Misdiagnoses, Poor Communication, and Overcharging 8/5/2013

We first took my Sheltie, Cheyenne, to Glymont Animal Hospital when Dr. Watkins owned the practice. He was amazingly patient and good with her, despite her being rather skittish. \r \r However, when Dr. Fox took over things took a definite turn for the worse. Dr. Fox was always very kind to us in person, as was Dr. Johnson, but both pressed unnecessary tests and Dr. Fox repeatedly misdiagnosed my dog's Lyme's Disease as something else entirely. There was a continuous attitude of pushing more and more expensive diagnostics that were not needed, and pushing antibiotics at the problem that only served to make my dog lethargic and vomit continuously. Which of course was "solved" with more antibiotics. The lady at the front desk is outrageously rude, slow, and does not call you with test results or follow-ups. \r \r We ultimately took Cheyenne to Paw Prints Animal Hospital in Waldorf. They promptly gave the correct diagnosis on the first visit, and the price was a fraction of the cost. Dr. Quig more

Great Veterinary Hospital 11/7/2011

The vets, staff, and facility are top rate. I am confident that no Animal Hospital can top Glymont A.H.. Everyone is professional, caring, and goes the extra mile for any and all pets. In fact, after I moved to Virginia I still make the annual trek back to Maryland to bring my yellow lab to Dr. Fox. My dog's life has been made healthier and happier because of Dr. Fox and the Glymont A. H. more

Needs a little work up front 4/5/2011

Despite the front desk I must say the hospital staff is great. I called as a new client and was placed on hold a lot. I came in on a Saturday which I can imagine is a busy day. I was put in a room right away didnt wait long. The tech was great she went over puppy stuff and vaccines with me. She talked to me for awhile and played with my pup. Dr Johnson is GREAT. I loved her she was so nice and explained everything to me. The only problem again was the front desk. I got in the exam room fast the Doctor didnt keep me waiting. I come out the room and there is no one at the desk. I sat there for like 10 mins to pay my bill and make my next appt, When the tech saw me and came out she rang me out made my appointment. I could of walked out without paying. more

Rude, rude, rude 3/10/2011

I have been taking my 3 dogs to Glymont for 2 years now and couldn't be happier with the care provided by Dr.'s Fox and Johnson and the vet techs. The front desk person however, is a whole different story. She is probably the rudest person I have ever had the misfortune of meeting or speaking with. There have been a few times when she was fairly friendly, but then BAM, rude again. I used to take my pets to the LaPlata Animal Clinic where the care was adequate but I just got tired of paying people money to be rude and uncaring to me. I wonder how many people have chosen to take their business elsewhere after meeting someone like this. I guess I just think that if you're handing someone $200 they should at least smile and pretend to be a nice person. I'm assuming it is a paying position and not some sort of forced community service. But anyway, if you can get past the front desk you will find some of the best vets in the state (and techs too!). more

Great Place 1/22/2011

I have been taking my dogs to this clinic for 25 years. Dr Fox has updated the clinic and all the techs are so nice and helpfull. He is very fair with prices. One Sunday I had an emergency with one of my dogs and he came from a family event to take care of my dog. I appriciate all they do. Thanks, Sharon Dennison more

Don't believe the hype! 12/13/2010

I am shocked at all of the negative reviews and I am a firm believer of people only saying something when it's negative. (See above and below comments).\r I have been going to see Dr. Fox and Dr. Johnson since they were in the ER in Waldorf. They are caring, compassionate, understanding and extremely informative. I have had multiple pets from all different species and each one was treated with the upmost care and respect. The front door staff, Dorinda, and the technicians, Melissa, Erin, etc are all simply amazing. Their pricing is competitive but money isn't a factor when your child is at stake. They run tests when needed after your approval, prescribe medicine (with labels mind you) and explain why & love your pet as if it was their own. Sheesh, when my hamster, Tiber, was diagnosed with cancer in his spine (they were my second opinion by the way) - they were so compassionate. They went over every angle on how to cure him. I made the tough decision to put him down. They mailed me a s more

