Awful experience 12/11/2012

Please avoid Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. I took my sphynx kitty (11mos old) in for a checkup for a retained deciduous tooth (he never lost one of his baby teeth), that portion of the visit went OK, but at the end I figured I would have them trim his nails since we were there. They took him in the back and I was told to wait in the waiting area and they would bring Teddy to me when they were done. I sat down and next thing I know I hear yowling and crying (from Teddy) so I jumped up to go in the back because all I could think was that they nicked one of his blood vessels while trimming his nails. To my surprise, Teddy came flying up through the reception area from the back of the hospital and into the lobby. I guess there is no door or barrier that keeps pets from coming to the main lobby. It is a good thing no one was coming in or out of the doors because Teddy would have been out the door and on the road. Luckily he saw me right away and I picked him up and I quickl more

Caring & Considerate 8/5/2011

My westie is 14 years old. She began limping on one leg. After a few x-rays and bloodwork and the proper medications, she still has the ACL problem in her knee, however, the conservative approach is working and she is walking on all fours again. Thank You Dr. Mihalic. more

Ripoff 4/29/2010

Don't go there. I went there years ago with my dog and everytime, they wanted to do xrays and surgery, etc etc etc. They milked me out of thousands of dollars and I love my dog so much I believed what they said. They told me I had to put him on a special diet that I could only buy from them and when my dog wouldn't eat it, the label on the package said it was guaranteed and to return it to the vet for a full refund. When I tried to return the food, the girl at the desk got so mad and gave me such a hard time about it - then it too months for me to get my money back. They are a total ripoff. There's no compassion there, they are in it for the money. more

Ear mites 6/25/2008

Ever since my 3 year old dog has gone to PHPH, I questioned the possibility of him having mites. I was told they didn't think so because, with a quick glance, they thought his ears looked too clean. June 2008, I decided to check for myself by using Skin So Soft on a cotton swab. To my horror, I discovered a TOM of mites in both ears. Poor Sky!, to have to tolerate this for over 2 years! I called PHPH and asked for any advice to rid these blood sucking parasites that could cause deafness. I was told he needed to be seen by the doctor...yeah, right. I went to Petco and bought a ten dollar bottle of Exel, an ear mite remedy. It works very well and I am getting less and less mites with each cleaning/treatment. All I can say is, I really, really miss the original doctors whom all shared a genuine concern for all my animals and shame on me for letting my dog suffer for so long. Needless to say, Sky will no longer go to PHPH. more

Very Caring and Affordable 6/11/2008

We took our dog there to get a second opinion and the staff and Dr. Jones couldn't have been more understanding of the situation. They were professional and did find out what was wrong with our dog. \r \r The prices were affordable and they took alot of time discussing the possiblities and even called to follow up on how our Teddy was doing. \r \r Unfortunately he had Lymphoma and we decided to put him to sleep because he was 15. At least we got answers from them that we didn't get from our regular vet more
