Bad Crabs & Poor Mgmt 5/22/2012

Although I have always lived on the northwest side pretty much, I've always purchased my crabs from the east. A family member told me of this place and I visited 4 different times. I was pretty pleased with the crabs up until about a week ago. I called my crabs in (which I never did before) and when I picked them up and got home they were a HUGE disappointment!! I paid $55 for them and because I have purchased crabs from them several times before I knew these were the $39 crabs. Not only that, I was so tired that I just wanted to eat my crabs and take a nap. However, as I got to cracking them open they were empty, quite a few were black on the inside and I was just oh so disappointed. I returned them but was told that all they could give me was the mediums but would give me 1 1/2 dozen of them. I got home and they were almost just as bad, empty and black on the inside. I've called for the manager several times. I have gotten so many crappy stories about when to call back. I got off early to get in there at the time they claim he's there, only to get a waitress ask me what was it about so she could tell him. She returned from the back to tell me he wasn't there and she would take my name and number and he would get back with me. He has no plans on calling back because I'm just one customer. I work in customer service and know what a caring manager does. This isn't it! You ripped me off and I plan on letting everyone that cares to know, know! ALL of my family know me as the crab girl because I eat them once to twice a week. more

Profanity & fighting in front in your children 3/2/2011

Last night i took my children to this local restaurant since i heard such great things from the school. Well, to my surprised as we began to enjoy our dessert & meals, the distrubing loud profanity & noise, just made me so uncomfortable & tense. I asked several of the waitress is everything ok, I heard arguing & banging echoing from the kitchen & was told yes everything is fine. The waitress continued cleaning & fixing tables as the rude, vulgar words continued to bellow from the kitchen. At this point I'm unsure what to do. Is someone in the kitchen being attacked & hurt? Will my children & I be next? The waitress is going about things as normal. But at this point I'm afraid, can't eat. I asked my children to get themselves together quickly. Then a gentleman came from the bar yelling 'She would not act this way if Jews were eating here'. Again not sure what's going on, I grabbed my children & hurried to the exit. I asked was mgnt here? Again to my surprised when I found out The person in the kitchen cursing & throwing things was the OWNER. Never, had i experience anything like this before in a family environment. If you go to Pike's Diner make sure you keep your children close & eat with the keys in your hands. (You may have to run out) more

Bonkers for Breakfast! 2/7/2011

In true diner style the Pikes has breakfast all day and there is nothing I love more than breakfast for dinner. I ordered an omelette and it was enough to feed two or three people. It was light and fluffy and overflowing with cheese and veggies. My husband had three of the largest blueberry pancakes I have ever seen. The coffee was hot and fresh and the cup was truly bottomless. The atmosphere was fun and the service was diligent and friendly. We will definately be back. more

Love it! 8/23/2010

I love Pike's! I'm sorry that it seems to be that no one else has enjoyed it. The atmosphere is fun. All of the old movie memorabilia is great. I've never had bad service, and have always enjoyed the food. The Elvis Impersonator on Thursday evenings is great! And so are the crabs. All you can eat crabs on Mondays has really blown up so you do have to have reservations. We made the mistake of not having them a couple weeks ago so we sat in the bar and just had dinner. I give Pike's 2 thumbs up! more

refused service 8/9/2010

After seeing a 1/4 page ad on the back page of the LIVE! section of the Baltimore Sun this past Friday 8/6/10 for all you can eat crabs, soup, corn, etc ""all summer long"" with no specific times mentioned, nor any reservations required, we went there this afternoon, 8/9/10 at about 4:10 PM for dinner. The hostess, as instructed by the manager told us to sit wherever we chose as no other patrons were in there. After being seated, we asked for crabs. The server walked away, then returned telling us that the crabs are not served until after 5. I thought this to be odd as 4 customers walking out told us how good the crabs were that they just had!!! We said we would have a drink and wait til 5. The server came back telling us that tables were by reservation only and that we could not be served. We asked for the manager, who originally told us to be seated. He insisted that he was booked for the entire evening and could not serve us. When we mentioned the ad he said he did not care what it said, that we must have reservations. He became very loud and nasty until our only choice was to leave. As I stated above, there were no other customers in the entire place. In my 53 years on this earth I have never had anyone in a restaurant act or speak this way and will certainly never set foot in there again. more

MOUSE SIGHTING 5/29/2010

Last night we saw a mouse running around in the restaurant. We quickly left (after paying). The service staff and management did not seem phased at our sighting. We will, obviously, not return. Cons: bad food, rude management, RODENTS more

HOLY PRICES BATMAN 4/9/2010

We have gotten breakfast from Pikes on numerous occasions. Sometimes the food is good, at best. Other times it has down right sucked. ""A new cook"" got the blame when we called about over easy eggs which were fried hard. Someone in my office just ordered a veggie omelet, with cheddar cheese and a diet soda. In my head I'd think 10 bucks max, including tax but nope, a big ole 14.08??!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!! Now I admit, I'll gladly pay over 10 bucks for an omelet alone...giving that it contains smoked salmon and cream cheese....but for a few veggies in what I can almost guarantee will be slightly burnt eggs, no thanks! Peace out Pikes. Jillys is better, better prices indeed. Owned by the same kat as Pikes. Pros: Cool atmosphere Cons: Overpriced more

Food was spoiled 2/20/2010

As Pikesville residents we have been eating at the Pikes for many years. Recently, we were served food that was spoiled. On our last visit the egg salad was well past any expiration date and had to be sent back, leaving me with no appetite! We are finally finished and cannot eat here any more. Go to Jilly's across the street. The food there is edible, at least. Pros: Large portions Cons: Spoiled food more

final grade F 1/10/2010

the toast was the ends of the bread which was a total slap in the face. The eggs that i was given was the smallest eggs i have ever seam being served. I ordered home fried potoates and recieved sliced potatoes and when i didn't eat it and sent it back and was still forced to pay for it. SO THEY HAVE THIEVES WORKING THERE. Now lets talk about how slow the service was. I had to wait 20 minutes for everything getting a menu(20minutes wait), ordering(20minutes wait),getting food for 1 in a barely filled restaurant(20minutes wait),getting more coffee(20minutes wait) getting my check(20minutes wait). So if you want the have a bad meal go here and leave pissed off. Pros: the layout was nice Cons: food and service more

Famdamntastic 6/3/2008

I have been to the Pikes on 3 seperate occasions and I am going back to have a surprise party for my best friend. Pros: Great location, attmosphere fantastic if u like old Hollywood, huge booths, ladies room clean and well supplied Cons: not enough handicapped parking (4 spots) more

Horrible service 7/28/2007

I just got back from eating lunch here. I waited awhile for my food, but didn't think too much of it. The food was good, but the waitress never came back to refill our drinks or anything. We asked for dessert (to go) and our check. We waited for 25 minutes, then we got up and finally had to get someone else to help us. They offered no apologies and no discounts on the food. We never did get our dessert and the waitress didn't get a tip. The food was good, but it isn't good enough to make up for the poor service and poor management. There are too many places out there willing to give good service in return for our money. This place doesn't deserve it. Pros: good food Cons: poor service, poor management more
