We are buying a house, they came out to scope the line $125. (scope and cap replacement) He was 1 hour late for the first appointment. The owner said it need to be hydro jetted, snaked and Rootx to really see if there was anything to worry about. The owner quoted us $500 to $600 to do the above. The day he came for the cleaning he was 2hrs and 20 mins past his appointment time and called three times to say he was 20mins away. He used the excuse of a meeting, that he just forgot and that he went to the wrong address. Once there he said it would be $772 and not $500 $600. When questions by us as to why the bid changed he said he had done the numbers in his head, I asked him to not do the rootx as it was the additional $172. The agreement was for him to be paid out of escrow for this task. He said that would be fine but asked for my credit card as back up. I agreed as it only seemed fair if he had to wait till the deal was final that he have a back up should it fall through. As he told us stories of how he was not always paid out of escrow and lost money. I have an invoice that clearly states 9/15/09 for work done on 8/17/09. The card was processed on 8/21/09. It has been four days since this happened and guess what they charged my card for the $600, I spoke with the bank and thank goodness I have my invoice to show they took the money against our agreement if I choose to dispute the charge. I have felt very tricked by PPD, I was promised my card would not be processed before I was contacted. I phoned the PPD office line and his cell phone for four days. No one answered or returned my call until 10pm on 8/24/09. I just spoke with the owner (8/25/09)at first he blame others and said he I just didn't want to pay. I have no problems paying, my frustrations was he charged my card after an agreement on an invoice stated otherwise. Also know that just because you have it in writting you will have to fight for it.Having to wait five days is way too long to return a call. Steve took our money, nothing was worth this mess. This was the worst customer service.
