Best

Best fish tacos I've ever had. Since eating these I don't seem to like them anywhere else that I've tried. Somthing about that sauce they use. MMmmm!

Sad to say we went by there yesterday to have lunch and they were closed and the place was cleaned out and empty. Sad to see such a great place go out of business after all these years! more

Great Mexican 9/23/2011

great food, friendly staff - I love everything in their menu - the ribs, burritos, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty their salmon is. My kids love it too because they have some kid-friendly meals, so the whole family enjoys the Pistol Pete experience. more

Pretty Good! 8/31/2011

Good food, nice atmosphere.I had the salmon burrito,it was it big, and the sauce they smothered it with was great. My girlfriend had the chili verde soup and I am not a fan of green sauce but I had to admit that it was tasty. All in all the food was good, not at all pricey, a nice staff and clean.I will be back! more

Not like it used to be! 8/18/2011

We have eaten at Pistol Pete's many times and our very favorite thing there is the ribs. They have a maple honey glaze and fall off the bone. Really quite good. My husband and I would get a full rack with an extra baked potato and side salad (as it already comes with one of each). For the original meal, we would pay $18.00, then add on the extra's. The bill would be about $26.00 ish. However the last time we went, they had cut the portion to a half rack and kept the price at $18.00. We were so very disappointed. They claimed to be losing money with a full rack at that price. So, rather than raising the price, they cut the quantity of the meal by half. We are so very disappointed. I doubt that we will be back. Their mexican is good, but so it the place just below it La Cocina. more

Pistol Pete's - A Hidden Gem! 1/21/2011

We tried Pistol Pete’s tonight (in the Fort Union area). Not only is the atmosphere fun and trendy, but the service is fast and food is delicious. I had a tiny taste of everything that was ordered by my table and I really liked it ALL. I can’t wait to have my own plate of flat enchiladas next time! My husband was thrilled with the salsa bar. And my 5 year old, who hates going to Mexican restaurants, was able to get chicken nuggets and fries and said he wants to go again. Because the restaurant is off the main road it feels like a HIDDEN GEM. more

Good Food, Good Price 5/29/2009

After going to Pistol Pete's a few times I can definitely say they have consistently cooked great food (and cooked it very quickly). Some of the best fajitas I've ever had. You can tell they don't use cheap meat (or they're just really good at trimming chicken). The prices are very reasonable. They don't have any waiters; they bring your food out to you after you order. For some, that could be a drawback but it saves you money on your tip. The atmosphere is relaxed and it's a great place for a simple dinner out. Pros: Well made, quality food at a decent price. Cons: No free chips and salsa. more

It's real!!! 3/8/2009

I went to the place last week. I also was told that they are reopening on March 12. I can't wait for them to reopen, my birthday is comming soon and I really want to celebrate it in Pistol Pete's. more

What Happened???? 2/23/2009

What happened to Pistol Pete's? Last I checked they were closed. The sign on the door said that they would reopen begining of January 09. It's the end of Feb now and they are still not open. What gives? I really miss the fish tacos. more

WOW and WOW again! 9/6/2008

Our friends took us to this restaurant over the weekend and I have never tasted anything so spectacular in my life. I was a long time Cafe Rio fan, but never again. The food was served fast, and hot! And was delicious. I had their chimichunga with burro sauce and lettuce and tomatoes on the side. The portion was enormous and I feel I got what I paid for and more. The service was friendly and the man and the register very funny! He even thanked us as we left (very sincerely) which I thought was wonderful and very personable. Such a nice relaxing place to eat. I didn't feel rushed to eat, even though the place was full. I also didn't feel overrun by other guests, the booth we sat in had a high back so I felt very intimate with my other guests. There were tv's on, but they were not blaring sound, something I despise at restaurants. I am sad that a location isn't in Utah County - PLEASE COME DOWN HERE SOON! I agree with another reviewer in that Pistol Pete's should take the place of the Cafe Rio's, it does need to be a household name!!! Thank you for your tasty food and wonderful restaurant, we had a wonderful time and plan to eat there every time we are in the Salt Lake Valley! Pros: Good food, big portions for the price. Relaxing atmosphere. Kind service. Cons: Not one in Utah County!!!! more

