Tourist trap..looking for fun? Great place! Looking for a taste in your steaks? Pay more and go some other place.

Catch up with the 21st Century!!!! 4/18/2011

We went there for a birthday dinner on Sunday, April 17th and will never go back again when there are a lot better places in Tucson to go eat a steak. The service was very lackluster and had to ask for everything. The prices are way too high and my grandson fell off his booster seat because they are too cheapp to buy modern ones like every place does in Tucson! When my wife confronted the manager about the safety of the seat she said , "" Oh my is he alright""? Well we expected a different reaction to the situation. more

Don't Bother 8/31/2010

Went there after getting recommendations such as some of these. The atmosphere is nice but the food was terrible! Steaks are absolutely awful! I tried the filet mignon and my husband tried the T-bone. We are from Texas and know a good quality meat. Don't bother. If anyone has a Good suggestion, please provide. Still looking for that perfect steak in Tucson (new in the area). For now, the Rib Eye at Texas Roadhouse is great! more

Touristy? Yes, but the steak is great. 8/30/2009

I avoid going to Pinnacle Peak on any night that could be popular among the tourists... trying to get a table, and then actually enjoying your meal, is virtually impossible in an atmosphere clogged by tourists. Pros: great food Cons: tourists allowing their children to run wild more

Over stepping the line 10/6/2008

While the food at Pinnacle Peak is every bit of what you pay for I have to say the 'tie cutting"" needs to be rethought. My first encounter in the establishment cost me a $1000 silk tie without warning. I walked in the front to make a few querries as to availablility for a party of 20+. The individual who was the focus of my questions quickly reached across the intervening space and sliced off my tie without any form of warning. This having been my first time to this establishment I felt that doing so was completely out of line. I had to pull myself up short not to immediately strike this individual who had stuck a sharp object near my throat without warning of any sort while attempting to comply with the standing policy. Such actions as this while giving the place a definite point of note seriously need to be considered. Some individuals who would have such a thing done to them wouldn't hesitate a second to assault someone coming at them with a set of shears unexpectedly or clariffication. Needless to say I grabbed the remains of my vaunted tie and immediately left the establishment a bit wiser and more than a bit insulted at the lack of basic courtesy. Had I been asked I would have gladly removed the tie rather than have it unexpectedly sliced from below my chin without warning. Pros: Excellent food, professional service Cons: Tie cutting needs to be approached a bit more professionally. more

Dinner AND a Show! 4/25/2008

Take our visitors every time we have some. There is a really cool show outside before dinner, a walk-through old timey ""town,"" gift shops, candy shop that sells older types of candy & AWESOME fudge, plus the restaurant itself is pretty cool. The service is pretty good, plus the whole ""no tie"" thing makes it fun for the kiddies (I won't ruin it with details, but have your kid go in wearing an old tie...they'll love it!). The food was okay, my husband loves the steak but I find it a little better than something you'd make yourself. The show is free, they take donations, but it has awesome special effects, and is quite comical. I'd definently recommend this as a show off spot for out of towners. Pros: Show, atmosphere Cons: Food was average. more

Best steak in town. 7/1/2007

Been going there since before it burned down in the 70""s. Love it, Great place to stroll after dinner. Best steaks in town. Pros: Good food and ambience Cons: Sometimes a little noisy. more

Good food 12/8/2006

The food was good but the place is busy and way to many children are allowed in. If you do not mind an abunance of children while you are enjoying your food you will have a good time. Pros: The grounds Cons: The children more

great for the kids 11/13/2006

i love pinnacle peak because they have a great atmosphere for kids or out of towners who want to get a sense of what old tucson is really like. they have great menu items as well, really something for everyone. more

Used to be the Best Steak in Tucson 10/26/2006

Steak in Tucson meant only ONE place. Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse. I don't know what happened but everyone In my family has said..its NOT good anymore. They used to cook your steak the way YOU wanted and the steak was always tender and juicy. I hope they get back whatever they lost...weather the cook's, customer service or what...Please Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse bring it back to light, it has been a Tucson Landmark since I was little. Now all the other steak houses are worse!. Pros: Ambience is good Cons: Food has gone downhill :( more

