Just what I needed 2/18/2011

I don't usually go out much but my girlfriend dragged me out. I had so much fun at Pierce Street. I am so glad I went. We had so much fun dancing. (they have a big dance floor) and we had an amazing waitress. Her name was Marissa. I suggest you sit in her station. She was so sweet and fun. Very personable. Drinks were very reasonably priced and we met a lot of people there. Very easy to socialize with crowd. When I go out, this will def be on the top of the list! more

Service was great and music was good 10/13/2010

I'm not really a club guy as I find them to be dull and overpriced. But at my last visit to Vegas, I visited here with my friend on his cousin's birthday. To my surprise it was the best place I have ever visited. The girls there were all smoking hot and there were plenty of them whether they were the waitresses, bartenders or others girls dancing there. The service was great and the music was good and that too; available at a very reasonable price. I will recommend them for true. more

Best Bar/My Home Bar 4/4/2010

It actually made me sad to read some of the reviews on here. This bar has been my home bar since the day I turned 21. In that time I have made countless friends and still hang out with them right here, every Tuesday and Sunday. OH. AND Monday. They just started a karaoke night, which is a BLAST. It really is family here. From DJ Daniel to Doug and Gordon. I truly love this place. It's my home away from home. Never a bad night here. Been coming here at least twice a week for over 2 years and I have not witnessed one fight or any misconduct. This bar is nothing but good times and even better people. Take my word for it. I'm a PSA veteran now. :-p PS - Hi, Daniel. I know you're reading this. Love all you guys! <3 Pros: Great music, dance floor, GREAT bartenders, DJs, Owners Cons: Cons? Nothing comes to mind. more

Pierce Street Annex 12/6/2008

About 30 years ago i went to work for Doug at the Pierce Street as their DJ. I think i was the first one. Although i havent been there in 30 years it remains today in my mind as the most fun i have ever had in a nite spot. I am currently working on the west coast and have every intention of visiting it on my way home. I hope it hasnt changed. T. Breedlove more

Straight from DJ Daniel 11/3/2008

Hello Everyone, its Dj Daniel here at Pierce Street every Sunday and Monday. I read a review describing my performance as tolerable? Due to not playing regulars requests. I play a mix as requested by the management. Hip Hop, Modern Rock, Old School, Classic Rock, Dance, Etc... If you request a song and are polite, NOT RUDE. Your song will likely get played. I even go as far as downloading a song if it dont have it. I almost never say no unless the song is crude or inappropriate. I do a all request live up in LA and playing other genras are not a problem. don't believe this behan's review. Pierce Street is great! I love going to work there, the locals are always fun, the bartenders make great drinks, you can even cook your own food on the patio's bbq grill, play some pool, foos ball, make some friends, Dance the night away, and have a good time everyday of the week! A GREAT NIEGHBORHOOD HANG OUT 10/22/2008

Don't believe the hype seen in previous reviews referencing "...not worth risking your life over." or, "... no religious tolorance." PSA is a great place to hang out whether it be after work for Happy Hour, or a full on Night Club experience on Friday and Saturday nights. A recent change in policy allows hats just so long as they have no dubious references. There is no cover charge, there is no waiting in stupid lines, and there is no pretentious snobbyness. What you will find is a varied mix of people, great drinks, and an awesome patio with a BBQ grill. They have great drink and food specials throughout the week making it even more appealing if you are on a budget. DJ Johnny B is great... DJ Daniel is tolerable (he won't play requests for regulars... just aweful pop and techno music ad nauseum) In any case PSA is still great. I recommend it highly! Pros: great drinks, unique atmosphere, bbq grill more

Great Mix of Music & People 10/8/2008

In reading these reviews, it seems many rate the experience on "1" specific occurance. As an objective person, here are the facts: I am 41(but never guess that) , family, professional, great shape, and luckily above average looks & dance skills. My wife and I visit this Location 2-3 times annually.--1st, arrive early (930ish) because it gets crowded at the blink of an eye. its nice to have a table to relax during the evening. NO COVER is a nice "un-O.C." way to begin the evening. The D.J. plays a wide range of music (Classic Rock, Hip Hop, R&B), but the dance floor is only average in size. The floor does get packed but NOT unbearable. The Service and Drinks are always above Average. There is a nice out-door area (large), and 2 pool tables inside the Bar, adjacent to the Dance Floor. There is a large mix of people that visit this establishment. As a result there might be a handful of people "YOU" would not associate with. If you are the OC-Judgemental Type, then you might be happier going to a "Snobby" place, because most people here are relatively friendly. As with any "club," you DO have the groups only looking to hook-up, however that's simply part of the entire experience. Everytime I've gone to this spot (Btn 25-41 yrs old), I have had a Great Time!!! Go there thinking you WILL meet Every HollyWood Diva, or thinking it will serve you a Seven Course Steak Meal, then you will be disappointed. If you Arrive anticipating an Exciting time for you and your friends, then You Will Certainly Have One!!! ~~ some reviews indictated only Hicks go to this place. Well, let me give you the Line-UP of friends I attended with 2 weeks ago. Me (Commercial Pilot), Wife (Doctor), Wife's co-worker, (Fe-Emerg Room Doctor), Sis-in law (Head Rep Fed-ex), Friend (local Police officer). Before you judge people, you might "ask," because you NEVER know! I did have one bad experience with "regulars" over the pool table, but that was "the individuals" & NOT the Business.....Go & Enjoy!!! Pros: Bar & Cocktail Service / Variety of music, but All Good Cons: None really (maybe overcrowded at midnight) more