our favorite restaurant 5/26/2007

my husband and i eat here at least twice a month. we used to live really close and would eat there once a week and now although we live 30 minutes away, we still eat here every chance we get. the burros are amazing and reasonably priced...it is so reasonably priced and we have never had anything but the best service there...even when we call to get take-out and we are less than 10 minutes away, they always have our food ready on our arrival. we also love the fact that they reward us for coming often...unlike other incentive cards where you have to get 15 or more stamps before you get a free meal, this smaller number of stamps(i think it is eight) allows them to be filled up with stamps often and redeemed for free meals. everyone i have ever introduced this restaurant to(friends, coworkers, family) not only love it, but frequent it often. Pros: food, portion sizes, pricing, service Cons: closed on sundays more

Saddle up Cafe Rio!! This is Pete's Town!!!!! 4/11/2007

\r \r I've been going to Pistol Pete's since it opened, and I love it. The food is so very tasty (love those chicken nachos with the puja salsa) and even when busy there is virtually no wait. Fast, delicious food at a fair price. The only problem at this point is that there is only one location. I used to live three blocks away, but now I have to drive 35 minutes to satisfy my Pete's fix (though it is definitely worth it). If it was up to me all of the Cafe Rio locations would be replaced with a Pistol Pete's, because with food like this, they deserve to be the talk of the town. more

Freaking Awesome! 8/4/2006

I wasn' t sure what to expect with ""Bistro"" in the name then walking through a standard line to order, but WOW! The food was awesome and the people friendly. I'm going back and I'm taking more people with me! more

Nice Mexican Surprise 11/22/2005

This restaurant is hard to spot but when you find it you'll never forget where it is again. When I first went there I really wasn't expecting much but I was astonished by the size of the portions. I got the fajitas and I can eat alot but I couldn't even finish half of the meal. Another thing too is that they give you plenty of tortillas, other places only give you three or so. The service is fast and friendly. The owner is there quite a bit and he wants to make sure your experience is wonderful. I'm recommending this place to all my friends. Pros: fast service, nice enviroment Cons: hard to spot more

Awesome fish tacos 11/8/2005

My favorite thing here is the fish taco. They have a different spin on the usual fish taco. Very spicy and very delicious! more

I COULD EAT HERE EVERY DAY!!! 5/27/2005

Never have I had such miraculous food! I really could eat here every day! The portions are COLOSSAL!! The fish taco is one of my all time favorites, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE FISH.....my sister absolutely despises fish in all forms, but orders this almost every time we go. The service is ""blazingly"" fast, the hot-fresh food comes out before you have a chance to sit down, that's how fast they are! And those HOMEMADE tortillas, ooh boy, ooh boy! Nothing like them in the world. I also will shout from the mountain tops how incredibly delicious and savory the AL PASTOR (marinated pork - sweet) is on those NOGALES TACOS and SALADS. Shame on you if you haven't discovered PISTOL PETE'S, this restaurant is truly a ""where have you been all my life"" establishment!! Pros: LOTS of seating, lots of choices, inexpensive more

Amazing food 5/21/2005

I think pistol petes has the best mexican food I've ever tasted, and I eat there atleast 4 times a week. The fish taco and the nagoles enchiladas are among my favorite. Mexican food I've eaten in the past has had somewhat of a bland taste to it, but this really doesn't at all. I highly recommend it! Pros: Great service, Quality and Quantity, unique Cons: hard to find location more

great food at a better price 5/17/2005

I couldn't help but winder what kind of food i was going to get when i had to pay $9 for a fish burrito. i have to tell you that this is the best burrito or ""burro ' that i have ever had. the portion on this thing was huge! I can eat alot of food and this thing filled me up. it must have been 8 or 9 inches long and atleast 2 or 3 thick. and the flavor of that spicey sauce that they use . wow i would sugesset this for great food at a great price Pros: large food for cheap, fun atmosphere, very quick service more
