Great Place!! 7/27/2011

When I go out to eat, I expect to pay a lot for my meal. I also expect to get a lot of food for that money. I'm a bit of a foodie and only want the best. Well, this place did deliver a great meal that I really enjoyed, only the portion was so small that I left feeling hungry still. The price wasn't worth the meal. However, the ambiance is very nice. more

Great Food, Live Music, Service and People Watching 6/13/2011

I went to Port recently with some friends for Restaurant week and we had the best time. Our server was very attentive and the food was amazing. Great Pita and Hummus, yummy kabobs and sweet potato fries-my favorite. They also had some great live music and a cool patio area that is a great place to unwind. I will be back soon!! Awful...and expensive...and slow 4/10/2011

Private party in the bar was deafening, we were the only diners in the dining room for the first hours and it still took three hours for us to have dinner. Filet mignon pasta returned because of gristle, $13 for an ordinary martini (no specific brand), we were charged for "extra" pita bread because we weren't given enough to finish the appetizer. We were charged $9 over the listed price of a bottle of wine..."computer problem", said the waitress. The private party was supposed to end at five but was still roaring at 7:45 and we were unable to converse without shouting at each other. Bad coffee, $9 if you ask for a shot of Baileys to be added. Three hours and $250 for a party of four who ordered only modest entrees. No wonder only three other parties were in the dining room besides us for the whole time we were there. Dreadful. more

Cover charge while eating 12/18/2010

We went there Sunday evening for dinner, while we were having desert around 8 PM, the waiter came over and told us that music in the bar will start around 8 and there is a $10.00 cover charge. Are you kidding? What did you expect us to do, swallow the desert whole? Get up and leave? Get it for take out? more

best mediteranean salad ever!! 1/11/2010

The food was beautifully served; We visited for Sunday brunch and the Salmon was expertly cooked, not overcooked, tender, full of flavor and the sauce was complimetary,not overpowering! The salads were beautifully presented, elegant and delicious. I have had the mediterranean salad off the regular menu and it is the BEST I have ever had, ever! The ingrediants are exquisite.. yellow beets, full plump walnuts, not parts and pieces, radicchio in full glory, not shreds, dates and ripe tomatoes, not old tomatoes..if you love salads try this. !!!! Pros: great salads, best sunday brunch..the salmon, the ambiance Cons: would love extended hours more

Great place! 12/22/2009

We decided to try this restaurant out for our 2 year anniversary. My husband called to make reservations (FYI, I found all this out later). He asked if they could put a rose on the table (he didn't know all the tables had roses in a vase - but they made ours special - they a long stem rose ON the table) , to have the best table in the house, and to have a champagne toast with dessert. They fulfilled ALL of his wishes and made our night sooo special. Many times when you call places they say they will do something like this... but then don't. They pulled it off great! The food was also fantastic! We started with the crab cakes - spectacular! They had a spicy sauce on top which was very different - and yummy! I had the sea bass for dinner - it was like butter that melted in my mouth! The atomosphere was perfect. We sat next to the fireplace... The place is decorated first class. The prices are up there... so it's not a place you can go to on a regular basis (unless you are a money tree :-) I highly suggest you check it out! It's different and I'm always looking for something other than the "usual" places. Pros: great service, great atmosphere, great food Cons: kind of pricey more

Great Local CDM Haunt 12/14/2009

I'm a newport local and this is one of my fav spots for cocktails or dinner with friends. Fun, friendly atmosphere and great food. I would highly recommend it...something for everyone here...even a big screen on the patio to catch the game. Pros: food, locals, nice staff Cons: none more

The atmosphere is amazing. Food is delicious and the best around town. Its trendy and fun its the place to be. I recommend it for dates and a night out with the ladies. The serivce is top notch and the staff are all very friendly. Pros: Food, Service and Ambience more

Cool bar atmosphere 5/9/2008

Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday. We went to Landmark and were turned down for our large group. My friend recommended The Port, and i was thinking the theatre? I was pleasantly surprised. My large entourage was greeted nicely, and we were all welcomed in. I loved the indoor/outdoor bar concept. The bar tender was friendly and the drinks were great. Thank you! I just wish there was a dance floor but that is okay :) more

