i love this Cuban restaurant there coffee is the best also i like there food but i guess other people that have not been to Miami that often and also that they don't live here ...

Worst

Sure it may be some good cuban food, but the service given at the place is the worst! I mean there was this one waitress who would scream everytime she went from the dinning area ...

Best Oxtail Stew I had while in Miami Beach. I went to this place five times in one week! I am from NH and can't wait to be back to Puerto Sagua! My husband is Cuban and he also loves this place! more

My girl and I were craving good cuban food so we googled "Best Cuban Food in South Beach Miami" & the first name that came up was "Puerto Sagua". We live for good food so we had to check it out. When we arrived it was crowded but the line moved fast & we were quickly seated at a table in the back. The Yucca appetizer was lightly fried & came with a phenomenal citrus dipping sauce that was very flavorful. I tried the fish soup which had nice chunks of fish and a nice broth but it wasn't a must. We also tried the pork & chicken croquet appetizer which are like deep fried hush puppies. They were decent but nothing special. For the main courses we had the traditional roast chicken with yellow rice, black beans & plantains and shredded beef with white rice. The chicken was moist... not nearly as crispy as I expected it would be but good. The yellow rice was a little undercooked but the white rice was spot on. It was lightly buttered & tasty. The shredded beef was slightly bland but the onion, green & red pepper sauce that accompanied it gave it some flavor. Thankfully the meat & chicken dishes weren't too spicy so you could really taste the natural flavor of the meat. The plantains were soft, sweet & served as a nice side dish for the main courses. The black beans were a bit bland. The sangria was fine and what we expected. If you are looking for some authentic Cuban at a casual restaurant for a good price, this is the place for you. more

Yummy!!! I had the pork shoulder with yuca and mojo rice and every bit of it was delicious. This past time was my second time there and I recommend it to any and everyone who is looking for great Cuban food. more

Was not impressed. Subpar food. Rushed service. more

Having little experience with Cuban food, I can not speak about the authenticity of Puerto Sagua. What I can speak to is how good the food is. We started with the fried yuca - this was new to us and quite good, especially when dipped in the oil/vinegar/saucy stuff that was provided for dipping. My wife ordered the shredded beef, which she enjoyed very much. I had the oxtail stew. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The sauce was fantastic as well. Not sure how the plantains on the side were cooked - I have only previously had them fried - but they were soft, slightly milder and very yummy. Other reviews have complained about the prices - we found our meal to be quite reasonable. more

While in Miami on our vacation my wife & I visited this establishment from the advise of our concierge. Once we arrived we were greeted by a non-attentive host, seated and awarded with a disinteterested server who also seemed agitated that we were unfamiliar with their menu. Food was mediocre and late to arrive an all around waste of time and money... more

Wow what a great place for big eaters! I was surprised by the size of the portions here and the steak is absolutely perfectly cooked. My girlfriend and I started with 3 entrees (onion rings, fried plantains and empanadas) and that alone could have filled us up! The steak we had afterwards was superb and the service friendly and genuine. Sangria was really good too...\r I highly recommend it and I hope you have a great meal like we did! more

Decent Cuban food experience. I had the #1 beef entree... It was pretty delicious however the service sucked. Not sure I'll return. more

Puerto Sagua seems like an over publicized "landmark". Prices are no longer cheap and food is decent but just teetering on the border of bland. If you are in SoBe and need some cuban, go for it, but there's better options in driving distance more

Yes! A must! Great bottle of Chilean cab for a very modest price. Fabulous chicken soup, Cuban sandwich and cod! Wow! Nice folks and so very easy on the purse. more

We always make a stop at Puerto Sagua each visit to South Beach. Love the diner atmosphere, nobody's there to see or be seen, simply to eat some good and inexpensive food. Any chicken dish I've always found to be very moist and perfectly seasoned; black beans could use some seasoning on the other hand. The cuban sandwich is very simple, but with the freshest bread it saves it from being boring. Have never been disappointed here, the food is good and filling, you're in and out and back to the "scene" before you can miss it! more

I have been wanting to try Cuban cuisine and this restaurant was recommended to me. The restaurant has easy to find on Collins. There was a short wait for a table, as the restaurant was packed. The server didn't seem very knowledgeable about a lot of food on the menu. Perhaps she wasn't in the mood to answer questions. Whatever the case, I just felt disregarded at times. Aside from the service, which was lackluster, the food was pretty good! I recommend the stuffed yuca as an appetizer and the roasted chicken entree. The plantains are great! You will enjoy the food! more

I have been going there since my father first took our family there in 1969. I now live in California and we visit Miami often. Our routine is that we arrive at MIA and get a rent a car and immediately go to Puerto saguas to get a Cuban sandwich. It is really good food at an affordable price. que difruten. more

I've been going to this place for almost 20 years and I have never been disappointed. A great place to go for dinner or after a night on the town. I moved off the beach and then out of town but I still make time to go back. To me the only competition is La Carretta (spelling) but if I'm in South Beach or in downtown Miami this is where I go. more

The place is real. Not fancy but very good. Reasonably priced and the food arrived quick. Good call. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 9/12/2011

For the price, not bad. Not the best eats, but beats the strip. Didn't think one could mess up the roast chicken w/ yellow rice. It was sort of bland and the rice was very oily. Our other dish stredded beef was much tastier. Good coffee, nice staff more
