Spicy!!! 11/26/2004

Very very good thai food - authentic, delicious and very very spicy. The decor and the service definitely is not the greatest, but I can overlook those things since their food is just so damn good. Especially love the drunken noodles and the coconut soup!! Pros: food more

Get it Together! 9/14/2004

Here's the scoop: The signs says the restaurant closes at 10 pm, and the kitchen closes at 9:15, however, if you're not there by 9:00 pm, you're out of luck, they won't let you in!! We've been turned away before ""closing time"" on several occasions, which is NEVER good business. The only thing it has going for it is that the food is delicious. Unfortunately, being repeatedly and unapologetically turned away has led us to taking our business elsewhere. Pros: Food Cons: , hours, ambience (none) more

real thai food 6/17/2004

Coming from a thai person, I can truly say this is one of the only authentic, good thai food restaurants that you can find in NYC. try the single noodle dishes such as kuay teow kua kai, or pad see ew.... Or try the soft shell crab salad or crispy duck salad. Dont judge thai restaurant by only the green curry as the review said.... Barely any thai person will order that when going out to eat... Be adventurous and try anything that looks remotely interesting. you wont be disappointed. more

Spicy Delicious! 6/17/2004

This comfy hole-in-the-wall is a bit hard to find but totally worth it! The Crispy Fried soft shell crabs are DELICIOUS and their curry is awesome. My family and I enjoy spicy food so towards the end of the meal, we were tearing and had runny noses. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Thai food. YUM! Pros: Inexpensive, Fast Service, BYOB!!! more

Best Thai in NYC 6/15/2004

Excellent, excellent food. I've finally found a Thai place where when they ask you if you want the food mild, medium or spicy, and you tell them ""spicy"", it actually is hot. Go early because it gets VERY crowded. Waitstaff is rushed but pleasant. Order the watercress salad! The watercress is lightly battered and deep fried. Delicious! Just take the #7 train to either 61st or 69th street. Note that the restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious food Cons: , Small space more

This is a great Thai place, my wife and I discovered by chance. We are both Thai food lovers and this place tops our list. Seating might be a little inconvenient but you'll be glad in the end. Pros: Great food, Reasonable prices more

Thai food like they eat in Thailand 4/30/2004

This restaurant ranks #1 for my wife, born and raised in Udon Thani (Northern) Thailand. She's been in the NY area for just about a year, and we've tried about 7 or so of the top rated restaurants. Only Sripraphai will do for her, and that should say something, since she is Thai afterall. The key word here is authentic. Most Thai restaurants adjust the flavor to better suit American palates. (can't blame them I guess, because patronage pays the bills). Sripraphai doesn't have to do this, because of the large Thai population that patrons their establishment. My wife gives them a 9 out of 10. (10 is reserved for restaurants in Thailand I think). GO TO Sripraphai, get N9 and A17...O1 is great too. Pros: Value, Authenticity, Outdoor seating Cons: , Bland decor, Last seating 9:30pm more

Authentic 3/31/2004

I've practically grown up with this restaurant. I used to come every sunday with my mother. Sripraphai has pretty darn authentic Thai cuisine. Don't be turned off by the plastic lawn chairs and cramped area. The food is worth it if you appreciate real Thai. Pros: inexpensive, good food more
