I have been a member of many clubs and studios in Portland but this is one of the best! Hannah has created a beautiful and functional space for clients to experience her unique program. She is very accommodating for any fitness level and always uses care when aware of your bodies' stress points. One very nice touch is at the end of class when you are lying on your mat, Hannah comes around and massages just the right amount of essential oil on your temples so you leave with calm and stress gone! And your workout was fun and effective. I highly recommend this studio--very worth the price! more

Dear Pilogarobic: Please come to Seattle! I recently moved away and am already missing Pilogarobic workouts. Over the last year their workouts helped me to the best all-around fitness level I've ever achieved, and the classes are so varied I feel like I never even did the same exercise twice! The instructors give multiple difficulty options for each workout and there's never pressure to do anything you're not comfortable doing. Plus the new studio is beautiful! more

I just love this place. Not only am I in better, more balanced shape than ever, the studio is stunning and the trainers are phenomenal. They work with you on a personal level and classes fly by with good music and ever-changing workouts. Whether I need to sweat it out with one of Hannah's specialty circuits, or need to reboot with a peaceful-but-butt-kicking pilates sesh with Keph, I always leave feeling great. more

I love their new location!! Dont get me wrong I was a huge fan of the spot before but now they have a bigger spot that is gorgeous! Not to mention the extra more intimate yoga room and even a room for massage! more

My new fav studio 1/7/2011

So, this place is super great!! I started going to classes a few weeks ago and I am kinda obsessed now. The instructors are great and the workouts are super unique, never repeditive so I don't get bored. They work us pretty hard but lots of good stretching and relaxation too... I like to get a little sore from a really good workout, I definately get that from this place. Great circuit workouts on Fridays, just finished one in fact, they are intense but a great way to end the week!! Also, they have student deals...great for those of us who have returned to school. Check it out!! more

Best Classes in Portland! 1/2/2011

There is such a wonderful variety of classes to choose from. I LOVE the circuit classes. They give me the greatest workout, and I can't wait to do another! If I feel like sweating less, I'll go the candlelight yoga class. I always get overwhelmingly positive encouragement from the instructors, and their enthusiasm will keep me coming back week after week. Also, their new studio is beautiful. :-) As I said, these are the best classes in Portland. more

i lost my ""tummy""! 11/30/2010

my experience with Ishbel and Hannah at Pil-oga-robic since march 2010 has been nothing but phenominal. they truly make their classes fun, butt kickin' (and more, if you choose) and great for conditioning, sculpting, and keeping me lean and limber. i started Pil-oga-robic with slight limitations in my shoulder (partial tear in rotator cuff) and low back (herniated disc). they've done a great job in getting me into the shape and condition i've always wanted without aggrevating either of my sore spots. they always give options/alternatives in the classes that allows me to push myself as hard as i want (sometimes more then they want) yet i always wake up the next day without any additional pain to my shoulder or back? but the same can't be said for my muscles, as after each class some muscle group which i don't regularly use during my tennis matches/lessons, in my own workout with weights, or sitting in front of a computer all day, has been worked hard! a two+ hour tennis match is no longer a concern as i trust that my workouts with Hannah and Ishbel will get me through any three-tiebreaker sets, no problem. the time spent in each class which includes pilates, yoga, cardio and strength training (especially in the circuit classes) combined or seperately gives my entire body a fantastic workout and a great stretch. outdoor classes during the summer includes running stairs up in the west hills or into forest park with emphasis in proper running technique, or jumping-skipping-hopping at the park is another part of their well-rounded workout which i love. they have so much more to offer at their studio, that i? love it! love them! love how they make me feel! more

Best Workout in Portland, Seriously. 6/10/2010

I bought a brand new outfit to start working out in for my New Years resolution, after 2 weeks my pants would not even stay on. Pros: lost inches in the first month, instructors are wonderful! Cons: It is pricy, and too far from my house. more

Great workout 6/10/2010

I have done the step aerobics thing, the running thing, the elliptical and the treadmill. I've done strength training, core workout classes and yoga. I was burned out. And then I stumbled into this class. Ish and Hannah are great teachers. Each has her own strengths and so they compliment each other well. You get a cardio workout that's never boring, a pilates workout that's never easy and a yoga workout that never fails to leave you feeling great. They are very careful to understand your weaknesses, injuries, past problems and future goals. They are very good at checking in and checking up and will always offer an adjustment to maximize the effectiveness and safety of the moves. The other thing I want to say is that the class is populated by very nice, down to earth women with senses of humor and good attitudes. You are never made to feel awkward or uneasy because of your current level of fitness, appearance or dress. It's a safe place to find your way back to working out but also a place that will kick your butt regardless of your level of fitness. Pros: Well rounded workout...personal touch more

Best fitness workout I've ever had 11/24/2009

Hannah and Ishbel are very knowledgeable in their fields. The class includes pilates, yoga, cardio and strength training and instruction accommodates the needs of the individual student. I'm in the best shape I've been in for almost 20 years, coming back from an injury. Highly recommend this for anyone who is recovering from an injury, wants to get in shape or truly wants to feel energized. Delightful! Pros: Excellent Instructors- Cons: Suffer withdrawls when I can't make it to class. more

awesome Pilates class with Ishbel 8/14/2009

I?ve been taking Pilates with Ishbel since the beginning of 2007. It?s uncharacteristic for me to have consistently exercised for such an extended period of time, but I?ve rarely missed a class unless ill or traveling. That I look forward to Tuesday and Thursday mornings is due in very large part to Ishbel?s delightful personality and high-quality instruction. Ishbel leads our class with good humor and creates a fun (yet calming) atmosphere that is welcoming and encouraging to all, no matter what a person?s ability or experience. Her instructions and demonstrations are clear - much of Pilates happens in the mind and she has a great repertoire of helpful metaphors. She keeps the class interesting and our bodies challenged with frequent variations on the standards and introduction of new moves (seriously, in 18 months I?ve never been bored). Although the group is occasionally large, Ishbel is always alert to what students are doing and provides individual attention where needed. When new students join the class, I?ve been especially impressed by her inquiries about injuries or limitations and ingenuity in adapting poses to special needs ? even going so far as to research and return to class with options if she doesn?t have an immediate solution. (Personally, I?m grateful for the rolled-up-mat trick.) I?ve gained strength and flexibility, but I?ve also gained a renewed appreciation of what my body can do (I like it more than I used to). I?ve noticed those changes in my daily life - better posture, fewer injuries (excellent back protection when gardening and golfing), reduced stress and so forth. Great Work-Out for Body and Mind 7/28/2009

Pil-oga-robics is the workout I had been looking for! Yoga alone couldn't hold my interest, I found myself getting bored after my own cardio workouts and pilates were good but didn't quite work me as hard as I wanted in the amount of time that I had available. Pil-oga-robics snapped me out of my excercise boredom and got me into tip-top shape! I am more toned and I feel like my cardio endurance has been boosted significantly. Hannah and Ishbel are wonderful instructors, always offering helpful adjustments and really taking the time to understand any individual needs. Each class ends in shivasina, which gets my day off to a great start. All in all, the classes have improved my physical and mental health dramatically. Pros: kicks your butt and refreshes your head in only an hour more

Great class! 7/21/2009

I go to this class 3 times a week and love it! I normally hate working out but this class goes by so fast and is so much fun, I am on my second month with them! They have helped me heal an injury that has been ailing me for 2+ years and I am feeling great! Seriously try them! Its so fun! Pros: only an hour but you definitely feel it! Cons: Im sore the next day:) more