I will not be taking my pet there anymore 1/6/2010

My fiance's dog is a patient here and we absolutely LOVED Dr. Keatts. She is a wonderful doctor, always smiling and cheerful. The staff are nice and professional. Dr. Fox however, after dealing with him at the ER in Waldorf with my dog, is arrogant and rude. And I've heard horror stories from friends. My fiance's dog has a cronic problem that he just throws antibiotics at and nothing else, including the "Special Mix" stuff that did absolutely nothing but make the dog more miserable, then the cost would hit us. And dont' let him talk you into a special prescription diet, the price always gets higher. He won't be touching any animal of ours again. more

I would recommend them 9/6/2009

My family and I have been clients of Glymont since 1977. Dr. Watkins was a great vet, and I was saddened when he retired. When the new staff came on board, I was hesitant, and the doctor they had in there at the time left me trying to decide if it was time to leave. Then Dr. Fox brought in Dr. Lucy Keats. She is absolutely amazing with animals. I was sad that she moved away for two years, but impressed that they were keeping her spot open for her. I have also been impressed with Dr. Fox. He genuinely seems to care for the animals. He has never recommended unnecessary tests, and has always taken the time to explain situations, and to actually listen to my concerns. My biggest concern when choosing a vet is to find one that actually loves animals and recognize that our pets are family members, and doesn't see it strictly as a business. These doctors fit that profile in their compassion for animals. I also like their vet techs; however, I am NOT impressed with their current fro more

Surprised at the great care 3/20/2009

I was like everyone else and saddend when I heard that Dr Lucy left. I was having second thoughts on taking my pet there again because I have heard some bad things about Dr Fox and the ER in Waldorf. But when my dog was sick I took him in. I was very surprised at the great care I recieved. Dr Fox sat down and explained everything to me. He let me know what he was doing and why he was doing it. He helped make my dog better without hurting my wallett. He is a great vet he even gave me his cell phone number in case anything happended over the night I could call him and he would meet me at the hospital. How many vets do that? I would reccomend for anyone who loves there pet to go to Glymont. The staff is great. They all work well together. more

3/1/2009 - A snowy Sunday Evening 3/1/2009

I have multiple pets, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and now just 1 Guinea pig, all of which see Dr. Fox! I called Dr. Fox at 5pm on a snowy Sunday evening hysterical about my Guinea pig. Dr. Fox did not hesitate and met me at the clinic at 6pm on that snowy Sunday evening. I informed Dr. Fox of a large lump on my 6 yr. old Guinea's neck and was concerned about him being in pain. Dr. Fox DID NOT hesitate to meet me at the clinic. He drew some fluids from my boy's neck and gave me the results. Because of his age and the fact that I did not want him to suffer any further I made the agonizing decision to euthanize him that night. I do not regret my decision and Dr. Fox made it very comforting and did not ask me for a dime! He did not have to meet me and could have just as easily made an appointment for me for the following day but he did not. I am very happy with the care my pets (family members) have received and as far as expensive, not really. Think of it like this, would you go with the cheapest heal more

Professional, compassionate, very competent and highly recommended 1/28/2009

My name is Joanne Taylor and Sammy was my dog. Those of you that have dealt with us know that we are no nonsense and we lovingly and fiercely protected each other. It is a known fact that Pet Parents always manage to outlive our 4 legged family members. While carefully reveiwing the test results with Dr Fox, Sammy's heart failed and she made that very hard decision for me by going peacefully while holding her in my arms. Dr Fox and his staff made us as comfortable as possible and did everything they could possibly do for us in a private corner at the Glymont Clinic for Sammy's final hours. Sammy and I have found this clinic to be professional, compassionate, very competent, with excellent customer service and always willing to go far and beyond the call of duty to do what is right for your animal and you. Sammy was 14 years old and lived a long and happy life. The Glymont Clinic was always there for us in good times and bad right to the very end. I highly recommend Dr Fox, Dr K more

