It's a great market and worthwhile stop 11/30/2010

We've visited this market several times over the years and always enjoy it. There are different vendors each time we go (there is usually a year or more in between visits) but we always find it a worthwhile diversion. I think it depends on what you are expecting as to whether you like it or hate it. For instance, instead of finding bad starving artist sofa pictures painted by Hondurian 12 year-olds, tube socks, or bad chinese tools you'll find Artist Kelly Moore, real native american sterling jewelry and African artifacts. But, it is outside so if it's raining or cold or whatever, you should plan accordingly. Nature really isn't their fault. It has been a little while since we've been there so your mileage could very as to what you find but what the heck? It's close to town and free to look so, why not? more

Still a great flea market--nice antidote to ""in town"" prices 3/25/2010

Some of the permanant dealers here used to have stores ""in town"" and opted to avoid high rents & longer work weeks by being here instead. Love the spice lady and the vintage western wear booth. The Indian jewelry vendor in the front (lots of glass topped cases) is very knowledgable, and prices are good for his high quality wares--some of his old out-of-pawn pieces are amazing.... The jewelry lady in the far right back corner knows her stuff as well, and has reasonable prices. Rugs seem great, but not within my area of expertise. Some booths have great folk art, a few have junk--but isn't that what a flea market is all about? A very nice afternoon---or long morning of strolling under the blue New Mexico sky. Haven't tried the on-site food, but it smells good & looks authentic! I'd suggest that you stop at Tesuque Village Market for lunch (or a killer breakfast ) on your way out) instead! Pros: Great jewelry prices/quality, interesting dealers/locals Cons: can be muddy if rainy, and dust is a factor too! more

Do Not Waste Your Time 2/22/2010

Do not waste your time. Years ago when it was Trader Jack's this place was the best. Since the Pueblo of Tesuque took it over it really went down hill. There are no more then 20 vendors left year round. This place is dirty, very muddy when it rains the port a potties are duscusting!!!!!!!!!! No toilet paper so bring your own along with lots of hand sanitizer. Gross!!! I didn't even want to give it one star. Cons: everything more

Great Experience 10/21/2009

This was a small clean market with an amazing selection of beads, jewelry, baskets, ristras, spices, metal art, clothing and many other unique items. The vendors were very nice and helpful . They were happy to tell you about their wares and they were receptive to bargaining. We found this place by accident but I will definately shop here again when I return to New Mexico. Pros: best selection of western arts and crafts more

And still a great market! 8/6/2009

After visiting several flea markets in several states over the years, this market still carries a great assortment of old west items, beads, hides, etc. I do agree with other posters that the market has somewhat declined, but yet still has a certain charm that I've only seen at this flea market. It also does not have the ""all junk"" vendors that you find in other markets. Pros: Great Old West collections, assortment of beads Cons: can't think of any more

Waste of time 7/30/2008

Whether you're a merchant or a visitor, don't waste your time. The market isn't what it used to be. Visit the farmers market instead. Pros: Can't really think of any. Cons: Unpleasant hosts, bad food, sickening toilet facilities. more

What a disappointment! 7/11/2008

I visited the Tesuque Flea Market a few years ago, and all I can say now is ""What a difference!"" The place was the primary reason for my visits to Santa Fe, along with the art festivals, but visiting Tesuque now is like visiting a ghost town. When I discussed my disappointment with some of the vendors, I learned that, along with the high cost of gas, the Flea Market owners raised the rent prices unreasonably, while all along not caring about improving the facilities of the place. These are shabby stalls for the most part, with the exception of a few where the vendors themselves spent their own money to improve. I would like for the City of Santa Fe to step in and provide management expertise that returns the Tesuque Market to where it used to be; until then, I see no point in returning to visit. Pros: Inexpensive merchandise Cons: Disorganization, shanty-town look, awful food facilities more
