They don't care about tenants 7/30/2010

They don't care about long-term tenants. Our apartment smells terribly of smoke because the folks next door smoke a lot. Even though we have lived in the building for 9 years and our lease is up, they insist that we must pay a $500 fee to move to a different unit in the building. They also said they could fix the problem, but not right away. As we were waiting for the supposed "fix" the rent went up on the apartment we want to transfer to. Now that they can't stop the smoke from coming in, so we will be charged higher rent if we transfer. This is typical of how they treat tenants- they never care if you leave when your lease is up. Even though the building has a nice location, we just gave notice and will be out soon. Terrible management. more

Our apartment smells like a smokey bar- back when they used to allow smoking in bars. We have lived in the building for 9 years and this is a recent problem. We want to move into another unit. They told us they could ""fix it"" or we can pay a $500 transfer fee. Of course you can't fix people next door chain smoking, but we waited several days for them to try. Meanwhile, they raised the rent of the unit we want to move into and told us to pay the increased rent and the $500 fee!! We have had poor treatment before when they tried to have us pay above market rent at time of lease renewal, but this is a new low. We gave notice that we are moving out.\r \r Beware of the no AC in gym if you work out in the summer and screaming kids in playground if you work from home too.
