SCAM?? 1/2/2012

See some of the reviews written on yelp. Google ""yelp posh puppies rescue in st louis"" Some excerpts... ""this is NOT rescue! They are selling dogs from millers (puppy millers) and calling it rescue. They used to be licensed as a pet store until fairly recently by MODA, then they obtained non-profit status to take advantage of the trend toward rescue."" ""My visit here a few months ago confirmed my suspicions that this place is a sham!! I don't think their puppies are rescues, I think this place is a glorified pet shop preying on the public's good intentions."" Don't be fooled. Decide for yourself if this is a scam or a true rescue shelter. more

Smells but got a great puppy 8/22/2011

Just visited Posh Puppies and while there were some negatives about the place, there were also positives. Negatives: First, this place SMELLS....really bad. The smell starts in the parking lot and when we got inside it was almost bad enough to make us leave right away. The only reason we didn't was because it took us 45 minutes to get down there and we didn't want it to be for nothing. Second, we had to wait FOUR HOURS to see the one puppy we were looking to possibly adopt. Four hours in this stink hole was almost bad enough to make us tear our hair out. There is only one visiting room in the whole place (it is a very small place), and although there is a sign that says you can only be in the room 15 minutes at a time, they did not follow it....we were next in line for over 2 hours. Positives: First, the little girl we ended up adopting is perfect. We couldn't possibly ask for a better puppy. She seems healthy and they gave us all of her vet records which were in depth with vet info. Second, they make sure to clean up the puppies a bit before they bring them in the room with you...which is why it took so long to wait in line I'm sure... Third, they groom them completely if you decide to adopt them and bring them home with you. Our baby girl looked like a million bucks. They spent quite a bit of time grooming her making sure she was clean and perfect. Even put a little pink bow in her hair too! Lastly, the woman who seems to run this place REALLY does care about these animals. They make sure the people who are adopting the animals are good people who really want a loving companion and can give it the care and attention it needs. She went over with us in depth all the things we should be doing to take care of our little lady and keep her safe before we brought her back home with us. I think this was the most important detail about this place, because if you just walk into this place it looks (smells) like they could care less...but talking to this lady you could tell she genuinely did care about these animals and was taking care of all of them the best she could with this non-profit business. Over all....I would say give this place a shot. We couldn't find the kind of dog we wanted anywhere else close by and the little girl we have is just precious...we couldn't see life without her now! If we ever go in there again we'll just make sure to bring about 5 cans of Febreeze. more

A noble nonprofit 6/24/2011

Posh does not breed their dogs. All of the dogs are spayed or neutered. I believe the owner does get some of the dogs from puppy mill auctions, as do many breed specific rescue groups. I was going to get a dog from one of the local breed rescues and several of the dogs were ""saved"" at acutions. Yes the employees at Posh bring the dogs from the back. Maybe they should allow customers to see where the dogs are housed. My veterinarian, who is a great vet doesn't even let clients go in the back. Anyway, I adopted my dog from Posh and I am glad did. more

Stay Away! 6/8/2011

I was very disappointed when I walked into Posh Pet's ""Rescue."" I've never seen a rescue that breeds dogs (or seems at least works with puppy mills); They won't let you see where the dogs are housed; They make you pick your dog from a picture on the wall and then bring it out to you. You can tell the dogs have been in a cage all day (usually with multiple dogs), because when they do bring you a dog they go nuts! I felt so bad for the dogs I wanted to adopt them all to get them out of that place. However, I knew if I adopted one, they would shove another in the cage in its place. Please do not support ""rescues"" like this, go to the APA or Stray Rescue. If you don't believe my review go and see for yourself. more

wonderful dogs! 4/24/2011

My wife and I adpoted a cockapoo (cocker and poodle mix) from posh puppies almost two years ago. The dog is so wonderful that we decided to rescue a second dog last summer. This time we rescued a cavapoo (king charles cavalier and poodle mix). I like poodle mixes because they do not shed and affect my allergies. Too, they are a nice size-about 20 pounds each. The two dogs could not get along better. Both are extremely friendly, loving, healthy and playful. Posh Puppies does excellent work in saving these dogs and they are a true joy in our home. I would whole heartedly recommend saving an animals life in this way while enhancing your life at the same time. more

Wonderful experience. 2/18/2010

We love Posh Puppies! I went with my family a couple weeks ago to adopt an Cavalier. When I came in with my son and husband we were quickly signed in and looked at a couple dogs. Some were shy but all of the dogs were beautiful! The volunteers were really nice and helpful. All of our questions was answered openly and honestly. I even got some advice on training and what to expect when bringing home an adult rescue! By the end of our visit our heart was captured by one of the more timid adult males. The staff quickly got the paperwork in order and gave our gorgeous boy a bath. Before I knew it we were ready to go! I can tell you now with confidence that Posh Puppies does wonderful things for these dogs. Adults, especially shy boys who lift their legs like our bundle of fuzz, would never make it in a kill shelter. I doubt a typical shelter would help a new owner overcome issues like these too. Luckily he found his way to Posh Puppies and into our arms. We couldn’t be happier! Pros: awesome people, great dogs Cons: none! more

Puppy Mill Heaven 2/14/2010

I read some not so nice things and decided to visit and make my own decision. The so called awful smell I did not get. It did not smell as bad as the City Pound. It is winter with dogs inside. All the dogs looked healthy and clean. Based on the price I have paid for my pass and present rescue dogs they were not out of line. I found the neighborhood to be loft district and commerical businesses. I was not afraid nor was I shocked of the location because Stray Rescue is right down the street. The staff was very helpful and I will try again because they did not have a black pug at this time. Pros: NO KILL Cons: Not the puppy I was looking for more