Too dangerous not worth dying for 9/14/2008

This place was once a classy joint but not anymore. First of all they are too lax with their dress code in that now foolish mob members are walking in this place with their foolish white tee attire. I wet to this place after watching a couple of games at a sports bar, going here was a mistake. The place was full with a samoan organized mob who later cowardly tried to jump two gentlemen outside for no reason whatsoever.. They are the same people who were bullying people in the club pushing them and looking for a fight all thie time. The security at this place is too lenient with who they let in. In a nutshelll if you are going to risk your life going here, avoid standing next to any of those mob foolish members in sagging jeans and white tees. Especially teh samoans they are there to look for trouble half the time. This place has to have better security and control who is getting into their club to at least get their class back. more

Must go there 7/17/2008

That's the best bar in orange County. it's great to have fun with friends or make new friends. no dress code just not wear any kind of hat. more

dont cross the street 6/24/2008

Pierce Street Annex is a trendy kind of bar small dance floor. they do however have a great BBQ pit to make your own burgers. and they do have a nice staff. more

Skip it. 5/18/2008

Not that young of a crowd. However the bigger issue is that the dress code is apparently unmovable for religious tolerance. A medical student from UCI was not let in recently because he was wearing a turban. Google "pierce street annex no hats sikh" for the full story. Someone wearing head covering for the purpose of religion should not be barred because of a so-called dress code. What sort of ridiculous place is this? Cons: Religious intolerance more

Great great great 12/13/2007

This is such a great place! I've been there a few times now on Saturdays and Sundays. It's Really fun to go dance and on Sundays, the band is GREAT!!! Drinks are pretty cheap unless you order something with redbull. The bartenders are pretty cool and my favorate waitress Marisa is really cool and friendly. We always have fun with her and good conversation. Very upbeat. I absolutely recommend the place! See you there one of these nights soon. Oh yeah! One of the best parts is you can grill your own food out on the large patio. If you want to make something they don't offer, you can bring it in. I LOVE this bar!! Pros: Great staff, a place for everybody as long as you're not stuck up, every type of person. Cons: Redbull drinks are expensive more

Website please! 7/23/2007

I like this place. I think it is fun to cook out on the patio. I just wish they had a website available other than myspace. Not all computers allow myspace. Pros: Can cook your own food purchased there. Cons: No website more

Great Sunday band & great staff 7/8/2007

We were just there Sunday 7/8/07 with a very large group of Harley riders. The staff was tremendous, friendly and attentive. Very capable of handling a group of 100 people who all walked in at the same time. The band was fabulous, the food great and we will definitely be back. A great place to go on a Sunday afternoon to listen to music, catch a little sun and have dinner...all at the same place. It's casual and fun. Thanks for having all of us Harley riders! more

Lame crowd, but if you're a sardine you'll love it! 4/30/2007

Low-class crowd, small space. Smelly, wet, and gross bathrooms. Definitely for the barely 21 crowd. Pros: price Cons: clientelle more

Great atmosphere 4/22/2007

I came here with my friends and this place is totally happenin'! The music selection is great and the drinks are moderately priced...but if you want a good time, this place is the place to check out...we actually went on a Friday nite and yeah, it was kinda packed, it still had a great vibe! Good looking people too! more

I LOVE IT 4/17/2007

I went to Pierce Street Annex last night at midnight because it was my 21st birthday. it was a tuesday but it was still fairly busy...my cousin had told me about this place so i figured i'd try it out. it's sooo awesome! the bartender kimberly was amazing, she was so sweet! everyone was super friendly and it wasn't expensive at all. i'll definitely be heading back. Pros: cheap drinks, good people, friendly bartenders. Cons: a bit of an older crowd when i went more

Great place to meet people and to dance! 3/8/2007

I have a boyfriend and he lives in Irvine, O.C. & so we always hang out in that area, i liked it alot, me and his friends go. we all have a great time! but if you are single as well it's a great place to meet people! Pros: free parking is always good! Cons: small dance floor and they don't play trance either! more

A run-of-the-mill bar 1/18/2007

I recently moved to OC and a girlfriend and I wanted to try out bars in the area. After reading a good review on (ta da) citysearch, we decided to check it out. It was an interesting Thursday night to say the least. This bar attracts an older, mixed crowd, which ranged from mid 20s to 70s. I was there with a girlfriend and a drunk 70 year-old lady tried to convince us to dance with her equally old friend. It was cute acutally, but we sadly declined. Friendly bartenders. Good parking. Good music. Spins mostly hip-hop and top 40 music in a decent sized dance floor. Pool tables. Cond0ms sold for $1 in the restroom---there's an actual dispenser. Interesting, no? 3 for $9 specials on Thursday nights. Very fun and recommendable. It's definitely not a trendy, attractive, single's scene but it's an ideal place to hang out with buddies after work and to dance. Pros: 3 for $9 Thursdays, parking, no cover, music Cons: less than trendy crowd more

not too bad 11/10/2006

i had a fun time there, but i'd say it's not a glamorous hot spot. go with your group of friends and just hang out. shoot pool, dance, and drink it up! Pros: location Cons: parking more

Editorial
  • In Short
"Casual" and "cheap" sum up this Costa Mesa singles party destination. It's one of the area's top pickup spots, with beachy, attractive 20-somethings filling the majority of the bill. Drink specials keep the small dance floor fueled, as singles smash together to hip-hop and rock hits. A large patio area allows for conversation if the inside frenzy gets overwhelming.
