I went to Contente for the first time a while back and have been meaning to write a great review. Very warm and welcoming person! Knew a lot about shape and texture and how to distribute the right amount of weight throughout my otherwise thick & wavy hair. Back then I was transitioning from short cropped to long, so she didn't take too much off. I loved the cut, and it's grow out wonderfully! more

I'll go any distance- seriously 5/26/2011

You know how, just once, you get that perfect cut and style, and then you never seem to get it again? Not so with Joseph. Time and time again I walk out of the salon looking and feeling fabulous. I constantly get asked, ""Who does your hair?"" We moved to Grants Pass four years ago, and, I confess, I plan my visits home to Portland based on my hair growth. I even tried to find someone here, to no avail. We are now moving even farther south, to the Sacramento area, and I'll be visiting Portland faithfully, about every 3 months! Call me crazy, but when you find a keeper, you make it work, and Joseph is definitely a keeper. more

Joseph: Still fabulous after 12 years 5/12/2011

Joseph has been keeping me and my hair happy for the past twelve years. The guy is a mind reader. Before I can verbalize what I want or need, he figures it out. There aren't too many relationships I could say this about! I've had my hair cut a variety of lengths, with different styles and colors, and it always looks great. I've referred a number of friends, family members and colleagues who have all been happy with Joseph. I was afraid this would make it difficult to make an appointment, but Joseph adjusts his schedule to accommodate me. What else could a gal ask for? more

My Amazing Experience at Propaganda 4/5/2011

Joseph Morris is absolutely fantastic, the best hairsylist I have ever had! \r \r I just got my hair cut last Friday and wanted something new and different. Joseph was able to put me at ease and helped me decide what was best for my fine hair and face type. \r \r What I got was a new me! Compliments come my way every day on how nice my hair looks. Not only that but I can take care of it myself. The cut was so good my hair turns under as it should and it even looks good after sleeping on it. I've never had such a wonderful experience with being able to manage my hair with no problems. That I believe is the result of a good haircut and understanding the many different hair types. Thank you Joseph and I'm with you always! more

Years of great hair cut experiences with Joseph. He knows how to make my thin, wimpy hair look great. I've gone to him for years and I can always count on a style that is easy to maintain and keep looking good. I've recommended him to several of my friends and family! more

Joseph Morris! 4/4/2011

Joseph always does exactly what I want, even if I have trouble describing it. I love having my hair washed and my neck massaged. Rarely do I have to wait, when making an appointment or when arriving for an appointment. I'm in trouble if Joseph ever wants to leave. more

Been seeing Joseph for over 2 years! 3/28/2011

Every time I leave Propaganda, I feel like a million bucks! Seeing Joseph is like visiting a fairy godmother with a magic wand. I trust in him and travel an hour and a half see him every 9 weeks. He is worth the time and I will go to him until he retires! Thanks Joseph for a job well done, always! more

Joseph at Propoganda is the best! 3/22/2011

Joseph has been my hairdresser for years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. He knows how to work with my type of hair which is thin and fine. He actually makes it look like I have more hair than I really do! He is friendly, easy to talk to and also really good at telling when you are in the mood to talk or when you just want to sit and have some quiet time. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Great place! more

We love Joseph! 3/18/2011

First off, the environment in the salon is relaxed, clean and friendly. As far as haircuts go, Joseph is stellar. He eyeballs your hair while you describe what you want, and all the while you see him in the mirror studying it like a math problem, gently pulling at strands here and there, measuring, preparing it like a delicate meal. He's not one of those get-you-in-and-out kinds of hairdressers. Joseph consistently does an awesome job and I know it sounds a cheesy, but I always leave feeling special. Another perk is that he does kids cuts too! My daughter loves him and he does the cutest little girl bob. He also doesn't mind when she climbs all over me when he's cutting my hair. The neighborhood is fun to visit and a trip to Saint Cupcake or Stumptown is usually in order afterward. more