avoid this place and especially avoid Dr. Fox 1/8/2009

My dog had been seeing Dr. Keats. She diagnosed him with ringworm. A few months later he has had reoccurring symptoms. Dr. Fox ran unnecessary blood work and other test, even though the ringworm presented the EXACT same as it did the first time. I called to get the results of the blood work and they told me that they lost the tests. I demanded a call back, they called and said the blood work was fine and the ringworm culture would be ready in a couple days. I called back a few days later and they said it could take up to 2 weeks for the culture to grow. I never got a firm answer and am demanding my money back for $250 of tests that they have obviously lost and put my dog through unnecessary discomfort. I would not recommend Glymont unless you are absolutely 100% sure you can see Dr. Keats. Dr. Fox is a horrible, terrible vet. I would recommend Indian Head Animal Clinic in Fort Washington as an alternative. They saw my dog once for an ear infection, you have to wait a little longer in t more

Long Time Customer Having Second Thoughts 11/25/2008

Our family has used Glymont since moving here in 1976. Dr. Watson treated our dogs with the greatest care and we always trusted his judgement. After our dogs passed from old age we remained pet-less for many years. In March of this year we welcomed a new family pet into our home, a pure bred German Shepard. After reading some of these reviews about the "new" Glymont Vet. I am having second thoughts about bringing her there. This dog means the world to me and my family and I will continue to ask and listen to comments concerning the service at Glymont, this really has me concerned now. more

I was so impressed! 9/23/2008

I have an exotic animal and it is hard enough to find a vet for my type of animal, but to find a good one is even harder. From the time i walked in i felt completely comfortable and welcome. The reception staff was very informative and helped me with any questions i had, the technitions were more than gentle with my pet and treated him as if he was their own. And i have had the pleasure of working with both of the vets there and i could not ask for better doctors if i tried. i recommend anyone with pet to try them out, and see for yourself. more

Glymont Animal Hospital is a great place 9/17/2008

I went into the hospital as a new client after using other local veterinarians. I was impressed. The hospital looks new inside. The staff was caring and courteous. In today's economy I was please with the price and thought I got good service and value. I will return to them and would recommend them to others. more

nice vets 9/5/2008

We take our dog and cats here and have always been happy with the way we and our animals are treated. The vets and reception staff have been very friendly and helpful. more

good vet!!!! 9/5/2008

every time i come there with my dog i was always treated with respect and professionalism.every time my dog was sick with a ear problem they fixed it right up or when my baby kitten had a injured foot they showed compassion.i dont understand why anybody would have a problem with glymont, they are really good at what they do.da front section are nice, the doctors assistants are polite, and DR. keatts is a charm.DR. Fox who i didnt see much was a pleasure as well. more

I have just started going back to this veterinary clinic after a couple of years away. We love Dr Lucy and all the staff at the hospital. They show a great amount of compassion and obviously really care for us and our animals. more

Great care 8/15/2008

I love Dr Lucy and the staff. The upgrades are amazing here and the you can tell they all really care about your pets needs. I was amazed how much time they take to get to know your pet. You get a home feeling when you walk in. Its not like most vets where you are just a patient and Thad's it. I recommend taking your pet here. Its good prices great staff and just an all around good experience. Same great feeling you had when Dr Watkins owned the clinic. more

UnProfessional 8/13/2008

I was not happy about there service when I arrived at the office. I had to wait two hours and the service was poorly. Dr. Fox gave my dog a special mix prescription for her ears and charge me so much for it. On the prescription bottle it does not have a medication name on it so I was concerned and her ears was not improving. So, I went to another vet and they were shock about how another doctor would label a medication "special mix"! They told me to STOP using it and wanted to do more tests on her ears and it did get worse and they gave me new medication for my dog with reasonable price. Now she is doing better! more
