Fried chicken is one of those comfort foods that I find myself trying wherever I go. Price's is 1b to Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken in Memphis' 1a. If you know Gus', you know that being 1b is quite the compliment. Every time I'm in Charlotte I have to make the pilgrimage to Price's. The folks working there are always smiling and I think that's because they know they are creating a memorable meal time after time. Well worth the time to find and stand in line... more

Delicious old school home cooking. I bring my out of town clients over here and they always leave impressed; even enjoying it more than the five star fine dining. I get the 1/4 chicken dark meat every time. Juicy, crispy and oh so flavorful. more

I've eaten here quite a few times since living in Charlotte and every time it reminds me of how lucky I am to have it so close to home. They run a well oiled machine here where you walk in (if you don't have to wait in a line) and order, pay, step to the right or left depending on what side of the counter you are on, take your food and walk out so the next person can get their fix. No questions, no issues, in and out situation. The chicken is phenomenal; juicy and tender, always cooked to perfection. The crispiness of the skin and breading has a nice spice which gives it an amazing texture. The sides are quick inexpensive ways of filling up your stomach and nothing spectacular, but it fits the bill with what you're getting. In your chicken box as I like to call it, you get a heaping load of tator tots, a roll, two hush puppies and coleslaw. Order a sweet tea, it's very good but it's also pretty darn sweet, but puts an end to a good old southern meal. First time there and can't wait to go back. Ate it at home a few hours after we bought it. It was great, but next time I'll eat it in the car when it's still hot. The chicken is very moist and the skin is crispy. The livers are nice and crispy too. The potato salad is good, the slaw is a little soupy. The prices are ridiculously cheap. There is no seasoning. None. The only ""spice"" is a packet of salt you get in your box of chicken. Maybe this is how Southern fried chicken is supposed to taste, but if you're from another part of the country, you will be disappointed. Pros: Crisp and juicy Cons: No flavor more

They have some good chicken. The place is too small and always crowded. Even though the place is small service is good. You order and you get your food quick and it is hot. more

OMG I had heard the hype over this place when I first moved to charlotte. I had a chance to eat their it was terrible, food greasy and not fit to eat.......maybe you will have better luck than I did. more

Price's Chicken Coop has very good, southern fried chicken. It seems to ALWAYS be busy. I've never had a meal there that wasn't good. Don't go here if you're on a diet. ;) more

This ain't a wing ranch. Go for the breast , dark meat, or chicken livers. You won't be disappointed. Get there about 11:30 AM or before if you can. There is a usually a line (nuff said about how good it is). Their takeout box is eco-friendly as it is made of cardboard - not styrofoam. OK I TOOK MY BOYFRIEND TO CHARLOTTE (WE LIVE IN VA) FOR HIS BIRTHDAY IN JANUARY OF 08' TO SEE THE PISTONS VS BOBCATS(HE'S A DIE HARD PISTONS FAN) BUT ANYWAY WE WERE GONNA BE THERE FOR 3 DAYSAND I WANTED US TO EAT AT LOCAL RESTAURANTS ONLY SO I SURFED THE NET TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY HAD TO OFFER AND RAN ACROSS PRICE'S. This place is as no-frills as it gets. Cash only, no seating, cinder-block walls. But that's OK--it's about the chicken. And that chicken is phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Even the white-meat chicken, which at most places is dried out and bland, was juicy and flavorful. I was quite impressed. The sides are nothing to write home about, but are adequate, and since the focus is so solidly on the chicken, who cares? Very, very good chicken. If you want good 'ol fried chicken, this place is it. If you are health conscious, this place is not for you. The fried chicken is out of this world, by evidence of the long line that you will stand in while waiting for your order. The wait is worth it. more

We use the Chicken Coop for many catered events at my job. They have some Goooood Chicken, I also like the perch sandwiches and wings and pups (hushpuppies). Go try for yourself, you will definitely go back. more

If you're looking for a place that has good fried chicken, Price's is the place. Whether for lunch, or a special occasion feeding 20+ people, your needs will be met her. So if you want good 'ol southern fried chicken, stop in. more

Sure, it is not in a so great location, sure it is really small and cramped, sure the parking sometimes is not so desirable..but let me tell you...the food here is the best!!!....my only complaint..is they need to have one closer to the Pineville N.C. area... This place consistenly ranks as the most popular fried chicken place in Charlotte, and I can see why. The meat is very moist, the skin and crust are crispy. Overall, the chicken is good from a technical perspective. But what it lacks is spice. There's no flavor! The problem is, I haven't been anywhere in Charlotte that has fried chicken with flavor! If anyone knows a place that has spice, please let everyone know. It's the best in Charlotte, but if you've had fried chicken outside of Charlotte, you'll know what I mean.
