Of course Plato's Closet is going to sell the clothes for more than they paid you for them. It's a business, meant to make money. How else are they going to pay their rent/pay employees/make a profit? That's how consignment works... I love Plato's Closet...I could give my clothes away or throw them out, but first I bring them to PC to get a little extra cash before donating the rest to Salvation Army, etc. Why not? You're not using them anyway. It's a great way to get rid of some old clothes and make a little extra spending money in the process. I will definitely continue selling old clothes to PC. more

Rip Off 8/26/2005

Plato's closet definatly rips you off. I sold them a pair of abercrombie shorts, they bought it from me for $2 since it was a season old, and I found the same pair, same condition being sold for $7. They have a fairly big selection in the clothes, but they are not all in the best condition. They also have shoes, coats, purses, and jewerly. more

Great place to buy, but horrible to sell. 8/23/2005

Plato's closet is meant for you to sell your clothes that are gently worn. They carry a nice variety of clothes that have been sold to them for very low prices. However, they really rip you off when you sell to them. Today I sold a skirt, a hoodie, a two pairs of pants and a shirt and all I received for it was $17.50. I'm not really complaining because I didn't want it anymore, but they sell the stuff for much more than they pay you for it. more
