OK...let me start out by saying that I'm sure this isn't the most authentic Thai place you can eat at...I'm sure there are more bizarre places to eat if you want truly authentic meals.\r
\r
With that said, I want to compare this place to probably the other well know Thai place in Pasadena...Saladang. We've been going there regularly for a while and I always past this President place wondering what it would be like. Well, finally we tried it. And it was excellent.\r
\r
A few things:\r
\r
SERVICE:\r
\r
President Thai blowws away Saladang. Saladang hosts and hostesses are rude, unapologetic, and make you feel like you have no rights if you order something wrong...EVEN IF it's their mistake! \r
\r
Example: At President, we ordered two glasses of Cabernet...they brought us Merlot...we asked they change it since it was wrong...the waitress was very apologetic and quickly changed our order. If that were at Saladang, you'd not only end up drinking the wrong drink, you'd also pay for it and they make feel like YOU DID IT.\r
\r
FOOD:\r
\r
I thought Saladang's food was good...but after trying President's food, forget it. President's food is fresher, more flavourful, and less oily. Their yellow curry was very very good..their Garlic Scallop and Shrimp was fantastic...their Satay was wonderful. Everything hitt the spot...they gave us plenty of rice, didn't hesitate to offer us other things if something was missing..\r
\r
OVERALL:\r
\r
Great experience so far. It was busy...so be prepared to wait a little...but it was good.\r
\r
I recommend trying it at least once to see the differences....I don't think we'll go back to Saladang anytime soon.
Pros: Great food, good price, nice service.
Cons: Quite busy...but gives the place liveliness
