I pass by this bistro every week when I go to work, and I always see people outside as I hear Euro-techno music bumping from the patio. The atmosphere gives off a really cool, leisurely vibe. The one time I ate there, I ordered the fig and goat cheese panini, which was really delicious... they also serve coffee drinks and Italian gelato here too! More than just great coffee, Caffe Primo has an extensive menu ffor breakfast, lunch & dinner, much like Le Pain Quotidient. Living in Laurel Canyon, I love this new ""neighborhood coffee shop"" perfect for weekend brunch or quick breakfast on the way to work! With their extended hours (7am-11pm M-Th, 7am-Midnight Fri, 8am-Midnight Sat, 8am - 11pm Sun) this is the perfect place for a quick, fresh, well-thought-out, healthier alternative to everything from breakfast to late-night munchies! more

Caffe Primo is not the kind of place you go to if you are looking for a simple cup of joe. It's a trendy place full of marble counter tops and orange European cappucino machines. Still, a cup of coffee costs $1.50, which is cheaper than most cafes. That is, unless the cashier screws up and charges you tax, like I had happen to me today. She feebily responded that ""it must be the new machines."" I guess their employees don't understand how our tax system works with to-go/grocery items. The java is robust and delicious though. To top of the chi-chi atmosphere, they sell muffin tops. Thats right, the tops of muffins. They kind of look like cookies. And the kicker is you are charged for the entire muffin. This place has a wonderful designer aura to it - looks like something out of Wallpaper magazine. Nouvelle cuisine-type salads and sanwhiches - very fresh looking. The previously mentioned thick stone tables with rough hewn edges and other interior touches create a substantial, upscale tone - low leather sofas in back create a darkened Plasma TV lounge and there's a very pleasant side patio perpendictuar to the street with a dozen or so tables. We just had the morning coffee served in giant porcelain cups with wonderfully crispy scones. Highly recommend for a casual light lunch or snack. more

Caffe Primo started as a sandwich/gelato place 3 doors down from it's current location. After it's beginning success, it opened a full restaurant in the corner spot of the Sunset Millenium. There is a lovely patio looking out to the square, some marble bucher-block style tables inside, as well as a leather chair area to the side. more
