French Elegance and American Portions 2/5/2003

At first glance the interior is a bit eclectic, but you forget everything once you taste the food. The perfect place for a quiet romantic night...Provence offers more than just a good food. The food was prepared to perfection, and the fish, so fresh you would swear it was just caught. I started with the mixed baby green salad with goat cheese. The goat cheese was fresh and light a perfect compliment to the delicate baby greens. The salmon over seasalt, was cooked so well it melted in my mouth. And finally, the creme brulee was perfectly warm on the surface and served on a chilled plate. Beautifully delicate, and an exquisitely tastey meal. And if you are like me, you will love the slightly larger than normal portions as compared to French dining. Pros: Friendly Service, Great Food, American Sz. Portions more

Great cuisine, great addition to Carrbor 2/1/2003

I don't usually review a restuarant after only one visit but Provence is the exception. For the Triangle, it's a 4 star dining experience. We had reservations for a Saturday night with another couple. Seating was prompt, service was very efficient and not stuffy, the tables were not too close and the other tables, people ranging from 25 to 75, were all having a great time. There was laughter in the air yet quieter than some of the Franklin Street restaurants. Oh, the food. Excellent. Authentic French, Provence style. Not Parisian with the rich sauces. The menu was varied with a nice selection of appetizers, salads and entrees. Interesting preparation of seafood, chicken and meat dishes. Also escargot for an appetizer if you are brave. The deserts were very good but could use a little improvement to make them really special. Not inexpensive but probably less than you might expect. Pros: Excellent food, Good service, Friendly, not stuffy more

Pro-Provence 1/15/2003

Undoubtably the BEST French food (heck, the best food, period)in the Triangle. We were a party of 6. From the onion soup, the escargot, the salmon terrine, and the duck pate, thru the lemon sole, beef tenderloin, and flounder, our palates were delighted by the flavors. The accompanying vegetables with each dish provided just the right compliment. All the tables were full, so the noise level was quite high. The most popular desserts run out early, so reserve one when you make your reservation. (A tip from the waitress) Service was prompt and caring, even with a full house. We all plan to return many times. Pros: Food, Service, value Cons: limited parking, noise level more

personal service/wonderful food 10/25/2002

The first time I went it was pouring rain and very few people were there. The owner/chef let me in through the kitchen as I dashed through the downpour from my car -- thus earning a secure spot in my heart! The food was wonderful. They specialize in seafood, which suits my tastes just fine. The menu is rather limited -- don't go expecting pages of choices -- but trust the chef's choices to prepare your order perfectly. Pros: food stellar, service excellent Cons: parking very limited, menu limited more
