This place has illegal written all over it. Ladies of the night bartending, drinks outside, hells angels, nothing up to code (so it looks). The regulars stare you down and check out your lady. No one in there has a stomache smaller than Santa. The women are dressed slutty, acting slutty, and getting explicit with males (or females). We had one drink and left. The place is a dump and you will find no respectable people there. I honestly can not believe that place has not been raided yet. Enter at your own risk. more

It's an alright place at best, however it's not a very ""cozy"" place. More than anything, to outsiders, there is not a lot of warmth from their regulars. \r I think the last poster shouldn't refer to it as being the best Mannheim can offer. As the economy has plummeted, the ""working ladies"" population is sky high on Mannheim, and it's clear that there are a few in there particularly on the weekend nights competing for the bartenders money. \r To say that you can smoke there, implies there are special priviledges extended to that bar. That is not the case. It is the same as every other local bar in the winter - go outside, stand in their tiki bar area, which by law liquor cannot be served from, and hover near the heaters. \r Now mind you, you'd be best to watch your step too in there. They have no problem roughing up strangers. Not too long ago US 99 played there on a regular basis and one night, the locals got so out of control, another customer got assaulted with a propane gas grill!!!! Needless to say, legal action was taken AND US 99 will not longer promote the bar or do nights there. Hmmmm.\r Also although there are a couple of good food items on the menu, bar food should not be so expensive. $3.00 for a pizza puff is a good example. \r As for the female patrons that go in there, well WE don't much care about their ""female"" bartenders. They quite honestly spend too much time patronizing the male customers. Much difficult to determine if they are the bartenders or the ladies of the night that strolled in off Mannheim road. \r All that aside, still much room for improvement. Pros: A few Cons: Many more

The best Mannheim has to offer! Possum's delivers everything you expect from a neighborhood bar. Great prices, great food and a surprising ""layout"" which appeals to a wide variety of patrons. This is not your ""daddy's"" bar, anymore. Like most bars you'll find the usuall suspects. You know type, the daily patrons who've earned a deed to thier regular spot at the bar. But the bar has changed since the new owner took over a few years ago. They've spent alot of money enhancing the bar with a bunch of flat screens, tiki bar, patio, variety of games and most importantly.....a new breed of female bartenders that alone, are worth the price of admission. Collectively, all the improvements make Possum's a great place to enjoy some spirits. The bar really appeals to a wide variety of people. BAGS on the patio during the summer make it a great place for the twenty & thirty-somethings to hang out on those hot summer nights. The weekends tend to attract the late night singles crowd with a fair amount of female cougars who don't seem to be intimidated by the ""younger"" girls. Overall I give it a BIG NEIGHBORHOOD thumbs up! It's not downtown, but it's easily the best Mannheim has to offer. more

This is an average, at best, watering hole. Frequented by locals, yet no longer in it's heyday. Food is average frozen/serve bar food. Outdoor Tiki bar is pretty. It is a bit ""clique-ish"" and a much older clientele. Then again, it's a LOCAL place and has been there for a coon's age, albeit there are new owners. It is the fact that the reputation had been established a long time ago by previous owners that the regulars still frequent the place. The regulars are though friendly enough to send a beer your way. The owner though is a bit reclusive and unfriendly, but whatever. Just something to deal with. This is an really old version of Cheers after a while of going in. Everyone does eventually know your name. So...it's worthwhile to stop in. Again, the food leaves a bit to be desired, but the atmosphere the regulars set, is worthwhile.
