DR. BESHOY RAFLA AT QUEENS ANIMAL/VETERINARY HOSPITAL KILLED MY BABY DOG!!! On August 10, 2013, I fell in love with a 3-mponth old yorkie at US Pets on Steinway St. so I brought him for $1550 and named him Ajinko. As I was leaving the store, they suddenly handed me a plastic bag with two containers, one with a white liquid and another with a pink one. When I asked what they were for, the guy said they were antibiotics for a cold which I thought was a bit strange. Sure enough, one week later, I had to rush my poor baby to the Pearl Animal Hospital in Forest Hills since they are the only one open 24/7 in Queens where he was diagnosed with Aspiration Pneumonia. The vet at the hospital said that it surely had the malady when we bought but since it is still a puppy and does not have a fully formed immune system, it could not fight the disease on its own. I went back to the store to complain and was told I was crazy and that the puppy was healthy when I bought it. A guy there even said that they give all the animals they sell antibiotics to administer at home which the vet at the hospital said was unheard of and proved that the dog was already sick when I bought it. Of course, the hospital asked me for another 2200 as deposit for all the needed care and tests. I paid it as I just wanted my baby back to health. They even permitted me to go back to the rooms where the animals are treated and was impressed at how clean and clinical it looked with an impressive array of what looked like state of the art equipment.\r I called Don, the pet store owner the next morning and he told me to immediately transfer my baby to their own vet at the Queens Animal/Veterinary Hospital to activate the healthcare agreement they had with each other. The original hospital’s discharge papers indicated that my baby was doing better so I left him with a Dr. Beshoy Rafla at the Queens Animal/Veterinary Hospital. I asked to use their restroom and had to go through the back rooms and saw how badly maintained it was, smelling of feces and urine. I even inspected the animal cages and found some with animals sitting in their own bodily waste. One hour after I had left my baby at the Queens Animal/Veterinary Hospital, I got a call from Dr., Rafla who informed me that he had injected antibiotics into my baby boy and that my baby boy started convulsing and that he was trying to resuscitate him. Then a few minutes after, an assistant called and informed me that my baby had DIED!!! ONE HOUR AFTER I HAD LEFT MY BABY IN THEIR CARE, HE WAS DEAD!!! I felt so distressed that I spent the whole afternoon crying, since I thought that if I had only left my baby at the Pearl Animal Hospital and had not listened to Don, the pet store owner, my baby would still be alive. US PETS obviously has an agreement with Queens Animal Hospital to certify that the dogs it sells are fit for sale to circumvent the Pet Lemon Law. I am still fuming at Dr. Beshoy Rafla for what surely is a case of animal medical malpractice. And even though I had had my baby for only a week, I still feel a sense of deep loss. I am now exploring what I can do to prevent this from happening to other animal lovers who might bring their pets to the Queens Animal/Veterinary Hospital. Again, DR. BESHOY RAFLA AT QUEENS ANIMAL/VETERINARY HOSPITAL KILLED MY BABY DOG!!! \r more

Run Don't Walk Out Of There 8/14/2011

I brought my dog to have her teeth cleaned. Dr Beshoy Ralfa took a blood test and said her liver values were high. Instead of doing what my new Vet did--he ordered test after expensive test---saying after each test she will be getting sicker and sicker---and actually wanting to open her up which would cost even more. He new I was on a fixed income---I do do think he is competent. And has the worst personality so negative!! My dog never had any symptoms!!! I finally got wise and went to another Vet--All she needed was a low protein diet. The owner of the hospital keeps trying out Vets there---He needs to keep trying. more

First visit went really well 12/31/2009

We took our new kitty here because it is the closest to our house. The receptionist, vet, and assistant were all extremely nice, helpful, and friendly. We really felt at ease and felt our baby was in good hands. I didn't find it overly expensive, or that they charged us for any unnecessary procedures (as some other reviews say.) We got an appointment that same day, we didn't have to wait long in the waiting room, and the doctor spent a lot of time examining her. We will definitely be taking our cats here as long as each visit is this pleasant. I should mention that we saw Dr. Goetz. Seems other reviewers saw a different vet.. more

HORRIBLE PLACE 5/29/2009

I could not put no stars but do not ever take your pet over here they assassinated my dog. We noticed our dog was not feeling well and took him here and he went through various exams and they insisted nothing was wrong with him. We kept going back because we knew that things were not ok and that he had changed completely yet they insisted nothing was the matter. He must have taken every exam possible costing us over $1500.Then we took him to other places and they found out he had liver problems for a couple of months meanwhile we had been taking him here back and fourth watching our dog suffering it was breaking our hearts. At this point it was too late and we could not do anything to save him. This problem had been progressing quicker then usually and there was nothing we could do. After this occurred we called them and told them what had happened and they were so heartless about our situation meanwhile my mother is crying on the phone not demanding money but rather a meaningful apology. I am so disgusted by this place DO NOT TAKE your pet here if you want someone who actually CARES about your pet. Cons: everything more

horrible experience. 4/3/2008

Braught my female cat to get fix, they assure me it was gonna be an in and out procedure, that I could pick her up the same day. Called that afternoon, and became shady on the phone telling me that the policy was to keep the cat overnight. I taught it was weird, that they changed their mind on the "pick up policy" over a 5 hours period, but I had absolutely no choice and I just wanted my cat to be ok, so I waited another day. Went to get my cat, They charge me 550$, expensive but again, what ever it takes. But did NOT give me any pain killer for the cat, did NOT give me any atibiotics, or any antiseptics wipes for the huge scar my cat had on her tommy. A week later, even after I did everything they told me to do , the scar was infected, pus was comming out. I called the clinic on saturday the 29 of march, the woman on the phone tells me they are completely booked and that there is no way my cat can be seen, even if their is pus coming out of her little belly, before tuesday the 1 of april, 4 days later. So professional. I had to bring my cat to another clinic that day, and they had to redo the entire procedure because the sutures had boken internaly, and it was infected everywhere. they charged me 200$, gave me pain killer, antibiotics, topical disinfectant and anti-ich cream because they felt so bad about the boutchery my cat had to go threw already. So again, I paid a lot of money to be treated horribly , and worsth of it all, my poor little cat got to have an extra 10 day of pain. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

The best vet in ny. 2/2/2006

I take my pets here and I would never take them anywhere else. The staff is kind and caring. The doctors and staff geniunely care about your pets and treat them as if they were their own. Pros: Staff, Price, Great Doctor Cons: None more

Great for yearly vaccines 2/7/2005

I've been taking my dog to this vet for nearly a decade now and never had any complaints about the place. Their staff is excellent and their vaccines are affordable. The only down side is that if you're traveling overseas, you'll need a vet who's licensed by the FDA to sign the medical certificate and Dr. Angela Orobello is not licensed by the FDA. Other than that, everything is great. more
