Well, I have been looking forward to go going to this place for a long time, but it wasn't as great as I expected to to be. Some staff (some were nice though) was unfriendly and s...

Fun Children's Museum 3/26/2012

Overal a good value and fun time. The entry fee is reasonable. 4 stars because the bathroom wasn't that clean and needed attention which is not something a mom likes to have her kid see. more

Favorite Kid Spot 3/22/2012

My toddler loves the Dig Pit, Baby Garden, and Treehouse adventure. The museum has changing tables in the bathrooms and staff seems to make an effort to keep it clean and wiped down which is important to me. more

The Children's Museum 4/7/2006

My kids love going to the Children's Museum. We don't have a pass, and I was surprised at the entrance fees the last time we went, about a month ago. We were invited for a birthday party. I had no idea that the Children's Museum did birthday parties, but it was wonderful and the kids all had a blast. One complaint I have is that the smocks in the water area don't Velcro any more and kept falling off my kids, so they got pretty wet. But they did dry off eventually. more

New Updates over the past Year 1/28/2006

We just visited the Children’s Museum the other day using the free museum pass from the Multnomah Library. We had not been in a year and were pleased to find many new updates. The water play area had a new waterfall; the doctors’ office had been replaced by sand like truck and bucket zone, and there was a new construction display of how a house is built. The current Sesame Street exhibit was not as spectacular as we had hoped, so it was nice to find some other new surprises for the kids. We went on a weekday afternoon, which I highly recommend as the place was mostly empty of people and my kids could play freely. more

Fun fun fun 1/17/2006

This highly accessible children's museum is served by public transportation and is also across from the popular Portland Zoo. A trip that combines both would make for a memorable day. The museum is geared to children under 10 with a lot of hands on areas. I especially like the baby's garden area that focuses on discovery through the senses. An excellent place. more

Cheap, fun entertainment for the kids 12/20/2005

The Children's Museum is a pretty entertaining museam for children, for a great price. If you live in the portland area, I suggest the family membership. My children's favorite is the water works play area. They as well have a doctor's office, a construction area with balls to shoot through the pipes, music hall, puppet stage, and a grocery store. There is much more to do then I just listed, so go have some fun with your kids. more

Culture for the Children 11/20/2005

The Children's Museum of Portland is the place to go for some fine cultural fun for the children. Choose from lots of exhibits; as well as new ones through out the year that are offered for a limited time. They have many exhibits with hands on fun things to experience with your wee ones. It is so much fun to watch your child's face light up while they enjoy learning new things. Children's Museum of Portland is a great place for you and your children to go and have great time doing so. more

Awesome place to hang with younger children. 10/28/2005

My younger children really adore the Children's Museum. My older children get bored pretty quickly. It's a fun learning palace for those who love to pretend. The pretend grocery store, restaurant are the girls favorites. Watch your heals in there for little shopping carts! ;) And the big princess chair, is always a smash hit. We usually end our trip in the reading/puppet room, and act out a fun story we have just read. I suggest you get there early, it gets really busy. And you'll want to get there early for parking, since parking lot is shared with zoo visitors. And I highly recommend a yearly membership. If the kids enjoy it, it will be worth it. more

Great museum for little kids 9/21/2005

We currently have a membership to this museum (actually quite cheap!) so we visit fairly often and it seems like there is always something new to explore here. There are lots of options for kids - a pretend grocery store/kitchen, doctor's office, face painting, making music and (my kids' pesonal favorite) the newly re-done Water Works area. As if that weren't enough, you can participate in story times, build with clay and other hands-on craft projects. It is a little hard to find your way around and it is always very crowded (even when we go mid-week and mid-day), so if you can, leave the stroller in the rain gear area by the bathrooms and it will be easier to maneuver around. There is not much room for sitting to eat, and they only have vending machines, so pack something for lunch if you'll be there a while and try to eat earlier or later than the regular lunch hour. A fun way to spend the day with young kids! more

Fun for Mom & Dad too! 9/21/2005

Our whole family enjoys visiting the Children's Museum. The Water Works exhibit is one of our favorites. Some of our other favorites include: Build, Climb, and Construct, the Kids Clinic, The Studios, and Once Upon A Time. There are plenty of educational and entertaining exhibits to keep you and your little ones busy. They have a caring, helpful staff. Highly recommended! more

worth a yearly pass 9/20/2005

If you live close enough, the Portland Children's Museum is definately worth buying their yearly pass. We found enough to do here to keep us busy all afternoon. The kids especially enjoyed the puppet show, water play and clay areas, as well as the pretend supermarket where kids can push a shopping cart around and go "shopping" for pretend food. more

Children's Museum 8/24/2005

This is a great place for children to come and see new things. They have great exhibits with water and fun. Where you can learn about the way things work. You can dress up and play and look in the mirrors that they have its just plain fun. They have a place where you can have birthday parties there. They are open Monday through Saturay 9am - 5pm and on Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Admission: Children under 1 are free. $6.00 for ages 1 - 54, $5.00 for 55 & up, $5.00 with Military ID. They also have memberships that you can buy. I would highly recommend this place! more

All for kids 8/21/2005

Although everytime we've visited my children have contracted some dread childhood illness (okay so it's not that bad) like roseola, there are still plenty of resons to go to the Children's Museum. The annual membership is cheap, which helps...but I'd give f ew more bucks for some extra anti-bacterial soap around! Kids can do face painting, play in water, play with large musical instruments, work with clay and other arts supplies, make-believe (in all sort of varieties), and there's even a spot for babies. more

Great for kids! 8/21/2005

I have found the children’s museum to be a great place for older kids, but not so much for little ones. There are a lot of hands on activities, but they are definitely more tailored to older children. If you have children 3 and under, I think OMSI has a better infant toddler area, and is a better value for the money. If you want to check out the children’s museum, be sure and get a coupon that is in the Entertainment book more

Best Place in Oregon for Kids 8/17/2005

This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon, particularly those rainy Portland days. It has many options for children including different themed rooms and age specific toys and shows. A good thing about the Children’s Museum is the year long pass. Admission for children AND adults is $6 apiece but a year pass for two costs just $35 so you get your money's worth after only three visits. It’s also conveniently located off of the Max transportation system. more

for kids 8/9/2005

My husband and I enjoy this lively museum filled with hands-on activities and exhibits just as much as our children do! It's so much fun and the perfect place to go on a rainy dreary day! We make a visit here every summer with our children. It's an annual event that we always enjoy. more
