No need to hide that Starbucks coffee under your coat! 5/14/2006

I have been to this wonderful theater so many times. To say that this infamous landmark is glorious would be an understatement. This beautiful theater in Park Ridge will take you back to the glory days of movie viewing. And with over 1,000 seats (in theater one) you don't have to worry about scrambling to get a chair for the next Tom Cruise flick. (Hey, you have plenty of chairs to jump up and down on here...eh, Tom?!) This used to be a 2nd run theater, but now you can catch Hollywood's latest and finest for as low as $4! (You heard me, $4). Plenty of parking and popcorn waiting for you and they will even let you carry in your Starbucks coffee to enjoy during the movie. (No need to hide it under your coat :) more

The Historic Pickwick 3/17/2006

I have seen quite a few films here since I started visiting Park Ridge. The theater could use some repairs and some improvements to the sound system. Theatre #1 is it's main building and was built in the late 1920's. It's very cool to see a film here. They are showing first run films nowadays, it used to be a second run only theatre. It is still cheaper than any cineplex. Tix are $5 before 5pm and $6.25 after. There is not much charm or character to the other three screening rooms located in the annex of the building. I really enjoy visiting Park Ridge and am happy to hear this building has achieved landmark status. more

An Old Fashioned Experience 10/20/2005

The Pickwick has historical landmark status, having been built in the late nineteen twenties. It is a really large theatre holding about 1700 people. New films are usually shown there, but not brand new. The entry price is very cheap - four dollars in the late afternoon. There are great murals on the ceiling and the screen cover. It's a blast seeing a movie with 1699 other people. more

Good prices, theater a little run down 8/5/2005

This is an old-time theater, and you can tell. Hasn't been renovated in a long time. Still, a good place to see a movie. They often have films that have been out for a while. Prices are reasonable, though, and cheaper than the major name theaters in the area. We like coming here from time to time. Located in picturesque Park Ridge. more

Pickwick Theater Steals the Show! 7/29/2005

This is a great theater. The main auditorium is big and beautiful but there are also various other that are much tinier and not as impressive. If you can see a show in the main theater, do it as you won't be disappointed - it's huge! Otherwise, see a movie here otherwise. It's a bargain at $6 a ticket and even less for kids. It used to be $5 but I suppose everyone has to keep up. This theater is known to show second-run movies but lately this has not been the case. Newer releases have been appearing here more quickly. Located in the heart of Downtown Park Ridge, you will have lots to do before or afterwards, whether its dropping into a restaurant or getting some ice cream at Oberweis. I would highly recommend it to anyone, and routinely check for shows here before I look at other movie theaters. more

Bargain priced movies 7/25/2005

An alternative to high-priced theater chains, with ticket prices at about half the price. Some releases are a few week's behind other theaters' openings, but still current. Main, art-deco era theater in front is very large and beautiful, but showing its age and in need of a bit of sprucing up. Smaller theaters in back offer more movies to choose from, but they are a bit cramped and with small screens that can be a little clastrophobic. Parking can be challenging in downtown Park Ridge at peak times on weekends (there is no theater-only lot), and the ticket counter often has waits, so arrive a few minutes early. more
