Horrible experience 2/7/2010

Several years ago Dr. Rodriguez suggested surgically removing a growth on my dogs eye but because of his age he didn't recommend removing many tumors on his neck since they weren't cancerous but mostly because he felt it would be too risky of a surgery since he was 13 years old. I set up the surgery for his eye and when I picked him up they scooted him out, he couldn't walk so they loaded him into the back of my car. At this point I was shocked that he was so out of it so when I went to pet him I felt something sharp under his neck and was shocked.....Dr. Rodriguez performed the surgery he himself didn't recommend. He said he didn't remember and was sorry and blamed it on the stress he had been going through at that time. Now at home several hours later that night my dog is not snapping out of the drugs nor able to stand on his own and I'm frantically on the phone with another hospital which was instructing me to shove a turkey baster filled with water down my dogs throat to get my dog more

I'VE FINALLY FOUND A VET I TRUST WITH MY DEAR PETS!!!!!!!! 4/14/2008

I heard of Dr. Rodriguez on the internet when I was searching for a vet recommended for cherry eye surgery for my new boston terrier puppy. I didn't know much about the condition so I went online where I found Dr. Rodriguez. Before going to his office for a consultation, I went to my regular local vet I had been using for years, which like usual answered a few questions before rushing me out and recommending immediate surgery. I decided to see Dr. Rodriguez for a second opinion, and although he is about an hour and a half drive from my home will no longer go anywhere else for ANY of my dogs. He was sooo courteous, answered all my questions/concerns and gave me an honest opinion about my pups condition. needless to say, I will be usng him to treat my puppy from now on. more

Best Vet Ever!! 3/14/2008

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Rodriguez at Portola Veterinary for over 5 years and have been pleased and happy with my experience every time. The staff is prompt and considerate and Dr. Rodriguez is truly world class - he cares deeply about his patients and is honest about the treatment which he will or will not recommend. I "tried" several vets in the area before finding Dr. Rod and I would not think of taking them anywhere else ever again. I recommend him and Portola Veterinary whole heartedly. more
