I had a great experience at Pour. I went there on a first date, and the first thing we noticed was the inviting atmosphere. Once you're inside, you don't even know Broadway is rig...

I read that this place is on the Top 10 list of Wine Bars. That would be fair if there were only 10 in town. The wine here is good, not great. Prices are good, but the food the...

not soooo good! 8/24/2006

After reading everyone rave about this place and how great of a scene it was I decided to set up a dinner for my friends Birthday. To my surprise when I walked in all the lights were on, no music was playing and there was only one other couple there, not to mention there were only about 10 two-tops and 1 four-top right in the center. So needles to say this place is a very ""intimate"" setting, so intimate we were afraid to talk and break the silence. Finally someone turned on the music but when it came to looking at the ""menu"" we weren't impressed! I realize that at a wine bar there isn't much food involved, but only offering 3 entrees is crazy. We decided to order a bottle of wine that none of us had tried before so we went with the one that advertised ""Amazing."" The waiter quickly told us that it was false advertising and we souldn't order it. We went with it anyway and enjoyed it, promptly after the bottle was gone we left and had dinner elsewhere.... it's up to you if you want to try it, but don't say you weren't warned!!! more

Pour Me Another! 8/22/2006

A wonderful wine bar that offers fabulous wines, excellent service, and an exceptional happy hour snacking list. Pour seems to have it all. The relaxing hip environment provides for an excellent retreat that is subtle enough for that quick stop on your way home from work or romantic enough for that special evening. A must try! Pros: Knowledgable and Friendly Staff, Atmosphere, Wine Selection more

Amazing wine list, great service 7/28/2006

I had three amazing wines -- some I'd heard of, and some I hadn't. Sometimes I feel as if I'm rolling the dice with wines I don't know, but I tried some of the others at my table, too, and I'm amazed at the great tasting wines no matter what the price or type. The fresh ravioli was amazing, and the duck salad devine! We'll be back! Street parking was iffy when we got there (6ish), but fine when we left. Pros: Wine list, service, food Cons: Early evening parking more

Great place, owner is the best! 6/15/2006

Friendly helpful owner, outstanding happyhour, I mean ""pour hour""! Servers not the most professional or possessing of common sense, but maybe that's part of the casual unpretentious scene. I always learn something new about wine. Pros: Location, selection Cons: Not for dinner more

Unpretengious yet sophisticated...fabulous wines! 2/4/2006

My fiance and I are avid wine drinkers and have found many shops/bars to be filled with pretengious staff. This was the complete opposite of Pour. Two of the best wait staff in Portland greeted us with smiles, Justin and Kat. They have wonderful knowledge of wine & really listened to what we liked. Once we settled on a glass or two, we were in heaven! The ambiance, candles and soft comfortable chairs (even the bar chairs) were just the right mixture for a romantic evening. We met Robert (owner) who was buzzing around to make sure everyone was happy. He wants you to enjoy every moment in his wine bar. His staff made us feel warm and welcomed and left us with the notion that we had truly stumbled onto something unique in Portland. We will be back again and again...save our spot at the bar! Ryan and Dawn Pros: Good parking, Great wine, Friendly service more

Wonderful! 1/5/2006

I love everything about this place - the wine, the food, the prices, the people, the vibe, the look. In a word - Perfect! If you haven't been to Pour - you are missing out. The owner is very sincere and very knowledgeable. Pros: Great Wine, Great Prices, Great People more

Great little place! 12/21/2005

I went to Pour on a first date and had a great time. The staff was pleasant and the wine list had a lot of interesting stuff you don't usually get by the glass. $15/glass seems like a lot--but it was 01 Beaux Freres! I was happy to have that, to see how mine was aging at home. Good time. Great place. Pros: Interesting wine list, Knowledgeable staff, Friendly owner more

The Best Ever 10/31/2005

Fabulous service! Best wine bar in town! Great with groups, fast and friendly service. Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Hidden Treasure 10/24/2005

I'd heard about it, but it took me 2 months to go there and I am sorry I waited! I felt young again and as if I was in NYC! Owner pays attention to guests, wines were mouth watering, and they had the yummiest toasted nuts! Check out the yarn art on the wall too. Pros: wine, owners, mood lighting Cons: parking more

A wine bar with great wines! 9/27/2005

I know, what a concept! From Turley, to Ken Wright, Langry and more, they have great wines at reasonable prices. Some of the lesser known wines were well selected, and the food pairings were great. The staff was passionate about wine and knew their stuff, and knew when to let us just hang out and enjoy our evening without pressure to buy more. Pros: Wine Selection, Service more

What a find! 9/21/2005

Visiting Portland, we happened to pass by Pour and stopped in for a glass of wine. Highly recommended for excellent & unique wines, with a modern-but-not-trying-too-hard ambience--and owner is a wealth of foodie info on the best places to eat, wineries to visit and things to do in Portland. NE Portlanders -- meet your new home 9/18/2005

Overall, this place is very well done. It has an easy feel to it that makes you want to stay for hours. We got there at happy hour, aka Poor Hour and stayed through the night, forgetting our other plans in the comfortable chairs. The risotto is, in one word, amazing and the Banana Cake Foster is a fun show. Pros: Great value, Atmosphere, Staff Cons: On-street parking more

Diamond that needs some polishing 9/15/2005

Really enjoyed the space. Small, tucked away on a street you rarely think of for a glass of fine wine. The atmoshere was really, really cool! I do suggest going after dark though, the lighting and how it shapes the space is really cool. They did a great job with the overall feel of the space. My service was not that great; however give it some time. I believe they will work through that. The dessert was a little dry; but the flames were cool. I don't know much about wine but it looks as though they do. Pros: interior, lighting, location Cons: service more

Great place for dates or groups 9/15/2005

A simple, well designed place with great food and cheeses that pair nicely with the wine. Staff knew their stuff and the wines ranged from well known to obscure. Great happy hour, too. Pros: Happy hour, Staff, Wines more

No feel to the place 9/8/2005

The place was empty the music pour and where is the bistro part. Grill cheese, toast with jam. I found it to be high priced for what you got and the atmosphe was lacking. No theme or direction just an open room with tables. more

Perfect place to begin or end the evening 8/19/2005

Offers both up tempo and down tempo ambience. Nice pairings of wine and small dishes. The staff is very attentive without being pushy. They've made a lot in a small space: intimate and open. Pros: Vino, Vivid, Vespas more
