A couple weekends ago, I came to Porters to dine with a couple of friends and the atmosphere was not what I anticipated. First of all, they are a sports bar and fine dining establishment in one, which really doesn't seem to work. We came on a Friday night and ate in Porters around 830 and Friday and Saturday nights they have live music...well it became quite a disturbance while we were eating because the music echoed in our part. Then the service was absolutely awful, our server had to double check questions we had about the menu. Also, our server was very rushed and stressed and just made our experience unwelcome. Then seeing what seemed to be the management just sitting around at the bar drinking and socializing with coworkers they came off careless about their position there and probably should have been bettering their staff. The bar was kinda pricey, even for a ''fine dining'' establishment, and the variety/creativeness of the drinks were not great. The food was probably the only good thing about our visit, but food only gets you so far...service and management is the heart of a restaurant and Porter's Oyster Bar is like I said, amateur dining at best....I can find better service at Applebee's or Chili's, even though I'd rather stay in than eat at either of those places. My advice, don't waste your time or money here.
