Easily My Favorite Restaurant in New York 11/1/2009

Quaint has it all... mouthwatering creations by the incredibly talented Chef Kevin, cozy yet romantic atmosphere, warm and genuine staff... and reasonably priced. In fact, I'd pay a lot more for what I get. We walk in and it's like coming home for the Holidays. And for a country girl living in the city, finding a place that feels like home is priceless. When we walk in, we are greeted by Shamim, the bartender, and Tim the owner. We are treated like family. If they'd let us set up a cot in the back, we'd probably move in. We ALWAYS order the mussels to start. They are always fresh and served in a red curry and coconut milk broth. I'm not a fan of EITHER of those ingredients, yet the way they are prepared by Chef Kevin, DELICIOUS. I often ask for a spoon and shamelessly slurp the broth like a soup after the mussels have all been eaten. For the main course, I almost always get the roasted chicken dish. The ingredients are constantly changing based on what veggies are in season. It's obvious that Chef Kevin puts a lot of thought and love into his creations. We usually are full by dessert, but their constantly changing sweets menu is sometimes too much to resist. With creative desserts like Earl Grey Creme Brulee, how can I say no. And they never disappoint. I HIGHLY recommend Quaint. It's our favorite restaurant! When we have visitors from out of town, Quaint is always a high priority on our list. You can Have Peter Lugers, I'll take Quaint! Pros: To die for Mussels App and Roasted Chicken Entree more

I DON'T HEART QUAINT 5/16/2009

The place looks ""quaint"" but there is nothing special about it; the food is mediocre and the wine selection is horrible. They don't take reservations but if they don't know you, they will seat you after they seat the ones they do know, even if you have been waiting. All this would be bearable, if the food was worth it but it isn't. As convenient as this is, I will never go there again and will not recommend this to anyone. Try Claret next door... Pros: Few blocks from home Cons: Mediocre Food, wine and service more

Sickening Food 1/18/2009

Friends who live in the area brought myself and my partner to Quaint for the first time, both for us and them. My partner and I ordered the brisket on special, and within 20 minutes after we got home, my partner threw his dinner up, and I followed suit shortly thereafter. I would never go back. The food litteraly made us sick. Consider yourself on notice! Pros: Friendly and prompt service. Cons: Limited menu more

No excuse 11/2/2006

Trying to support the neighborhood we wanted to give this place a try, so my boyfriend and I went for my birthday. The pink-haired bartender/host/waiter greeted us at the door and said a table for two would be fifteen minutes or so (we knew they didn't take reservations). We sat down at the teeny bar and ordered a Guinness and vodka tonic. The Guinness came in a can, and the VT came as a gin and tonic. Since the place is still new (sort of), and he seemed harried, we decided not to complain. Five minutes later another couple came in, and they were seated immediately. Then seated another four people who had been waiting at the bar. No word of explanation as to what was happening with our table, or why we were obviously overlooked. Finally, as we finished our drinks and had had enough of waiting and decided to settle up, he looked at his watch as if we hadn't been waited QUITE long enough. If I want snotty/shoddy service, I'll go to Manhattan. Food looked good, but we will not be back. Pros: Few blocks from home Cons: No customer service to speak of more

Alas, this Queens native finds a decent brunch place! 9/9/2006

I've always wished Queens had a place where I could ""do brunch"" (read not a diner). Instead I head across the river into the ""city"" to dine at the usual suspects, Vento, Isabellas, etc. I came across a blog review of Quaint and decided, to go and give it a try. This place gets a solid B+ from me! Decor, food, prices, and service are just right. My friend and I sat in the small cute garden in the back, ordered southern omelette that came with delicious potatoes, and a huge biscuit. While the brunch menu is not extensive, my friend and I have vowed to come back! more
