I would only recommend this kennel as a last resort and only if your pet can fend for itself, requiring no care nor nurturing. Apparently the MO here is to shove food in the cage ...

Great place to bring your dog! The outdoor play yard is spacious and the kennel is very clean. My dogs come home tired and happy! The staff are friendly, helpful, and seem to really care about each dogs. They are also reasonably priced compared to other kennels in the area. more

Unpleasant Hill Kennels 7/29/2013

This place should be renamed Unpleasant Hill Kennels. If you want to get your dog bitten by a pack of uncontrollable small beagles in its office (I'm not making this up) take them here. I was told to come in the office by the office manager, I came in with my submissive 11.5-year-old border collie on a leash, and she was literally attacked and bitten by four dogs, one little [feces] in particular. Did I get a profuse apology? No. I got "I didn't know you had a dog." Umm, it's a [expletive] dog kennel, lady. I filed reports with the Freeport Chamber of Commerce and the Freeport Police Dept. You bite my dog, you're biting me. And I bite back, hard. more

Under New Ownership 6/1/2012

Chris Abbe took over Pleasant Hill Kennels in 2010 and has made some amazing improvements. The previous owner had allowed the kennel to get some poor reviews but now, with Chris owning and his new manager running the place, it's truely a wonderful place for dogs to go. They are always friendly, take time to talk to you about your dog and your needs, rescue unwanted dogs, keep the place sparkling clean and spend hours with each dog getting them settled in. I've been able to come visit my dog and use the enclosed "park" in the back several times. If you are in doubt about them, go over and take a look for yourself. These are people who really care about dogs and have turned the bad reputation it had totally around. more

My little girl, 6 yr old toy poodle, is treated so good, and they love her. They never complain about how figitty she is. They paint her nails, put bows in her hair and all for the price of astandard groom. more

An UN-Pleasant experience 11/4/2008

I would only recommend this kennel as a last resort and only if your pet can fend for itself, requiring no care nor nurturing. Apparently the MO here is to shove food in the cage twice a day and collect the bill. I arrived to find my cat's fur matted with feces and vomit. Vomit because she was given canned food against my instructions. Never got a phone call. I guess it isn't really a problem here unless the animal dies on them. more
