I just went to Physicians' Eye Care in the last month as well as my husband and two children. We have been a long time Lenscrafter customer and switched due to insurance. I have to say I didn't wait, no one even mentioned Lasik. My glasses and frames with non-glare, progressive lenses were 340 after insurance (if I hadn't gotten the non-glare, they would have been 250). At lens crafters, after my AAA discount without non-glare the glasses were 550. My daughter's glasses and frames were $200. It was quite a bit cheaper than lense crafters. I was never able to see clearly out of the contacts that I purchased at lenscrafters. The doctor that fitted me for contacts spent over an hour with me and found that my eyes didn't adjust correctly to the brand that I was wearing. I am in a new brand and seeing very clearly now. There were a couple of things that I didn't like (1) when ordering my contacts I asked how much they would be (6 months supply versus 1 year) and the person I was ordering from couldn't tell me, she had to refer me to the doctor; (2) the multiple appointments with limited hours. The only days they are open after 4:30/5:00 are Thursdays. They said they were open some saturdays but no one could tell me which saturday. I had to have a separate eye appt/contact appt and glasses fitting. For someone that works a regualr job it is difficult to fit these in. Other than that I had a very positive experience. more

Just came back from an appointment - -everyone in the office was pleasant, surprised I only had to wait about 5 minutes. I don't know about the other complaints but maybe they made an impact. I was even asked if everyone was nice and pleasant or if I had recommendations. more

AVOID this eye care center 11/30/2011

I recently went here. It's actually been some time now, but the memory still sits in my brain. As a child I was brought here by my parents so one day when I thought I should get an eye exam, of course this place came to mind. I am so sorry I did. The wait was long. Very long. Then once I got back there, all I heard was conversation about laser surgery. One or two people said out loud, ""you know this is the place to come for laser, right?"" Maybe so. Maybe not. I will never find out. But in any event, I stayed there until Dr. Sussell saw me and wow, he brought up laser surgery as well. That is fine...if you say it one time as a suggestion. But he actually laughed with his assistant about how I was not interested and made it sound like he was wasting his time having me as a patient. Sorry Dr. Sussell, you do not get $2K out of me today. You get my copay... I will never go back. To this day I still can not believe the doctor I went to see actually laughed in my face because I was not going to allow him to perform laser surgery on my eyes. I do NOT recommend this place or doctor. I do NOT advise wasting your time. Go somewhere else. See a doctor that cares. I know...very few exist in today's world. But at least do not go where they laugh at you. Dr. Sussell, I am happy your rich and might be good at your job, but you don't you dare laugh at a patient, belittle them, or talk down to them. Unbelievable... more

nothing but the best of customer service 5/11/2011

Ive been to both locations and i have no clue what the hell any of these idiots on this city search blog are talking about they are so nice and caring don't get me wrong but there are some snotty people in Ellicott city but not at any one of these places. Also i was reading the last review on here and i seen they said something about the lady Jamie that works there she was the nicest girl i've ever met she was so considerate and actually cared about the facts i don't know who this rude person who wrote that review was but the fact of the matter she was probably the rude one not Jamie. And as far as Tracy goes the manager she was such a sweetheart nothing but nice to me. all the doctors were great. The thing that makes me mad about these blog sites are the people that complain about people being snotty or even calling that lady Jamie a dirt ball saying shes downright dirty looking there the ones that are snotty and dirty. again i love the people at physicians eye care. All these other idiots don't have a clue what they are talking about. more

Horrible place, horrible people... 4/21/2011

I've been to 2 of their locations, Ellicott City and Columbia. They are staffed by snotty kids for the most part, and in Columbia especially, you think you've walked into a junior high classroom. There is one girl in particular, Jamie, that has such a nasty attitude. I've even heard her trashing other employees. I asked to speak to the manager, and what a piece of work she is. Very condescending, almost laughing under her breath, and obviously didn't care one bit how we felt we had been treated. Oh, and I should mention that both of them were sloppy looking, and Jamie was downright dirty looking. I will never go back. more

Terrible Service 11/29/2010

Avoid them. Used the Ellicott City and Columbia locations. Family of 4 and have never had a good experience. Drs are great. The rest of the staff acts as if they hate working there at both locations. Waited 3 weeks for my daughters glasses. Opted to take my prescription from them to Lens Crafters. Got them back in 2 days and saved over $200. Have vison insurance coverage which was main reason for going to Phys Eye Care, however I can submit the bills from LC for re-imbursement. What a shame. Nice place, but service and price is horrible. more

Tries to sell only expensive glasses --- denied having any under plan 1/21/2009

When we finished my daughter's eye exam she went over to select frames for her glasses. As we were on a budget we asked the technician what frames were covered under the VSP plan. She said ""we don't have any."" I told my daughter we'd take the prescription somewhere else... The technician then said well we do have five frames that are covered, they can not be fitted in any way, but you can get these under the plan. My patient daughter tried on each frame and told me she'd be fine with one of them. the technician then admitted that actually she had an entire cabinet that qualified under the plan.\r \r It felt sleezy from top to bottom of the sale. Pros: Clean wait area. Cons: Technician lied, trying to cost us lots of dollars more

Physicians Eye Care is not meant for those who just need the right glasses. 1/21/2009

My daughter went in for an eye exam because she is having difficulty reading the board in school. She was seen by a technician who did the eye test. The technician said she wasn't a candidate for Lasik (she hadn't asked about it.) Then she was seen by a doctor who said she didn't need any change in her correction. When she explained that she is guessing at the letters on the board at school and can't read it, the doctor just shrugged and said they could up the prescription in her good eye, but make no change to the eye with astigmatism. \r \r Basically this is a practice that focuses on eye diseases. If you need a doctor to think through a complicated correction, it isn't going to happen here. Pros: If you have an eye disease they have good credentials -- connected to Hopkins Cons: They are not interested in ""normal"" eye issues -- and show it more