Great Experience Dinner and Champagne Brunch 3/26/2008

I was actually pleasently surprised of how great their food was. I was thinkng of the place to be a great bar scene but I went there for a friend's engagement party diner and all I can say wow. The menu was pretty extensive ut i opted for the nice flavorfull 16oz of Rib Eye. It was great so was the Rubicon Cask wine that the server recommended. I was also there for Easter Brunch and their breakfast items were also great. I had the Creme burle french toast with fresh fruits. Mimosa was offere with many coices of juices that was very nice. The lady singer was also very talented. I recommend this place very highly and actualy I am probably going to call and make a reservation for dinner after I fininsh writing this. Pros: Great Food, Free Parking, Good Service and Clean Environment Cons: None for me more

Great Experience 1/3/2008

We have been to the restaurant now 3 times. Every time the food ws great and service was impecable. In this day and age that coroporate restaurants make it very difficult for independents to survive Port brings a very refeshing experience reminsent of good old independent eateries. We enjoyed our 6 course dinner in New Year's Eve and poached lobster and short rib tasted so good that I already have booked our next weekend dinner there with family members. I noticed some negative revews here on the restaurant and personally I find them very hard to beleive but I thought it it is only fair to let eveyone know of the great job across the board by all the staff. By the way, I noticed that there is a very good review on the restaurant by Zagat as well. Go enjoy and experience it first hand. AMAZING food, good customer service, great vibe. 11/24/2007

The Port is a pretty neat place. I took my wife there for our 4th anniversary, and we had a nice time. The dining room is great for intimate dining, and then we headed to the bar for entertainment after dinner. Got the best of both worlds! The french onion soup was great, and the scallops melted in your mouth. I highly recommend the food. The hostess was very friendly and got to us right away, and the servers had great insight on the wine. Altogether, I really enjoyed this new place. more

My weekly rendezvous. 10/28/2007

I live close by and am thrilled that there is a a restaurant close by that is very stylish and fun at the same time. I usually get the spicy shrimp as an appetizer and the John Dory is to die for. It's a great place to have dinner, and then hang out after. The food, music, and atmosphere are fantastic, I never go a week without a visit. Pros: Atmosphere and amazing food Cons: Wish it was open for lunch more

Horrible Service and Ambience 8/22/2007

My husband and I were just visiting from Scottsdale recently when we asked the girl at the front desk of our hotel where we could eat nearby. She told us we should go check this new place out. They had just received 4 stars from a newspaper she said. Whoa now Nelly "Small portions and Huge price tag?" "Fans we are not". i mean we're not frugal by any means and we make a damn good living but this place didn't warrant the high prices. And everything is pretty expensive on the menu. There was nothing really to write home about. The service was not so great, everytime we wanted a bottle of wine they were out of it. The dinners took a longtime and from there on it just was downhill from there. The ambience is cute but we just don't get the big huge TV in the diningroom. What is that thing all about? It took away from being a romantic classy restaurant that we were told it was. The food was pretty good but really small portions on my Dory. My husband had the Scallops, you get 3 scallops, leeks and mushrooms for a whopping $36 dollars. Thats right, 3 scallops and some filler for $36 dollars. No salad, soup nothing else with that. Pros: Visiting Orange County was our Pro Cons: A lot. Too many to really note here. more

Best Place in CDM/NB By Far!!! 8/21/2007

Wow, we ate here last weekend and the food, drinks and service couldn't have been better! We were greeted warmly at the door, shown to our reserved table right away, and were treated to incredible dishes and very polished, friendly service by Pete and Yvonne. Port is an incredible place to dine, and the after-dinner bar scene was wild and fun. We ran into friends we hadn't seen for years. The owner even bought the entire bar a round of drinks while we were there. Do yourself a favor and dock at Port soon. It's worth the trip. Pros: Food, service, cocktails, bar scene, neighborhood vibe Cons: Nothing more