Good steak and fun atmosphere 8/20/2006

If you have family in town or if you need to feed a large group you need to visit Pinnacle Peak. There are shows and entertainment while you wait to pass the time. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait, sometimes an hour. If you have an appatite and want the big porterhouse the offer, you need to get in early beause the sell out all the time. The menu is simple and sometimes the service is slow but the atmosphere makes up for it. Pros: Good steak, awesome atmosphere and really cool shows Cons: Slow service, long waits. more

If you want a cheap steak here is where to get it. 7/31/2006

Went there on a Friday night, and had a 1 lb. T-bone that had no flavor to it. Had a lot of fat, and tough. Sent it back, and got another steak of the same quality. If you want a cheap steak, go here. If you want quality go elsewhere. Pros: Cheap Cons: you get what you pay for. more

User review by stepsd 11/28/2005

My daughter brought me here once(she loves it). I thought the steak was very tough and the beans were not seasoned, not a great meal, probably what you would have found in a saloon in the old west days. We also had to wait quite a while for a table. Pros: old west feel Cons: bad steak more

So Much Fun! 6/14/2005

Pinnacle Peak in Trail Dust Town is a great place to take family members and have an all-out great time! There is so much to do after you enjoy a wonderful Mesquite Grilled Steak! Oh sooooo good! Nightly stunt shows are incredibly funny and several shops to browse through add just the right touch to the evening. I highly recommend Pinnacle Peak to anyone who is looking for enjoyable food and good family fun! Also, the Savoy Opera House is a private banquet hall, that has a victorian theme for any event! Lots of weddings and corporate events held there! Pros: Friendly, Fun, Delicious more

Staying power 3/8/2005

I grew up in Tucson and went back after being away for 15 years and Pinnacle Peak lived up to all my memories of the food. It was a blast to take my husband there. Pinnacle Peak was the first resteraunt that I wanted to go to when visiting Tucson. I recommend it. more

fun with great food 3/11/2004

We lived in Tucson for a while before moving to California. We were introduced to Pinnacle Peak by some friends. It was a distance from our home, but well worth the drive. Now we try to get there when ever we go back to Tucson for visits. There is no place that compares where we currently live. Go, enjoy! But if you insist on wearing a tie, make sure its one you would like to see eliminated from your wardrobe. Its fun to see all the wierd ties hanging from the rafters. The food is great and the staff is fun. Pros: Fun ambiance, Great food, Prompt, friendly serv more

Family Event 3/11/2004

When we lived in Tucson it was a family tradition to go to Pinnacle Peak before heading to the latest show at the Gaslight Theater. We took turns wearing a tie until we'd all had one cut off. We always had the Pit Beef and loved it! Lots of food and budget prices. They used to have more sauce choices for the beef, but what they have now is still good. Always debated trying to conquer the 2 lb steak, but never could pass up the Pit Beef! We're going back next month to visit, and it will be my daughter's turn to wear the tie! Can't wait! Pros: Atmosphere, Plenty of great food, Family friendly more

Tourists Only 3/7/2004

Unless you want to get rid of an old tie or think that dining at someplace like Furr's is a treat, avoid this place. The meat is tough; the atmosphere is loud; and you'll still be waiting for something called service. Go to the Ranchers Club, Sullivans, or McMahons if you're looking for a great steak. Pros: inexpensive Cons: , cheap meat more

For tourists only 3/7/2004

When I first moved to Tucson a few years ago, EVERYONE recommended Pinnacle Peak for a great steak. After eating there, I realize that I must have a different opinion of a great steak than most people. While you do get a lot of food for your money, you get what you pay for. The steaks are not the best quality, the beans are bland, and the salads are yawn-worthy. It does have an 'Old West' feel to it, and is therefore good for tourists, and also has much to do for kids. But for grown-ups with no kids, looking for a quality steak dinner, this is not it. And while they do take your tie and nail it to the rafters, I don't imagine they've ever cleaned their collection, by the amount of dust hanging off of them... Pros: Interesting ambiance, cheap eats Cons: , not quality eats, a little dirty more

Tom 11/17/2003

This place is a joke. The waitresses look (and act) like your old boozer Aunt Nellie, the steaks are like shoe leather, the only decent thing on the menu is the beans. Don't be lured in by the ill-informed and/or paid reviews. Stay away! more
