Pomegranate

I have been to Pomegranate a number of times over the last couple of years IMHO they've got the best Moussaka of any Mediterranean/Greek restaurant in the Bay Area. Mediterranean food is one of my favorite types of foods and Moussaka is one of my favorite dishes so I consider myself to be an expert of sorts. Their Gyros are excellent too as is their Greek Salad. My husband has ordered various other entrees and has been very happy with them so I would say the quality of all of their food is very good. Everytime we've been there they have a good sized crowd so I recommend making reservations. I love the ambiance and the beautiful mural as you walk thru the door makes you feel as though you're on the Mediterranean. more

I've had lunch at Pomegranate a couple of times, and have been very impressed with the lamb wrap. I liked it so much I keep ordering it! Huge and very tasty, good value for money. One night we went with a recalcitrant toddler, but the staff was nice and helped us box everything for takeout when it became clear she had no interest in sitting still. I'd forgotten about this place, and plan to go back soon! more

As I've only been to Pomegranate once, I suppose that I could have just caught them on an off night -- but frankly, I'm not very interested in giving them a second chance. I went with a large group, which I realize can be difficult and annoying -- but considering that they have a party room, I would have expected them to have SOME idea how to handle us. They didn't. Our service was TERRIBLE. It took forever to even place orders for drinks and food, let alone actually be served. And while the restaurant provided us with break to nibble on while we waited, it was stale and almost inedible. The food itself was bland and unexciting. And when the bill came, it was obvious that they had overcharged us, and hoped that with so many people, we wouldn't notice. If I were you, I'd stay away. more
