I have been going to RA in Tempe since 1999 ish when I was in college in Tempe. I still love it just as much as I did then. The sushi is not fishy. Perhaps that person ordered som...

Two-Stars Says It All: Ra on Mill Avenue is a letdown in comparison to Ra Sushi on Scottsdale Road. Cons: Service here is much slower than in Scottsdale. Last two times I've d...

Good ( not great!) sushi, a little bit overpriced, loud music, lots of ASU students 8/29/2006

We went for a lunch there and scared by one of the reviewers who said that fish tasted fishy, ordered only a couple of sushi pieces (salmon + tuna), pork goyza and shrimp tempura roll. Pros: good sushi Cons: pricey, slow service at lunch time more

All things considered 8/14/2006

I lived in Japan for over 5 years and I am an admitted Asian food snob. Only in the US is avacado part of any sashimi or maki roll. However, considering that there is no Coast Line near Tempe, I found both the atmosphere and the sushi at Ra to be quite good. The Seared Ahi Tuna Platter was really good, the Yakisoba was really good considering how far Tempe was from the pacific, and most of their other prepared dishes I've tried in most of my visits were actually a nice combination of Americanized Japanese dishes. They have Asahi Dry Beer, as well as less popular Japanese beers and a great Sake Selelction. Short of going back to Japan, I'll not find much better in any state, let alone a desert one. more

something smells fishy 7/27/2006

I have tried RA on Mill a couple of times for lunch and on each occasion the sushi has been horrible. The fish smelled and tasted fishy, the tuna was a brownish color instead of the usual red, and the rolls were crafted poorly. If you know sushi, I would not recommend this place. The ambience and service was ok. Pros: service Cons: bad sushi, cost more
