Beware of this Place!!! These Ladies are Rude!!! 12/13/2008

My girlfriends and I went here and were sadly disappointed. The shop is beautiful, but the staff is very unfriendly. Our tea was cold and was overpriced. The high tea is not traditional and the food was very bland. I would rather go to a gas station for tea than this place. When we told them our tea was cold they said that we were mistaken and walked away. These ladies are really really not professional!!! Do not waste your money. more

Unfriendly and Substandard Service, but Good Tea 5/10/2008

When I logged on to write this review, I wasn't surprised to see that another had given the service at the Pineapple Tea Room a poor rating. Pros: Good tea, nice linens & tea cups, good cheesecake and chocolate Cons: Unbelievably rude owners, small, devonshire cream and scones, overpriced for such poor service more

Poor customer service, but nice products 4/18/2008

I had an English friend in town visiting and so I thought we'd enjoy an afternoon tea in downtown Apex. The Pineapple Tea Room does have a nice selection of teas and tea-related items. The afternoon tea itself, however, was rather disappointing. Both my friend and I inquired about the French Breakfast tea since we did not see English Breakfast on the menu. Our hostess said it was quite nice and had a creamy quality to it. We both ordered it and anxiously awaited our steaming teapots. After our first sips of the tea, we looked at each other and tried to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with the tea. It was certainly not at all like an English Breakfast tea and had some other sweet flavor mixed in-- possibly vanilla. When our hostess returned a short while later to inquire how we were enjoying the tea, I reluctantly (and pleasantly) told her that it had some flavor we did not like or expect and did they have a plainer tea available? She seemed surprised and said yes, they could bring us English Breakfast tea, but they would have to charge us extra! We were astounded. We were paying $18 per person for a cup of tea, a few finger sandwiches a piece, a few small, assorted pastries, and a scone and they were going to charge us extra for tea! Both my friend and I have had high tea in a variety of locations and cannot believe that any of them would charge extra for requesting a different tea. In fact, most other places offering high tea encourage the patrons to try a different tea after they have finished their first selection. Not so here. At any rate, the selection of pastries and sandwiches was nice, but nothing spectacular. The Devon cream did not appear to be true Devon cream, but perhaps a whipped cream or something. Disappointing since the Pineapple Tea Room does, indeed, sell Devon cream in its store. The English Breakfast tea they charged us for turned out to be delicious, but we were never offered more hot water. Pros: ample parking, cozy atmosphere, intimate setting, nice selection of tea Cons: bathroom is inconveniently located, service is a bit awkward more