Joseph is AMAZING! 3/18/2011

I've been going to Joseph for about five years. He is the best hairdresser I've ever had! Within this time I've tried other hairdressers - out of recommendations or what have you - and they've always given me boring, plain haircuts. This never happens with Joseph. In my super vague way, I can convey to him what I'm looking for and he is always spot on. I recently brought a friend in to see him and Joseph completely fixed her hair! For a month, all of our other friends kept telling her how much they loved her haircut. She will definitely come back to see him. You know, its not just about the haircuts and color though. Joseph is extremely pleasant to be around. He is a great conversationalist, interesting and insightful. I enjoy his company and that makes the whole experience really fun! Go see Joseph NOW! I promise you won't regret it! more

Joseph, you're the best! 3/16/2011

Joseph listens to me and really seems to care. If I don't know what I want he'll run ideas by me until we figure it out. He's always enthusiastic and eager to please - wether it's moving in a new direction with my cut or color or just doing the usual. I have been going to Joseph for almost 7 years and I don't know what I would do without him. more

Get Lillified! 3/11/2011

When I first moved to Portland, I searched high and low for a great hair stylist and colorist. After plenty of dissappointment, I saw Lilly at a bar and asked who did her hair because I loved it. After she told me she did her own hair and was a stylist by profession, I knew I was in for a treat. Over the past 3 years, I have had just about every hair color imaginable, pink, purple, blue, green...as well as, blond, dark brown, red. Every time I get my hair done everyone I know is amazed how amazing the colors, whatever they may be, look like they were meant for me! I've also had extensions by Lilly when I was trying to grow my hair out and now I'm loving my new feather extensions! At only $5 a bunch, it's a great way to spice up your 'do without a permanent committment! more

One of the BEST finds since i've mooved here. 11/4/2010

My husband got transferred here for his job a few months ago. We have made some great discoveries and disappointments here in the Belmont/Hawthorne area. Meleni at Propaganda was the greatest discovery for us both. My husband actually found her first. Upon his recommendation I thought I would give her a try, since i've not been happy with the previous 2 salons i've visited. I'm very happy to have found her!!! So nice and by far the best color job i've ever had. A treasure of a stylist. We will be back to see Meleni. Go here! more

I just have to say thank god for city search! I have tried a few places to get my hair done with great disappointment. After reading the reviews here I decided Meleni was who I wanted to see. She gave me exactly what I wanted! And I couldn't believe how affordable it is :) A little hard to get an appointment with her, but a great stylist is in high demand, and worth the wait. Recently moved from Utah and going into Propaganda, you are welcomed by friendly staff, great music, and a feeling of ""glad you're here."" Fantastic Haircut at Propaganda the Salon 2/8/2010

I've been going to Propaganda for over 10 years and Scott (owner) has always cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and if I wasn't sure how I wanted it cut, he would come up with a fantastic look that suited me. \r \r Scott definitely knows what he’s doing! He is always nice and more than that, he actually cares. I can see this when I watch how he treats his clientele…not just me. \r \r Even if you choose to have someone else take care of you, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.\r \r While you're there, you can always walk across the street and a cup of coffee or espresso at Stumptown, the best coffee in Portland...by far! I was that guy. The not-quite-old-guy-who-should-give-up-the-long hair-and-rejoin-society. I hadn't cut my hair in almost ten years. Part of my paranoia about chopping it off was finding the person whom I could trust. Scott Kane is frankly a dam good practitioner of the Scissor Arts. Sheesh. What a great cut. I felt great as I saw what he was doing. And, dam if I didn't look really good when he was done. I'm still receiving compliments. Mel a hairstylist at propaganda is amazing! Every time I go in there, I come out feeling beautiful! Mel has not only a great personality, She has great techniques for cutting and dyeing hair! Do you know how good Eddie Van Halen is on guitar? Well that is how good Joseph @ Propaganda Salon is with scissors.
