Where did the lemons go 8/30/2011

SOOOO disappointed. I grew up celebrating my birthday at Pieloon in Downey and always had having lemon meringue pie . I had not bee there for many years and decide to stop by for a while pie to go. I just had a piece... no taste, non of that lemon zing and the top of the meringue was rubbery. It will be my last lemon pie from there. more

always crowded 4/16/2010

I live by this restaurant and I see all the crowds and full parking lot on weekends, so I wanted to try it. The service was great but the food was okay, my husband and I expected more. We went to dinner on a Sunday night and it was pretty empty. The crowd is usually older so they are seen early in the day and afternoon, we went at 8pm. The food tasted like food from Norm's, I expected more of a homestyle taste. I What bothered me was my surprise baked potato - surprise because it was missing a lot of the potato. I had ordered a the potato leak soup which was delicious because not many places offer it and I had ordered a baked potato as my side, when I put my spoon in th potato the butter, chives, and sour cream sunk into the potato. As I was checking out my potato, I noticed the big gap in the potato! I figured the cook used some of my potato to make the soup? No the items did not melt into the potato, they were covering the gap. I know potatoes are cut and opened to fill it, but this one had nothing in the middle. I asked the waiter if that was how my potato was suppose to be, and he said yes? I figured the kitchen must have ran out but they should have least said something. Pros: friendly service Cons: the food was not the greatest more

Great family restaurant 2/5/2007

The staff is super nice and the food is just okay...i agree with the other person, not great but okay...i do like their daily specials and the prices are low...the times i have gone it isn't too packed and the people eating are just as friendly, commenting on things i have ordered and offering to try something they ordered....they do offer great portions... more

Fantasitc Specials 12/31/2005

This place has fantastic specials. Most under $10, including steaks, prime rib and seafood. The food is good. Not fabulous or fantastic, but good. Unfortunately, there is a compromise for such low priced specials. They cut corners here and there. So far I've found the salad dressing to watered down (to the point where it is like fluid) and the Mashed Potatoes are Instant (you know from a box). Which is a shame because the salads have great potential with their crisp leafy lettuce and delicious garlic croutons. The steaks are good and the Garlic Bread is delicious. Pros: Specials, Steaks/Prime Rib, Garlic Bread Cons: Salad Dressing, Mashed Potatoes more

Great family place 7/24/2004

My husband and I eat here atleast once a week. Lots of food for a really good price. Excellent prime rib special for under $9 (my favorite) available every day in addition to their daily specials. One of the few places where their breakfast is as good as their dinners. Though be warned, Sunday mornings, the place is PACKED with the church crowd (and that should tell you something!). Pros: Great value, tasty food, inexpensive more
