Loved it. The person I went to dinner with also loved her meal. The chocolate dessert (perfect for two people) was to die for! It is our new favorite restaurant.

Worst

Great food and atmosphere, but I don't think they put any alcohol in their margaritas. $7.50 for a non-alcoholic margarita?

I just ate dinner at Aqui and had great service, drinks and dinner. The ambience is casual and relaxed, lots of cool Mexican artifacts, and the service was friendly and prompt. The margaritas were freshly shaken, chips'n salsa were fresh to order, and portions were hearty, prices were right on. I had fish tacos and they were the best I've had in town! We sat in the front patio and enjoyed the evening but there is also a groovy lounge for rainy days ... I highly recommend Aqui. Pros: Inexpensive, Big Portions, Great Service more

Went in a group of six. Seated right away. Chips shortly after seating. No water/service for ten minutes - we had to ask for the water. Small menu, missing many basics for mexican food. The house burrito with chicken was good - and big (mostly because of the tortilla). Only two beers on tap - never heard of either. No reason to return. Pros: Quick seating Cons: Service more

This is my new favorite hangout. Food is delicious, portions are huge and you even get a friendly staff! Nachos are to die for and enough to feed more than two. Burritos, Steak Salad, Fish Taco's. Kids love the Mac & Cheese. Not a bad dish yet. It's the new hangout for my family and I. thanks Aqui! more

We are always trying to find great restaraunts in the area (and there are so many in Portland). We were so happy with this choice. The food was delicious, the portions were huge and the service was great. And the best part - entrees were typically under $9 a piece. Definately worth the visit! more

Phenomenal 5/11/2005

This place is really amazing. It is so nice to have an option to eat out. You can't beat the price and quality of the food. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and very comfortable - especially the room with the fireplace. The staff is very polite and attentive. I will definitely be back - especially when it stops raining and I can sit out on the patio. Pros: Location, Good Parking, Reasonably priced Cons: None more

Aqui Mexican Cafe is exactly what Portland needed, a neat cafe with lots of style! A very warm space and welcoming staff make you feel like you are eating at a friends house! The food is excellent, I intend to try everything on the menu, they have burritos, tacos, salads and loads of other stuff, the menu is HUGE! The plates are overflowing with food, you will not go hungry here, and for the price it cant beat it! Plus they have a full bar! And dont forget to try the guacamole, it is delicious. Never has a restaurant name been more appropriate because the best place for Mexican food is HERE! Aqui now tops my list as THE destination for a delicious and affordable meal in a hip and comfortable setting. There was so much on the menu to choose from, but I settled on the tortilla soup and chop salad which were both outstanding...fresh and tasty! In addition, the weekend bartender makes the best mojito in town...try one...or two! The staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. I can't wait for my next visit! We're frequent visitors to Portland and are always looking for new dining places. The recently opened Aqui is great! It's a newly renovated space painted with warm colors and decorated with artifacts that will make you think you're in Mexico. They serve fresh and wonderfully flavored comfort food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. And with overflowing plates, your dining dollar goes a long way. Even though it gets quite busy, you are served promptly by the friendly staff. With warm weather coming, you can sit outside on the gorgeous patio. Give Aqui a try. I think it will become one of your favorites! Pros: Food, Staff, Ambience Cons: None! more

It is my theory that you can always predict a good Mexican meal by the quality of the chips & salsa, and I love Aqui b/c they support my theory. Their homemade chips are to die for. The restaurant itself has a very romantic feel to it, especially if you seat yourself in the gorgeous private room. My favorite so far is the Mexican Chopped Salad. Pros: great bar, wonderful staff, funky style Cons: I want it to stop, raining so I can, sit outside! more
