Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse

Wish I could say I loved this place the prices on the happy hour are amazing but once the food came it was inedible. The only bright spots were the service and the atmosphere. more

GF took me here for my Bday. I had never been. I am a big fan of Capital Grille and this wasn't close, of course the prices aren't the same either. We started with the calamari. Was good. A little weird that there were peppers in it that were not appealing. Next, we split a spinach and bacon salad. It was good, definitely worth the 5 dollar price. For main entres my gf had the sea bass and it was good, nothing special. I had the ribeye and first few bites through the marbling, which should be the tastiest, tasted weird. Not sure what got charred on there, but wasn't good. The rest of the ribeye was fine. Ordered it to be cooked with a brandied sauce, that doesn't happen. It comes as a side. Wasn't expecting that. For sides we ordered brocoli which was fine. We also ordered the hasbrown blue. This sounds better on the menu than it is. It's plain old hasbrowns with blue cheese thrown on top. Not worth it. I get the same hasbrowns when i eat out for breakfast. Pros: Service, Atmosphere Cons: 2 person tables no good. Price more

Went here with my girlfriend and parents to celebrate my birthday - because, hey, I'm not buying. Certainly an experience I won't forgot. Started off on a bad foot when they say us in different areas of the restaurant telling us both that ""the rest of the party hasn't arrived"". Took us 20 minutes to figure out that they had indeed arrived - our first waitress laughed and said ""It happens all the time""... really!? In a high-class restaurant you can't get get the parties together when they make reservations under a not-so-common last name... wow! It was very busy for a Tuesday evening, but we got our food fairly quick and it was delicious - I tried a little of everyone's just to make sure :) After we were done with dinner and dessert, we waited another 20 minutes for our waitress to return with the bill. She was either that spacey or that busy... either way, the restaurant manager is responsible. That said, great food, but there are so many other great steak places in Minnesota that I will visit before coming back here. The next day I find out via Facebook that many of my other friends thought the service was horrible, too. So my assessment is that they jack up the prices to attract the pretentious eaters who won't eat anything under $50 a plate, but could really give a darn about the service. Sad, so much potential... I have only been there once but it was awesome!! My husband has a hard time spending a lot of money on a meal but he took me anyway. He ordered the wallye and I had the filet with lump crab. That was the most tender steak I have ever had in my lfe. The bread they give you is to die for. Seating was quick for a Friday night without reservations, however I doubt we'll be back. Steaks ordered med. well come out medium; we were told to expect a slight pink center but these were red. A side I was told had no onions had onions. Service was attentive and water glasses promptly refilled, but I didn't even want to try dessert after what happened with the meal.
