Great food, fast and clean dining area. Been going here for over 40 years. Best Pizza in Town....

Worst

I'm sorry to all you Pizza Johns fans but this is the worst pizza I have every had. Every incredient tasted like it was processed and way too much sodium. I know there are very fe...

The best around 7/25/2004

I was there when they first opened. I was just a young child. I live in Chesapeake, Va now but when I go there to visit, it is the first place I go when I visit Baltimore. When I think of my home town Baltimore, I always think of Pizza John's. When I take my grown children there to visit my parents gravesite, that is the first place they want to go. I went there a couple months ago and the people who were there when I was a child are still there. I am now 50. It still stands while I went to Mars Estates Elem School, Deep Creek and then Kenwood High. I recommend Pizza Johns to everyone. You will not be disapointed. Marsha Way Pros: Great Service, Great Food, Great Food more

Best Pizza on the East Coast! 7/8/2004

I have been going to Pizza Johns for 20 years and I have not had a better pizza anywhere in the country yet. The pasta and subs are out of this world too. If you are looking for the best tasting pizza then Pizza Johns would be your place! Pros: Inexpensive, Fast Service, Outstanding Quality more

WOW!!! 5/27/2004

The BEST pizza. When I am at work I suggest it every day for lunch, even though it is about 30 miles away. The peperoni they use tastes SOOOO good. I grew up a couple miles from Pizza Johns, and would walk there after school all of the time. The sauce on the pizza is great. I have NEVER been disapointed. The meatball subs are great too. The meatballs are so big the end of the roll is plugged with a hunk of bread. Also the garlic bread is wonderfull. A peperoni pizza and an order of garlic bread from Pizza Johns is just too good to put into words. I worked for a year at an other pizza resturant and I can say that the best pizza I had from where I worked was not as good as the worst Pizza Johns pizza I had. Pros: The Best Pizza, Consistand Quality, Friendly Staff more

pizza johns 1/20/2004

When the word pizza johns comes to mind, i think clean, friendly, and very good food. Besides eating there myself, i work there. I am in the dinning room, some of you may have seen me. Pizza johns is a very good place to bring the kids to eat. Parking spots are alaways avabile...great place :) more

Should have been #1 12/11/2003

A staple for decades, everyone who has ventured to this little venue in Essex will never forget this pizza. Not only will a pie with the works and a pitcher of Killians cost you under 20$, but its bustling atmosphere makes the journey that much more fun. And one of the best qualities is that you watch your food being made through glass partitions- watch your food being prepared in a kitchen so clean, you'd swear you could eat off the floor! With decor out of a Roman trattoria, and a great selection to boot, Pizza John's makes every other pizzeria in Baltimore pale in comparison. Pros: Inexpensive, Quick service, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN more

Pizza John's 10/19/2003

This is the best pizza I have had. The sauce you can tell is not from a can. The cost might be a dollor or two more, but you will not be disappointed! I would recommend reservation if you plan to dine in at night. Pros: Italian owners , Home made sauce , quality ingredients Cons: always busy more

Pizza Johns 8/11/2003

Pizza Johns should have gotten 1st place for best pizza in Baltimore. Fresh to order, home made pizza. The prices and quantity of food can't be beat. We can take our family of 5 and get 2 large pizzas and 2 pitchers of soda and pay less then $30. Just writing about it makes me want to drive from Highlandtown to Essex, But they are closed today. Pros: Clean, Inexpensive, plenty of parking more

Great Food Great Value 6/23/2003

Pizza Johns may have been small in the past but if you have not driven passed recently you wouldn't know what was going on. They are adding more seating. They are continuing the seats that have the view of the road along both sides of the restaurant to please the many customers who would rather eat there than take the pizza home. Their 'the works' pizze is my family's favorite and it is a wonderful price. Just because the restaurant is in Essex doesn't make it a bad... try it for yourself and you will see! Pros: Low costs, Great food, Family Atmosphere Cons: Closed Mondays more

Absolutely the best 3/6/2003

More than phenominal italian food, the allure of a warm sensorial environment and a sense of family comfort awaits all who visit John. I've been a patron and 'family' member for 30+ years and I can honestly say I have NEVER been dissatisfied with the food, service, or professionalism. An experience that goes way beyond satisfying a hunger, it's therapeutic!! Pros: Fntastic food, warm surroundings, truly happy more

loyal customer 2/20/2003

john keep up the good work been a customer since your fist place you know the small one thanks sandy more

Best Pizza in town! 2/10/2003

Pizza John's is defiinitely the best place in Baltimore to eat. I've been going there religiously (from Harford County) for pizza since I was 5 years old (that's over 15 years). Everything on the menu is great, especially the pizza! Pros: great pizza, good prices, good location Cons: self-service, needs more locations more

Why isn't this #1 2/9/2003

It's a travesty and a crime that Pizza John's is not number one on this list. Ledo's is good and all, but it's a chain franchise. Pizza John's is an original. Any pizza parlor that has gone up in the nieghborhood never stood a chance. Why, because the pizza is the best there is, period. Pros: Lots of parking, Well staffed Cons: Crowded more

BEST THING IN ESSEX! 1/9/2003

GREAT PIZZA, CHEESE STEAK, ONION RINGS, EVERYTHING IS GREAT! YOU CAN EAT IN OR CARRY OUT. PARKING NEVER A PROBLEM. I THINK THEY SELL BEER & MAYBE WINE. Pros: GOOD FOOD, GOOD PARKING Cons: NEIGHBORHOOD more

*this* is the best pizza in town, hon! 1/2/2003

The most excellent pizza in town, but you'll have to travel to Essex to get it! I don't know how places like Ledo and Pizza Hut can make it in the top ten, when it's the mom-n-pop pizzerias that always have the best pizza. Try a large pizza with meat sauce and pepperoni - you won't regret it. (And the leftovers make a great breakfast!) Pros: pizza Cons: limited nonsmoking more

The Best Ever 12/13/2002

I have been going to Pizza John's since as long as i can remember, and nothing has changed about the food. the people who run the place are great, and it is a family oriented business. Pros: Great Food Cons: Busy on Fri and Sat more

Excellent PIZZA!!! 12/6/2002

I have been going to Pizza John for as long as I can remember. At my family's house it's a Friday tradition to have Piza John's pizza! Pros: Service, Great Food more

Best in town!! 12/6/2002

When I moved to the area, I found a house behind Pizza John's to be close! Best italian food outside of Little Italy. The best. Pros: Good parking, Delicious, Good value Cons: In Essex more

wonderful 12/5/2002

great food, wonderful customer service, and a very nice businsess enviroment. more

World's #1 Pizza! 11/27/2002

My family has been patrons of Pizza John's since its inception in 1966 Although somewhat small in size, it has been a very largely important part of my life, growing up in Essex, and enjoying many an Italian dinner there through the courtesy of its reputable owner, John Coruzzi (Formerly of Squire's of Dundalk) I do not feel I am home unless I eat a pizze or Italian pasta dinner at Pizza John's! Pros: Tastiest Pizza Ever!, Very affordable, True Italian Ambiance Cons: Somewhat small size, Can be crowded more

simply scrumptious 11/15/2002

The best pepperoni and meat sauce pizza anyone could ask for Pros: great food, reasonable prices Cons: pick up area more
