I recently went to Pierce Jewelers to meet with Buddy to discuss options for an old emerald gemstone that I was thinking about setting into a ring.
He sold me a setting from a display case that he made by hand. The setting is nice, however, I should have been told that my old emerald stone wasn't worth setting. As a jeweler, I feel that he knew that it wasn't worth being made into jewelry due to the poor quality of the stone.
I paid over $2500 for the setting and when I got the ring back, it looked awful because of the poor quality gemstone. I immediately took it to another jeweler and had them remove the emerald and replaced it with a green sapphire. The ring looks lovely now.
Buddy should have told me not to set the emerald instead of giving me paperwork with an ""appraisal"" stating how poor of quality it was. He took advantage of my wallet and lack of knowledge. FYI, the new independent appraisal I have for the green sapphire, lists the cost of the ring as $750 less than Buddy priced it.
You are far better off to go elsewhere and work with someone who has integrity. If I had been told the truth, I would be happy to go back and recommend them. I will NEVER return. I will shop elsewhere and save some money. They lost this customer.
