Cafe Allegre looks like a charming New England Inn with a fancy-ish restaurant on the first floor. It often has a "live music tonight" sign out front and is generally inviting. ...

This is a higher end restaurant for madison. the food is very good, try the lobster bisque. atmosphere is ok, the bar attracted loud, drunk local couples if you are into that. more

Upscale and fun 6/30/2008

Great place for a couple of drinks - unless they aren't that busy, at which point they might kick you out.We had a retirement party here with 30+ people. Lots of fun. Great food and drinks. The waiters were excellent keeping up with drink orders and getting everyone their meals.Great place to go for a special occasion. more

Not really French 6/30/2008

Although they claim to be a French Cafe, they have a large selection of meals to choose from and not all French. The food is awesome but you get what you pay for, expensive. The bar is less friendly and will kick you out if they aren't busy, usually during the week. For a special occasion, this is the place!! more
