunch time.
Shrimp tempura roll was also good w a unique touch - asparagus instead of avacado, but they gave only 6 small pieces and the last piece was half size (usually it's 8 pieces)
Atmosphere is not romantic at all, loud music is blasting and you will see lots of ASU students.
I would give this place a try but I think it's a little bit overpriced (e.g. around $5 for 2 pieces of tuna), so if you have a good sushi place next to your home, you won't find anything special at RA bar. I would in no time go to Sapporo in Scottsdale (also loud music ;)) instead of this RA bar in Tempe, but if I'm around the area, I will have dinner/lunch. Btw no lunch special at this place, at least none was offered by our cute waitress ;)
Pros: good sushi
Cons: pricey, slow service at lunch time
