Love it! 9/17/2009

This place is such a great quick spot for lunch or dinner - been there 4 times now and can't get enough! Great staff! Pros: Great service! Great food! Ridiculously low prices! more

Consistently delicious and beautifully prepared 3/12/2009

This is one of my go-to spots. I can always just pop-in, and have never had a problem getting seated right away. The food is delicious, relatively cheap, and beautifully presented. And the decor is ""cool"". Service is just ""fine""....nothing particularly great. Pros: food quality and presentation more

Cheap and delicious lunch special every day! 1/30/2009

I come here at least once a week for the deliciouso $6 lunch special- Pros: Amazin! Cons: no cons more

I love this place: cheap, healthy, and tasty vegetarian Thai. Be aware that all of the "meats" are yummy soy-based imitations. more

Tasty and Satisfying! 7/25/2008

Three members of Meetup?s Thrifty Gourmets and I field-tested Pukk on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7:45 PM. The young man at the cashier?s station did not greet me, but pleasantly acknowledged me as I entered the restaurant. The restaurant had held my reservation. I was seated promptly. Our waitress did not introduce herself, review the menu for us or highlight the day?s specials, but was quietly friendly and competent. I started my dinner with the very refreshing and flavorful ginger and sake drink. My fellow diners and I ordered and shared the Spicy Spring Roll, Eggplant Salad, Thai Suki, Pineapple Red Curry, Spicy Eggplant Tofu and Duck Basil. These orders were delivered promptly and correctly, and were presented attractively. Our table was quite small, however, and soon became crowded with the various platters. Virtually all of the dishes were tasty and satisfying. A number of them were nicely laced with hot pepper. Drink+shared entrees+tax+tip=$20/person. Pros: Tasty food; lively atmosphere; well-executed interior design Cons: Small tables; perfunctory service more

Weird atmosphere, crappy service 5/10/2008

This place is like one giant bathroom, making the atmosphere less than desirable. The server acted irritated when I asked him to describe one of the dishes and the green curry (described on the menu as having bell peppers and other veg) had only tofu and bamboo shoots. Very disappointing considering the numerous thai options in the area. more

Great price, creative menu, DELICIOUS 5/9/2008

I was really impressed by this place. The menu is very creative and the food is delicious. The prices are quite reasonable and the service was good. Pros: Delicious, creative menu more

best vegetarian thai food around! 11/30/2007

The place is a nice little hidden thai restaurant that serves only vegetarian food and ""fake"" chicken, etc. The food was very tasty and service was prompt. the thai iced teas were also amazing!! definately worth a try. It's great for a small gruop of people since space is very tight. the best part is that the prices are amazing!! perfect for a students' budget... just take a look at the menu if possible! Pros: best thai vegetarian food in nyc! Cons: space is limited and seating feels very congested. more

Fake meat surprisingly good 9/18/2007

I went here last weekend and tried the basil duck and the garlic pepper chicken and both were pretty good. The chicken not as good as the duck, which was surprisingly very good. I also got the thai iced tea which was different from thai teas I get from other places, but was really good. It wasn't as sweet as other Thai restaurants, but sweet enough and very refreshing. We also had the lychee rice pudding brulee and the chocolate mousse cake. Both very good. I'm not a vegetarian, but I would definitely recommend this place. The prices are very low too (just about every entree was under $10), which is unheard of in this part of town. I can't believe I spent double the money at Zen Palate and didn't get even half the flavor I got from eating at Pukk. Pros: Good food, low prices. more

Cheap, amazing Thai! 6/17/2007

We loved this place! It was incredibly affordable ($7 entrees in the East Village) and the food was exceptional. I especially liked the spicy eggplant and the curry pancake appetizer. I'm not a vegetarian and am always put off by ""fake meat,"" but the straight tofu and vegetable versions were delicious. Highly recommended! Pros: affordable, delicious, quick service Cons: backless, tile booths might not be comfortable for everyone more

Best cheap vegan food in the City 6/4/2007

Great ambiance, friendly quick service. You don't have to be a vegan to enjoy this great thai food! Pick from a decent selection and two people can eat for under $40. Must try: The Lychee Thai iced tea and Spicy Spring rolls. Great date place!! Carry-out too! Pros: Cheap, trendy, delicious! more

Excellent Thai Food and can't wait to go back! 4/26/2007

Excellent thai food and great prices! I found this place in the Zagat book and after a little research online decided to check it out. I am not a vegetarian but my close friend is and so we decided to try it. Don't get me wrong, the place is tiny, but we went on a Monday night and were seated right away. We ordered two appetizers, 2 entrees and a bottle of sake and total bill = $40! For appetizers we got the Spicy Spring Rolls and the Curry Pancakes and they were both delicious! For entrees we got the Massaman Curry and Pineapple Red Curry...Mmmm. I am dying to go back here because it was just that good! Also I enjoyed the soy chicken that was in my curry and the portions werent too small as some people complained. I was full when I left and can't wait to go back! Pros: Interesting and tasty menu! Love it! Cons: Small but quaint. Also I thought it looked nicer on their website...but that doesnt matter....the food and it was great! more

Light and Refreshing Thai Experience 4/6/2007
