Polonia Restaurant

My family has been eating at this restaurant for years and years (so much so that my mom still calls it the Workman's Cafe). It beats out Zosia's(sp?) and Under The Eagle easily. For the brave, traditional dishes like czarnina (duck blood soup). I usually stick to potato pancakes (which can be a little greasy) that are typically crunchy on the outside and soft and tasty on the inside. The dill pickle soup is made on most days and should not be missed! It's always served with russian rye bread that tastes like it came straight from The New Palace Bakery across the street. This is a restaurant my family has frequented for years. Though the area has changed quite significantly in the past ten or fifteen years, the Polonia remains the same -- serving traditional Polish food at a reasonable price. Often, their appetizers alone are enough to make a meal. If you're thrifty, you can keep a meal for two under $10! The servers are all Polish, so if you know how to speak the language, feel free to try your hand at ordering in it! Of course, if you have a chatty Polish grandma like I do, you might have to coax the two of them apart so you can order your meal. It's a nice place with a classic Polish vibe to it, and it's definitely something different from the average "ethnic" meal. The meals are hearty and filling, so keep that in mind!
